- Today we're attempting to build a realistic resort town, inspired by those found throughout the island and peninsulas of Eastern and South-eastern Massachusetts. It's not an easy look to achieve in Cities Skylines 2 at the moment, but we give it a shot with heavy use of the under-utilized primarily European motel assets in combination with a selection of the new assets from the beachfront properties pack. We sprinkle in some custom parking, surface detailing, heavy prop use, and a marina! Hope you enjoy!

Hi everyone! Sorry if my voice sounds a little rough through most of these recordings - I've been battling a bit of a cold 🙂As always, would very much appreciate a like and I can't wait to read you guys' suggestions for the name and potential backstory of this cozy little resort town!
Thank you all
Infrastructurist
I just come out of a cold myself so ! **fist Check**
Sådan lyder ens stemme bare are når man taler Dalglish. Jokes aside, du laver banger videoer. ❤
Goes to yt -> sees infrastructurist has uploaded -> happy day
I can relate to this experience
What series is your favorite?
Definitely true
There should have been a ”vacation home” feature added with the beach properties dlc. Assign house as ”vacation home” and it will be occupied by an existing household that travels there once a week or something.
It was a asset Pack
Maybe you can call the village cape rose after a Dutch explorer from the town of roosendaal discovered the land in 1607 shortly after they discovered New York these Dutch explorers decided to settle there and the old houses they built still remain in the village to this day along with many other old buildings that were built after the village started flourishing in the 1800 due to its scenic location and big amounts of fish in the waters surrounding it
I have got a random idea. You can use the dev mode to create shiping docks on the paths in the water, so ships can dock there
So cute! I LOVE this little resort town, with these charming buildings. As far as names go, the original inhabitants of Nantucket were the Wampanoag and Nantucket means "far away island" . Later the nickname by sailors was The Grey Lady. Those marshes would be ideal for oysters, Wellfleet and Cotuit oysters, and then the ocean beyond would have lobsters... -- and then you have "steamers," or steamed clams. The other type of clam you will see on menus is the quahog pronounced "ko-hog"...so any varient with these names would fit nicely as place names here. Steamer beach, loster bay, Cotuit Cove, etc
The indigenous population of The Cape was actually known as the Nauset. After Europeans had colonized this area of what is now the US, the population of the Nauset dwindled significantly (due to disease, war, genocide, etc.) and the few surviving Nauset eventually assimilated into Wampanoag culture.
@@bisondelatroupe1754 Thank you for adding that.
This has to be the most beautiful build in CS2 to date. And only you can top this.
As for the name suggestions - perhaps New Texel could work? Texel is a Dutch island, a popular touristic destination known for its sand dunes. I don't know why but the vibe of this town resembled me of the Netherlands. And after all the Dutch have strongly influenced the East Coast, especially in the early days!
Maybe you can call the village Knokke. Knokke is a small town in Belgium and was probably created in the 13th century after land reclamations. Fishing used to be the main source of income in Knokke. Tourism arrived at the end of the 19th century.
FYI, when plopping assets VIA Dev Mode you can double tap B (open/close 'dozer) to get a new color/asset version. No need to plop the one you don't want off to the side. Works for plazas and parks as well.
Oh thank GOD you uploaded a video, I've been so bored at work today. This is going to be a delightful hour!
My man is getting paid to watch CZcams
A couple of city name suggestions: Town of Auburne, Cornelius, City of Bowe, and Illish.
Also a national park northwest of the settlement could be a nice utilization of the land!
i fee like a wildlife preserve would be better scale wise in that marsh area
I grew up in Rhode Island, right next to Southern Massachusetts. I'd love to see you add something like Wickford, Rhode Island. It's my favourite village in my homestate. Extremely cozy watching the fishermen and having lunch on the pier! I've tried replicating it in cities skylines 2 but could never do it justice! Loving this series! It makes me very nostalgic!
I think this will take time before it can be possible. We have to wait for more assets and the possibility of Modded assets !
Just when I thought you couldn't get any better than you did in your last video you keep rising the bar on both quality and style. You are by far one of the greatest Cities Skylines 1&2 builders of all time. I never stop learning by watching your video's and receiving inspiration from your skills and talents for building some of the most beautiful and unique cities and maps. Thank you for all you do and for sharing your talent with us. ✊️😉👍
Even with the limitation you find a way to stay real & creative. True visionary & skillful individual!
maybe you should add some light houses
Nah, “the most famous vacation town in the state of Massachusetts” is Martha Vineyard
Some of the signature buildings as well as some of the higher tier row houses could have made a good fit. Especially some of the new signature buildings.
i loved the original map, but your changes has made it look a lot more realisitic. And the new textures u have chosen really makes everything just pop
Your use of the game and its assets show the promise of what this game can be!
