    well that's one hell of a setup are you a professional or just someone's thats gotta a lotta of excess income. anyways this is a great example of the correct way of doing it. even though most of us don't have the equipment to do so.

    Hi, so If DSP shows ????????? -as per the diagnose method- instead of a number then what does it have to be done? mine is a NR515 I got only analogue sound out from zone2! used a heat gun with no success, but using that diagnose it gave me the ???? on the DSP rather then the number it should.. would appreciate the help.. Thanks

    Hi i have a 414. There is no video but sound does work. Also the network is working. Is it the same chip causing the fault?

    isn't it possible that it's simply the capacitors that need changing on this board on most of the amateur onkyo reflow vids? It's just the heat people are using that helps the caps temporarily. I'm sure there are some bad BGA joins on some amps but i'm not so sure that mnost people are diagnosing correctly. I would like to see some people apply pressure ton the bga to prove their point!

    • @stormanimal83
      @stormanimal83  Před 2 lety +1

      yes, of course. U have to Check that First before doin this repair...

    • @3of12
      @3of12 Před rokem

      Sometimes, yes, but the power rail for the main amp goes through this and BGA failures were very common and it is known to run hot. I have one that is currently without power to the main amp so I could try applying pressure to the decode IC. It turned out to be the correct diagnosis on failing PS3s and macbooks in the same time period, bad BGA balls.

      Hi there... which model of Onkyo do u own? Is it the HDMI Board for sure? Sometimes the receivers have other issues.

    • @RickLWright
      @RickLWright Před 4 lety

      @@stormanimal83 I have the TX-NR 3008. I don't know for sure what the problem is for sure but I have no sound and the speaker icons on the front panel don't click on. According to most videos on CZcams, the problem is almost always the same chip, the Q3001. In my case its a TI DRS chip. I could give you the full number if that helps. I was going to try to reflow the solder today. I bought flux and a heat gun. It seems to work in the many videos I've seen. Since the unit is doesn't work, I've little to lose.

    • @RickLWright
      @RickLWright Před 4 lety

      Sorry, DTS chip

    • @stormanimal83
      @stormanimal83  Před 4 lety

      @@RickLWright yes. then u are right. it might be the dts chip for sure. u can find it out by opening the case an position a halogen lamp exactly above it. let it run for a while. if it clicks an the speaker symbols appear again after some time it should be reballed....

    • @RickLWright
      @RickLWright Před 4 lety

      @@stormanimal83 I had hoped that once I reflowed the solder and applied a heat sink, it would be a permanent fix. Curse Onkyo for not standing behind a manufacturing defect.

    This kills real skill. I can do this job better with a cheap hot air station. Dead serious. If machine can do all these where is the price for the skills and this machine still leaves huge solder blob. So guys with poor skills will make this set up look like a bakery.

    • @3of12
      @3of12 Před rokem +2

      you could do that. but more than a certain amount of time at the necc temp will damage components. the rework station is for precise reballing that is a permanent fix.
