- This is the first episode in a new mini-series, introducing you to some of the birds I work with.
In this video I give a brief overview of my beautiful 10 year old barn owl who has been with me for most of his life. I will talk about how I got him, what makes barn owls so amazing and what I love about working with him.
Hope you can take 10 minutes out of your stressful day to enjoy something a bit different!

This girl is so addicting to watch. Her knowledge on all her birds and the way she teaches is amazing
I know! I stumbled upon her several hours ago and have been addicted; haven't done a thing today except watch videos. 😂
Bigg facts love her videos
@Trevor Mwendwa such a pure heart!❤️
I have no clue how I ended up around here. I searched for scale models of vintage aircraft.
I am not complaining though.
Hahahaha 😂 👍
Lucky you!.Sit back, listen, and feel at peace.
technically birds ARE vintage aircraft
Pretty sure I watched a video of a cockatiel, then I ended up with Fable the Raven, and now I'm just on falconry. How fun.
I mean aren't birds the most vintage of all aircrafts? Already flyin around before we even figured out fire
Wait so owls are like 40% fluff that is adorable.
Birds in general are mostly floof.
Trust me, you don't wanna see a bald owl. It's terrifying.
Winged cats
@@SosiCreatesArt nah flyng sheeps cuz' sheeps are flufy too
you should see a sopping wet barn owls its hilarious. they are so precious!
Barn owls must've been stoked when they first invented barns
;p
In hungarian language they are called 'pearl owls'.
@@farkasabel well they must've been stoked when they first invented pearls
@Roger Rarebit Barn Owls invented barns and named them after them
@Roger Rarebit Bay owls ?
If any barn owls are reading this, I built you a nest box 3 years ago and no one has claimed it yet. Luxury accommodations, and all the mice, voles, and gophers you can eat. Come check it out!
I will ask a friend if he is interested
Very cute post......ha
Sod the owls
I'm moving in 👍cheers
Lol
You might want to try to attract barn owls into there and make it comfortable for mother owls to know it’s safe to have her kids there.
Flynn is absolutely gorgeous! I’m so excited to explore your videos.
Me: i should really stop seeing so many bird videos.
Falconry Lady: hey, wanna check out my sweet sweet owl?
Me: heck yeeeeah, let me seee

I once opened a hay loft door on a barn, saw movement in the dark, something came right at me. Was a barn owl just like this one, talons first. I managed to duck in time, luckily. It had it's nest up there and was trying to protect it's chicks. The owner of the barn and I decided to leave them be, and waited for the owlets to fly out before returning. Was a close call, but I still think they're awesome birds.
Must've been scary to see that pop out of the shadows and nearly poke some holes in your face but cool at the same time
@@nergigante3514 it does make one appreciate nature on a whole new level. :)
I wonder how many owls died because idiots ran out to buy tbem after seeing them in Harry Potter movies. Glad that Flynn is ok
I feel bad for all those owls, imagine some random wild animal made a story about humans and bunches of other wild animals stole humans and just left them in their den and neglected it. Same thing.
The same applies to every animal species, really, including humans. Although some species, including humans, are more pliant and easily domesticated than others.
P
It’s sad some people even just foster children just to get money and don’t even care for the child properly :(
I’ve heard this sad sax story a million times now. Give it a rest!
@@mr.x2567 well I suppose that your should probably find something else to intrest you then.
"I'm going to be starting a new series introducing some of the birds..."
Me: LIKE!
namesdontmatter yes, I love it too
I've always thought owls in particular had very malkavian vibes. It's unexpected, but great to see... Kindred spirits on this channel
Once, just once I was very lucky to see a barn owl perching on a post on Salisbury plain of an evening. We turned around and drove back to see it take off on the hunt, swooping low over the field... beautiful..
I grew up on a small farm in Middle America. We would chop wood then store it in the barn. One cold night Mom and I went to get firewood when our resident owl swooped over us. It was absolutely silent and beautiful. These birds are amazing. :)
Wait until one flies up and over the front of your car at night ;)!
Moose Bme Fair enough mate... never had that happened to me... I only get to watch short eared owls swoop on the odd occasion..had a deer in rut run across a countryside road in front of me then gallop up the side of the road alongside my car before running off into a field... beautiful.x
See it everyday its very Nice to watch
I have a few living in my barns
2018 2 young ones 2019 5 young ones but only 4 grew up
All in one barn
There are more but i cant get close to them
Not to be dramatic but I would die for Flynn the Owl.