You can name the town , Sherman's Bay . Sherman's Bay was a small fishing town and hardly anyone knew about this town. The town started getting popular due to the shooting of a Netflix tv series in the town.
I have 2 suggestions for a name; 1) Noepe (no-ep-ay), it is the original name for the island of Martha’s Vineyard, it is an indigenous name for ‘land amid/between the streams/waters’ (depending on which source you ask) and it makes sense for the geographical location. 2) another idea is to (like Martha’s Vineyard) name it after the child of the founder, ie; Harpers Marina, Joel’s Point, Point Roslyn, etc.
Hey, I love that your building my neck of the woods I've lived in BUZZARDS BAY MA my entire life!!
Once again tremendously good work 😊
I got an idea for the town’s name: “Cone”. That seems to be the indigenous word for “sun” the Wampanoag tribe used. According to my quick google research, they lived in the area Easthaven is situated. “Sun” seems to be a nice name for a vacation-town, if you ask me. Secondly it sort of reminds me of Coney Island, which also has these tourist vibes…
Regarding a backstory, maybe something around some Chowder Bay founding father’s heritage? Leaving his children a fortune, which they turned into a town, which they then named Cone in recognition of the wonderful location and the heritage of the indigenous people that once lived there.
Loving the sidewalk solution you've got going on there!
to create the look you showed at the start, it is sort of possible with high density commerical if you use small lots. it might be a bit counterintuitive but they are not as tall as the mixed zoning and are ofcourse shops.
Looks awesome! Nantucket would be an appropriate name: The wharves and cobblestoned streets of the town of Nantucket are lined with restaurants, high end boutiques. Nantucket is a tiny isolated area off of Cape Cod, Massachusetts and is a summer destination with dune-back beaches and marked by unpainted cedar -shingled buildings, many surrounded by manicured privets! A cozy area once known for its role as a 19th century whaling hub.
youre making good use of the mods. keep it up
You can get the extended road tools to get invisible roads so you don’t need to have actual roads down between your buildings.
Name idea…
Okoboji (Oh-koe-boe-G). It’s a small vacation town known for its food and small town leisure vibe. Lots of dive bars and ocean stores. But the town is famous because of some missing people cases. Rumors say that the swamps are cursed by witches. (Salem witch trials in Massachusetts 1693).
Add some dirt roads with 1 or 2 houses on them in the swamps.
What a great idea!
Babe new infrastructurist video just dropped
You’re making me wanna buy this game. I loved SimCity
Real nice, I like the look of the swamp a lot. 6:13 please revisit this promontory, imo it does not look like something formed by the currents. Some rocks to justify the shape, make it smoother, perhaps?
40:13 you naughty man
Will you eventually be making a larger (mid-sized) city for the region? More inland, sort of like a Providence/Hartford/New Haven vibe? I think It would fit nicely with the setting.
Good question - I have been considering giving Chowder Bay a sizeable upgrade, due to it's central location and large port facilities, but it could also be more inland - maybe even Westpoint?
@@Infrastructurist I think Chowder Bay should remain a fishing harbour and build a new, bigger city, but that's mainly because I like how CB looks now and I enjoy watching new builds rather than upgrades, so I might be biased.
That's cool, I love your videos
The thumbnail is breathtaking!
Check out Watch Hill, RI; Misquamicut, RI and Westerly, RI. This towns layout reminded me a lot of Watch Hill but would be cool to see inspiration from the area like the Ocean House or Weekapaug Inn.
1 way alleys are a big want of mine, in addition to asymmetrical 5 lane 2-way highways and a 6 lane 2 way highway too
The swamp - like area is so gorgeous
I think the strip of land opposite the commercial street should be a proper sandy beach using the sand texture. It would make even more sense as to why this area was developed as a resort town, perhaps starting with that strip along the beach and then expanding deeper inland. You could imagine how busy it would get during summer
My only suggestion would be to google some "Cape Cod Foliage" pictures and try to replicate the fall colors. You've got plenty of the reds, but missing yellow and orange leaf colors. The vivid autumn leaves are a major tourist draw to the area.
