  • As the season progresses, turkey hunting becomes more of a challenge. Birds pick up on decoy patterns, blind set ups, calling, and much more. Even with theses challenges we still get a lot of success with our decoy set ups in late season. Knowing the number of your turkeys and their characteristics can go a long way!

Best tip for late season gobblers is put your decoys in the attic!

How about if decoys never work? Early, mid, late? They never work here man,I hunt in southern Illinois in the Shawnee national forest, I've lived here my whole life,so I never use decoy's,I've tried 2 time's & zero response,so Mister expert how do you recommend I use one of your real looking kill a big gobbler turkey?? I'm open for your opinion.....

      Hey Raybob,
First off we agree with you at least partially, we too have had turkeys turn away from decoys. Thats when we set up with no decoys at all and just rely on calling techniques and allow the birds to search for us. However I promise that the turkeys in your region can and will respond to decoys if used at the right time, preferably before anyone jacks with them and before the toms become less interested in the hens towards the end of the season. Don't get us wrong nothing is full proof, but we have had great success with decoys in multiple states. Thanks for watching and shooting us the question. Appreciate you and send us pics of your success my friend.