But, would you live? Live a good life to make the world better for many Flynns. ;)
You're insane.
That was just slightly dramatic, not over the top or anything like that... LOL!
That's pretty dramatic man, chill...

Blast, you are true birds encyclopedia. I cannot tell you how enjoyable is for me to take a small break during my boring lawyer's work and to listen to your expert knowledge and excellent lecturing. Well done young lady, wish you all the best in these bad times. Good luck to you and your beautiful birds.
You are so articulate, it's a joy to listen to you.
And I would like $1 for every time she says "actually", seemingly a very British verbal trait.
@@hughvane Well it's our language other countries have just borrowed it. And the use of the word 'actually' is a more English trait than a British one.
@@ds1868 I love the English language, and I also enjoy debating its use. My point was that the repeated use of 'actually' simply highlights how superfluous it is. 'Literally' is another example, and if you look at my second sentence again you'll see another. :)
@@hughvane second sentence > "simply"?
@@Kaparzo must be "simply", yeah
You have found your moment. These films are a tonic to be savored when we are all stuck inside and don't want to watch the news. Thank you
john richardson absolutely beautiful
Absolutely. I was watching information on the covid19 and then I saw Amy and Flynn. Light speeding switch
I concur !🕊absolutely just what I need !
john richardson I’m hoping people will get misdirected while searching ‘COVID’ they’ll instead get ‘corvid’ and end up here. ✌🏻😊
@@JessicaDarling2 I now want corvid not covid. More film please.
This Lady ( her voice, demeanor, appearance and voice ) and the wonderful birds are totally mesmerizing. I simply must learn the information she is sharing. Thank you most sincerely.
It's always crazy to me that something with such a humble name, something named for being found in barns, is one of the most magnificent animals on all of earth
True!
with this video we understand why too,
shelter from rain and wind, mice in the barn to eat etc.
Wingnut202 It’s scientific name Tyto Alba sounds pretty amazing
@@SilverCat22Kittens
Yes! Love the sci name. :)
Thank you for showing Flynn, he’s a very handsome owl. I had no idea their feathers were like that on their wings. Nature always surprises me in the ways that it finds to give the subject the best chance of survival.
There is a pair of owls that nest in my backyard every year to raise their chick. Beautiful birds, I never realized just how big owls truly were until I saw them up close. They're loud too! I always thought hooting would be soft sounding, but it's quite loud, almost booming if you're close to them.
But does he say "boop boop?"
What about, “It’s a good boy?” czcams.com/video/emUCJL4CCfs/video.html
Or “aaaaaaaaaaaaaah” 🤣
Or "Wow"
Lol
You are so enjoyable to listen to. Your knowledge of your craft and how you convey it makes this channel a new favorite.
donsmu I agree!
*YES!* I was hoping you'd introduce some more of your birds!
I’m now addicted to your videos . These are great ! Ravens and owls are my favorite and here is the owl! Love the work you do. Even editing and uploading is a lot of work so good for you. You do a great job.
I'm so happy that Flynn is in a home that understands him better and cares so well for him :) What a beautiful creature. Thank you for introducing him!

I swear I heard 'Nun hunting birds...", and it made my day.
Haha!
Now that sounds like a bad habit to have.
@New Message
I wonder how many Hail Mary's that comment will cost you ;)
It makes a lot of sense, really.
Nuns evolved black habits to camouflage themselves in the dark.. and owls responded by evolving to hunt with their ears, and listen for jingling rosary beads, and French Canadian folk songs...
Hahaha.. very good! I try to imagine a running nun with a elegantly flying owl behind...
I don't know how this channel came up on my recommended page, but really enjoying those videos. Great work!
Sometimes CZcams shows you just what you need and want! This was lovely. What a sweet and very lucky bird to have landed with such a caring and educated bird person. I look forward to seeing more of your videos for sure!
He’s lovely...I rescue pigeons, so, quite a different bird experience, but I love hearing all sorts of wild animal rescue stories; seeing him sitting so comfortably on your hand warms my heart. Thank you for sharing him with us!