Ptown! I absolutely love Ptown, it’s a cool place.
Should be named this place Shelby, nice and simple !
Love this episode. Great work. Two quick questions: 1. Why is your game not complaining about the zoning when you manually place buildings? 2. How do you remove the trees with the area tool?
Town name: Commodore's point. Prior the independence war, captain Bill 'small fish' Robinson was a small time smuggler and ocasionally pirate. He recieved his letter of marque and sinked a few british ships during the war. He was rewarded with the rank of Commodore and a plot of land on a small island where he built his house and a pier from where he returned to his smuggling life.
It's giving heavy Swedish town vibes.
the street view of Provincetown this is where i grew up lol
You should add a little fire station & a lighthouse 😃
You need to add in a lighthouse somewhere near one of the ports!!
VERY nice little video ! Comfy as fuck ! Thx !
As for the name and background of the town ... well, i don't have good ones. I always prefer to make some background for miserable and corrupted areas.
(It's my love for the World of Darkness and more exactly Vampire the Masquerade that make me tell that xD )
Powering the bridge, you could perhaps just add street lights to it 12:26
Elkwood (I just think it could be name for a cozy little town in the forests)
1st person tour will be nice
Bro is a legend of detailing 😂
Can you make one of the small islands formed like “Gotland“ it’s a Swedish island. My dad is from there. Idk if it’s hard or even possible but I think it could fit in. You definitely don’t have to just in case you need inspiration. Good video fun to see your channel is growing!
new portsmouth or new plymouth maybe that could be a good fit for the context of this town
0:42 Smosh Land 😲😲😲
Roundabouts at the ends of piers
Name it "Cabbage Cove" as an homage to Cabot Cove from Murder She Wrote
What mod did you use to place the buildings down individually?
Thank you, Great Video! 16:15
Name the town Pequod. It's the name of the whaling ship in Moby Dick, which left from Nantucket
I hope you upload the map to PDX mods when you are done! 😊
Can you make Maldives in city skylinea😅
Hi Massachusetts resident here, who spends a lot of time at the cape. Meybey add a colledge near this new tourist town based on the Massachusetts Mairtime academy in oystervill?
@maximepstein1314 Sus comment. All natives know it's "Down the Cape" ❤
"Rocky Beach" please :)
How about New Brighton as many folks from South england immigrated to this bay once upon in time and founded this settlement?
10:30 city planner plays reference? 😄
Hey dude, jeg er ved at gense riverview og du fik nævnt du er dansk, i knew it! Det er noget dansk over din accent! Men for satan du er vild du kan virkelig skabe en levende by så fortsæt endelig med det du gør!
Can it “New west”. The background can be that this was an European colony and due to decolonization, it was given back.
16:29 is that using developer tools to find those EU buildings?
You should name it Mölle By The Sea
I went to Nantucket several times as a kid, I distinctly remember going to that store you dropped next to, the Sunken Ship. What are the odds?
Edit: Your truss bridge's steel structure is underwater, which wouldn't happen fyi.
how about "hospitality bay" ?
are you having any issue with TAA?
Maybe springwood.
I hate that there's no curb texture. It's like road and pavement is just painted on grass. Will they ever fix it?
Hi there. where are you coming from?
"Breakwater Bay"
You need the "Gay Gentrification" DLC to really replicate Provincetown.
my thoughts exactly. we need rainbow crosswalks, eco homes, little libraries, and nautical themed gay bars to give it that provincetown vibe
@@jof8291 And that's not part of the pre-order San Francisco pack either? Another whiff by CO!
Old Spice (and there should be a New Spice as well)
Town name:port of sebation city
no police and fireman outpost? :(
I can’t wait for new road textures. The current ones are so bad 🤢
Beaver Spit
Name: Wrong Turn 😆
That's the first ingame footage I see of the finished game and I'm really shocked. Are the ground textures really that bad??? I mean the streets don't even have a texture... they're just coloured grey with some white shades. This is terrible for a brand new game??!! Even Sim City 4 had higher quality textures?!
Add some LGBT pride to provincetown, it’s a big part of their culture!
Am i the only one that can only see this in 360p?
Modders are going to save CS2 from failure, the game needs outside help for realism.
You kinda sound like bob from bobs burgers but with a made up accent
