Compare these with the work of Steven Sterling, and it becomes painfully obvious. These drawings show minimal understanding of colour theory, composition, and anatomy. Combine that with the subpar line work and it looks like something a beginner artist on deviant art would make. I can guarantee that these took no more then two hours each. Assuming they cost 200$ each, that’s close to 100 dollars an hour. Honestly, in my opinion? It isnt even the price that upsets me. 200$ for a piece from an industry pro is a great price, it’s just that he is clearly not putting effort into these. It’s a borderline scam.

This can be easily seen by comparing the art, art style, and character design quality of Butch Hartman and Stephen Silver. Silver's an extremely good character designer to this very day and whenever he draws characters like Danny Phantom, they are of the same caliber as the original show. Even in old pieces from Butch and Stephen there's a clear difference in quality that shows it was really other artists like Stephen Silver who made the shows good.
There's a reason why Stephen has authored a book on character design and why Butch hasn't! I couldn't imagine how terrible the shows would look had Butch been allowed to fully design the characters.

I’ve never seen Hunter x Hunter, so I wasn’t aware of Kite’s original design or what his character was supposed to be like. After seeing a few clips though, Butch really massacres the entire character with his redesign - not just because it looks bad, but because you don’t know shit about the character from looking at it. This redesign however conveys the character’s ENTIRE personality perfectly. You’d think for being a professional in the industry, he’d know something about character design and how integral it is for an artist to have in-depth knowledge about it lmao
I still find it so weird that despite developing his own style that's been well established and beloved for over a decade, he chooses to deviate it to such a point where it feels like he's taken so many steps backward.
The fairy godparents/danny phantom style isnt actually butch hartman's style, its the style of the artists who polished the work that went into the shows. He is taking the credit for their memorable animation and character design and getting paid hundreds of dollars for it because no one seems to know any better

you do realize the reason he's able to charge what he does is because he is who he is. I mean you know what cameo is right? you understand that minor celebrities have some name value. Also you aren't the one who gets to set the barometer for what is considered "tons of effort". I can almost guarantee the people that commissioned his art knew what they were getting into and did so squarely to get art made by HIM not some jag on the internet who wants to stroke himself off while simultaneously appropriating the style of the artist he criticizes. The color schemes are the worst thing about his art. So many Colours and shapes that don't match.
For someone who's been drawing for decades, I've seen kids on Deviantart that draws better than him.

I’ve never seen Hunter x Hunter, so I wasn’t aware of Kite’s original design or what his character was supposed to be like. After seeing a few clips though, Butch really massacres the entire character with his redesign - not just because it looks bad, but because you don’t know shit about the character from looking at it. This redesign however conveys the character’s ENTIRE personality perfectly. You’d think for being a professional in the industry, he’d know something about character design and how integral it is for an artist to have in-depth knowledge about it lmao

The fairy godparents/danny phantom style isnt actually butch hartman's style, its the style of the artists who polished the work that went into the shows. He is taking the credit for their memorable animation and character design and getting paid hundreds of dollars for it because no one seems to know any better

you do realize the reason he's able to charge what he does is because he is who he is. I mean you know what cameo is right? you understand that minor celebrities have some name value. Also you aren't the one who gets to set the barometer for what is considered "tons of effort". I can almost guarantee the people that commissioned his art knew what they were getting into and did so squarely to get art made by HIM not some jag on the internet who wants to stroke himself off while simultaneously appropriating the style of the artist he criticizes. Because if we're being honest it takes absolutely zero effort to not even bother to come up with your own art style and instead take someone else's which btw you seem to love to do but that's just my opinion I don't hold anyone to the standard of not copying others. I'd at least expect an artist to understand putting value to your time and name recognition regardless of what a disillusioned person Butch is, He is 100%allowed to price his art at the price he values it and if people buy, hey that should tell you something.
sidenote: if you think this guys art is better than butch's please look again. there's a reason why he does the fairly odd style... it's simplistic af. which is fine if you wanna do that but people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. With butch you at least have a semblance of not being a siff cardboard cutout and I cannot stress this enough I don't care for butch there are tons of things to criticize him on I just don't think you have much ground to stand on when it comes to his commissions.
edit: just saw your other video where you first did this. The Dib drawing is not a commission please don't spread misinformation and do some actual research, nobody paid for that it would have taken you literal minutes for you to figure out which is rich when you say his art looks like it took 10-30 minutes