Very informative and pleasant presentation. It's a pleasure listening to someone expertly present something I know almost nothing about, and in a manner not in the least condescending. Great job.
What a gorgeous bird... it really shows that they have incredible care and great socialization with each one of them you introduce, I can't wait to see more!! ♡♡♡
You are a wealth of information! To think that they can hear the heartbeat of a mouse is incredible! Thank you for sharing
Asymmetrical ears are such a brilliant evolutionary adaptation, I'm amazed they are so rare. I would love to have them.
Owls are so cool. I was very surprised as a kid when I found out how long their legs can be under all those feathers 😅
Awesome I love Flynn!
Thank you very much for all your lovely videos.I would love to see you on television. You have natural bond with all your little friends, what a pleasure to watch these beautiful creatures being so very tenderly cared for.All the best.
I love Flynn! Thank you for loving him and sharing his story! So far I’ve met Fable and Flynn. Can’t wait to meet more of your flock family. You are so intuitive.💕🪶🦉
"Beautiful plumage, he's pining for the fjords!". 😁 Loving your channel!
Flynn makes up for his comparative lack of intelligence with stunning looks and color variation. He reminds me of snowy owls, denizens of the arctic.
Are you saying he’s dumb?
I love the speckles on the back on his head
I know he’s eating dead chick pieces, but he looks so damn cute doing it! Thank you for sharing him. Owls are my absolute favorite animal and my face hurts from smiling now. 🤍
I’ve always loved the look of barn owls. They’re not a species that we see here. We have two species of owl here, the German or laughing owl( thought to be extinct) and the Ruru or Morepork, which is a small native owl species that most people have heard, but few have seen. Just as with our two species of raptors (the harrier hawk from Australia, and the NZ Falcon) it is, in the normal run of things, illegal to have them in your possession, so it’s rare that people get a good look at them. There is I think 1 licensed and practising falconer using NZ Falcons in the Sth Island. They’ve found a niche using the falcons to keep other birds off the ripening fruit in the vineyards of the wine country.
Hello fellow kiwi. Didn't think I'd see another one here geeking out over birds we could never have here😂.
Looks like its bringing out all the Kiwis in Lockdown lol. I didn't know they used the falcons for that purpose here! The more you know! Morepork are so cute though. It really is a pity they're rarely seen.
@@PreemptiveStrike as amazing as Moreporks are I was camping up by the Bay of Islands last year and this one Morepork wouldn't shut up in the tree above my tent. I didn't get any sleep. Then again better than a possum.
I just want to take a second to thank you for what your doing here. Lots of people don't like falconry purely because they don't understand it, or because what they've experienced from it has been bad. You're doing a lot to show that that's wrong and falconry can be excellent when done properly.
For me personally these videos are really helpful too since I volunteer at a small falconry center and whilst I know a lot of the information in the videos already it's nice to pick up on new ideas and ways of doing things.
Lots of people are appericating what your doing and it shows, particularly through your sub count tripling in the last few days. So thanks!
He’s absolutely stunning!!! Beautiful bird!!❤️
Owl : "I can hear your heart beating sweety
Thank you so much. You have wonderful communication skills. Keep these programs coming. The world is a better place because of you.
I love your enthusiasm and knowledge of your subject, it's a real joy to listen and learn.
One of the prettiest of the owl species, if I may be so vain
Unfortunately they make the worst noises. Screeeeeeeeeeeees!

OH MY GOOODDDDD YESSSS. Barn owls are my favorite they are so BEAUTIFUL. I absolutely love Flynn and I would do anything for him.
I'm so glad I found this channel, you have such a great calm and positive energy and you can see your birds are so comfortable and connected with you
I’m so happy to see your channel grow! Thank you for sharing your passion with us❤️
You’re an awesome young lady. Thank you for posting this.
He is a handsome little owl. I have always liked owls, even the cranky one that used to sleep in the rafters of my barn and screech at me whenever I went in to take care of my goats.
That Barn Owl is GORGEOUS. You brought him back to a glorious state of health and beauty.
Birds need more people like you. Loved seeing this owl up close.
Ran into a barn owl in the rafters of my parents barn when I was about ten. This was at night and it was a bit spooky!
I tie Yorkshire style flies for fly fishing; if you don't mind my saying so, his shoulder feathers are very handsome; they'd tie some interesting patterns. Cheers!
