its the same mentality that's happened to all those who fell for Hitlers crimes. the level of propaganda and rhetoric is stunning, and no one simply wants to talk policy or look at the facts on the ground. its culture wars that's taken over for common dialogue. Every single republican in my family that I have had a small conversation with, has no clue how the govt works, or what legislation their party wants to get passed, all they talk about is the drama and lies they see about the border, the cost of gas, and how much it costs to buy food...they literally are clueless.

I disagree with Kinzinger on most things not related to January 6th or the future of the democratic process in the US, but he's one of the good ones, and it's a real shame that he was effectively pushed out of office.

My wife works for Dollar General and she tells me the amount of people that come in and compare Trump to God is disturbing. In rural America DG is sadly a community watering hole for many Trumpers. It's sad how few of them have a social life outside of DG but it's completely unsurprising they're Trumpers.

I voted for Trump in 2016, only as I knew nothing about him, as he essentially had me and many others well and truly bamboozled. By end of year 2017 I couldn't take Trump's nearly daily vitriol and bizarre Tweets, so I left the Republican Party and registered as Unaffiliated (aka Independant).

Despite how much I disagree with many of Adam's political views, and although I cannot forget that he too helped built Trump from 2016-2020, if he ran for President as a third choice as the man he is today, I'd _much_ sooner have him as President than Trump.
Kinzinger is exactly right. The GOP has had so many opportunities to move on from Trump and they have chosen not to.
We have no reason to move on from Trump. He's a good man and brought good results.

Kudos! I’ve been trying to talk so sense into my Republican parents, especially my mom. I did a good ol switcheroo on her the other day by telling her Biden put out a tweet a couple years ago saying he would terminate articles of the constitution, and she was like “what!? That’s awful! That can’t happen! That’s dangerous!” and then I told her it was actually Trump who said that and I even showed her the message itself.
Then she immediately switched from “that’s terrible! That can’t be allowed” when she thought it was Biden, to “well how do you know that’s real? It’s probably out of context”
My mom was denying that it was real when it was literally a message straight from Trump on his truth social account.
I love my mom, but what is wrong with these people?

I get where they are coming from about the fact that it’s so crazy to think we pick our friends based on politics. But i also think never before have both sides been so mask off. The MAGA republicans are extremists who make said politics their whole personality. So by finding out someone is a MAGA conservative, you know what type of person they are and what they support. So it’s hard to want to be friends with people who so clearly want a world where white Christian nationalism is the norm. I want friends in my support network to value things beyond Trump. lol and I don’t think that’s too much to ask.
