I've done a couple of books on this subject. My best know one is: Drawing Faeries: A Believer's Guide," published by Random House. I like to give these magical beings personality, expression and mood. Most artists only draw them full-figure with wings, which is fine. But I believe you should also be able to tell that it's a fairy even in a headshot, so that we don't relying on wings to do all of the heavy lifting. Let's give it a try. - Jak na to + styl

It comes from my background in animation. Animators go for bold lines, nod use a darker, softer lead than most other illustrators. Animators typically use a 2B pencil, whie general illustrators use a 2h, F, or HB.

If I told you, you wouldn't believe me.... It's copy paper! I like it, it fits any scanner, and you can get it anywhere. Works well on a light box, too.
The pencils are HB Staedtler. In my opinion, those are the best, most consistent pencil product on the market.
It took him about 4 minutes, this would take me fifty years to look half as good, good work dude

the eyes are the hardest...'t is my downfall of sorts
May I make a suggestion? Sometimes people get tangled up drawing the pupils & irises. But the thing that makes the eyes look convincing are the upper and lower eyelid. I would work on those and simplify the eyeball. Just a suggestion. Good luck!