He's absolutely stunning..
Barn owls are so beautiful. It is one of my pleasures seeing one of this beautiful animals hovering around fields at dusk in summer.
The algorithm has favored ye. Expect a 10x subscriber count.
You and your bird friends are lovely.
What an absolutely gorgeous bird. You've done a fantastic job!
Amy you are part of the wonderful young people of the new generation. You are a terrific spokesperson for the birds. I much admire you. God bless you and this journey
Thank you for caring for Flynn.
Barn owls are my favorite animals in the world, thank you so much for showing us this beautiful boy, but also for producing such great, well thought out content. I only subscribed a couple of days ago but this is sure to become one of my favorite youtube channels for a while to come.
10 minutes well spent 👍 thank you!
Flynn is beautiful. I am thankful that there are people like you to take care of certain birds.
I live in a small caravan way out in the sticks & leaves and I have the pleasure of being greeted with a barn owl that passes by me nearly every morning and most evenings.
I regularly find pellets in my shed and recently set up a camera close by. Unsurprisingly any noise from my caravan instantly alerts this beautiful bird and that's why I've never bumped into it when I'm outside. However I never fail to be wonderfully impressed and joyful every time I see it fly by.
AWW!! Hello there Flynn! What a sweet boy!
I've been told that most owls have "3 dimensional hearing" and the face feathers help owls to see at night. Magnificent animals, however my favorite raptor is the Harpy Eagle!
Harpy eagles are impressive! But if I had to pick a favorite, it would be the peregrine falcon.
@@Revelwoodie Good choice. The fastest animal on the planet. It's been clocked at over 200 mph!....or am I confusing the Peregrine falcon with another bird of prey? Ever hear of the Hast eagle?
Love all raptors but bald eagle is my fave not just bcos im american
(other than the barn owl), mine's probably the Philippine Eagle. Gorgeous bird that is sadly critically endagered.
@@jtrose6995 I love the American Bald Eagle, no doubt, but the Harpy Eagle edges it out ever so slightly.
He is absolutely beautiful! Barn Owls are my favorite type of Owl. They just look so noble for a bird.
I am a retired wildlife rehabilitator. Just wanted to thank you for bringing a barn owl back into my life. LOL. Barn owls are my absolute favorite raptor.😊
Had a Tiny Owl live just above my window in the corner of the second floor under a large overhang on a Water tank overflow pipe and spent many hours watching him/her swoop down and catch mice from around the dustbins .
I wrapped and tie wrapped carpet around the pipe for a more comfortable perch .
Noisy little fella at times .
I'm impressed he's so light! I have a ball python who's about 850 grams, and when he's in a ball he's about as big as Flynn's head, maybe smaller. I've known birds are light, but that gave me a really clear impression of how light!
3:08 i felt that head spin in my soul, spooky 😂
What a beautiful story of rescue . Love it ! this lady is so kind and nurturing to these beautiful creatures .
So cute! Such pretty birds you have.
😍 so beautiful! 💕 Thank you! You are awesome! You are now my favorite channel on YT!☺
“Not particularly intelligent” So Owls are the Himbos of the flight capable!? I love it.
Amy, I love your videos! My Mum who is in Poland recommended your channel, and now myself and my kids can't get enough of you, your knowledge and your birds! :)
My goodness, he is beautiful.
Thank you for the educational opportunity to not only learn about the birds you work with but your profession as well. Your videos are wonderful. Thank you for taking the time to share your world. ✨ ✨ ✨
Absolutely lovely! I’m a new subscriber (just today). I loved the vids of Fable. I’m not sure about the hunting vids since I haven’t watched one of those. I’m sure they are interesting and educational but not sure they’re for me. I am looking forward to vids like this one that showcase your birds individually though.
I hope that there is something for everyone :) thanks for watching!
interesting, hope so to me.
What an amazlng show with special birds and a remarkable woman.... LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!
I love what you are doing! Teaching everyone about different birds and their importance to the planet and how smart they are. This helps make people feel. Lose to, understand and appreciate our avian friends! 😀
He's an absolutely beautiful bird! Barn Owls are my personal favorite birds of prey. I do quite like corvids as well as scavenger birds, like vultures and buzzards, as well.
What a gorgeous bird. Flynn is nice as well.
