- Mind-bending TV series hosted by John Newland, your guide to the unknown! Based on true, supernatural events that defy scientific explanation, this show appeals to fans of The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits.
FRONT RUNNER: A jockey's career is ruined by his successful rival, who not only takes home the glory but his girlfriend as well. But with the death of his rival during a race, Ronnie is stricken with an unknown ailment as revenge reaches out from beyond the grave.
Wow...nearly 50 years later, this story still has eerie impact
Thanks for sharing
how many years
64 years now.
Love the music they play at the moment of "realization".
May we do our best always
Great story, even had horses in it, always a favorite of mine! 😄🏇🏇 Thanks and blessings for posting. 🙏
Actually, the reporter gave the dying man an inestimable gift, a validation, a bearing true witness to one's deepest and most meaningful experiences. One of the best things one person can do for another.
I'm glad he ruined Sam's life. Sam deserved it. There was no reason for Sam to come back from the grave for 'revenge'. Cool that we get to see these stories, Thanks PizzaFlix!
I know! It's wierd to do someone wrong in life and comeback in death to do it also. Especially when to tell a young man in love and a horse jockey before a race I'm leaving and taking your girl with me, we're getting married, is pretty hardcore unprofessional and offstride making for the youngman riding the horse. So pretty underhanded thing to do by an experienced professional horse jockey to another horse jockey you mentor, but with intensity of loss someone telling you "It's going to happen to you that none believe you!" is prophecy. They didn't share if Sam still married the GF or got the bar restauarant or how it hurt the younger rider to lose that 4 to 1 shot. It isn't good to cheat though so better helped by a mentor like Sam probably to live out life's lessons on Earth and not lose out on that shot at heaven just for money on Earth. Cheating to hurt someone else was the GFs action to the youngman and they say two wrongs never make a right, so doing unto others...right? Horrible choices come sometimes in life and a dirty dusty wind was temptation I think, knowing how to delay gratification and avoid temptation in oneself is a gift of wisdom. The youngman using temptation in a profession he was going to reach high pinnacles in can be very foretelling of a price to pay for fame. Doing everything right to achieve fame is real fame and a price paid, doing anything wrong purposefully to achieve fame I believe is a debt you owe either before you leave this life, at the time you leave this life, or maybe get a chance after you leave this life depending how severe the wrong(s). Sam maybe still a mentor had the youngman pay the price in this life where it will hurt you least is the truth of faith wisdom. Not being with a woman who doesn't care enough about you isn't actually a bad thing either as success afterwards of her/him leaving you often proves clearly.
Be Careful.
Vengeance is Mine, saith the LORD. I shall repay.
Oxygen delivery systems have certainly improved. And Walter Burke (Sam) and Sandy Kenyon (reporter) were in a couple of great Outer Limits episodes.
And on "THE TWILIGHT ZONE" {Kenyon appeared twice}.
His breathing improved as he's telling the story...Should've left in the wheezing and gasping!🙃
Dramatic license one would suppose. But they could've had him speak with less energy and/or with some raspiness....or simply not had him gasping to much at the beginning and meet halfway. Also I think the scene where the projectionist tells the jockey that Sam was somewhere else in the world at the time---which is the show's "spooky moment"---could've been handled a little differently, like him just handing the jockey a newspaper story about Sam's race, and letting him read it himself rather than being told. Meaning, turning into a quieter moment where the viewer could really see him slowly digesting what he is reading, with that haunting music coming in. But, that's the Monday-morning director in me. (I knew that actor who tells this to the jockey. Very nice fellow.)
Another thumbs-up and thanks, PizzaFlix.
That jockey, the dead one that came back to take revenge might've been pretty terrible a spirit to make him ill like that!
This was an interesting one. It kinda reminded of a Tales From the Crypt episode.
I like the oxygen tent, with its wide open top.
There's no hole in the top.
julie jagger You couldn’t see the top, how very strange!!
Kinda like the conman virus does not infect you while eating
Ben Cooper who was on thousands of radio episodes and multiple movies. Walter Burke great as always, he was in so many TV shows from this era. Great episode and acting.
Thank you for posting these.
Actor Walter Burke who played Sam owned a horse ranch in Pennsylvania. So he knew how to ride a horse. But then he also starred in Westerns too. LOL
Shouldn't it be called: "Expensive Care Unit" 🤔

Truly
Thank you for these pizzaflix
Real true story. Fact.
What's it based on?
Great series.
Does anyone think that was Wilem Defoes grandfather?
I see the resemblance yes
Why did Ronny end up being the bad guy in this episode when the bad guy should have been his friend Sam he's the one who started all the trouble between them by marrying Rita the women who Ronny was in love with. 😐 Just saying...
Sam was a heel, alright
Where is the universe does it say that if one man loves a woman, that is the end of the story? Sam didn't force Rita to marry him....guys need to stop being guys.

@@eddysgaming9868 true that~
They were both dipshits.
He is telling the story with a clear, young voice, but, lying in the hospital bed he is too weak to talk.
Forever the best
Pretty tall jockey!
So I'm not the only one who saw that
@@upthedownescalator630 People's lack of how the world works always leaves me astounded. In those days they raced giraffs.
Why would Sam want vengeance? He got the girl. Makes no sense
Because he was cheated out of winning the race that he bet $10,000 on.
He probably lost the girl after he lost the 10,000 lol
His future plans for retirement were all ruined by the younger jockey.
@@steinychickens9026 And with it the place he was going to buy, have a home, apparently lost the girl since he ended up in S. America, an old man riding bad horses for a pittance.
Nitpickers I suppose the TV shows and movies they produce are perfect
The filmed sequences at the track were exceptional. Were the sequences taken from a different movie or made especially for this ep do we know? I'm not the biggest fan of One Step Beyond but I do like that it's got the big MGM sets so it looks expensive.
Willem Dafoe was awesome in this episode!
Willem Dafoe? Who did he portray in this episode? He was born in 1955, so he would have been 4 years old at the time.
😂😂 I know, I was joking, but I always felt that this guy 8:18 looks a lot like him. I think I am not the only one.
Two morals of story- sometimes just keep your plans to yourself.
Also what you do have a way of coming back to you.

I never get nurses like that
Like what?
@@daddygirlchanelhines4600 Hotties!
That's why I quit playing the ponies. All my winners turned out to be all in my head. Thanks, I'm off to online "FreeSlots". [sigh]
Thou shall not lie.
Where does the breathing crisis fit in? Too many cigarettes? Sheesh!
Not really relevant to the plot. He's just a guy dying who is trying to get his story out before he goes. (The host indicates at the end that his illness is still lacking diagnosis.)
@@RSEFX I was being facetious. Sheesh!
Blastomycosis in his lungs from horse manure dust borne on the breeze.
YES, ITS AMAZING AND SO STUPID ALL THE ACTORS AND ACTRESSES THAT SMOKED IN THE OLD MOVIES. MY PARENTS KNEW SMOKING WAS VERY BAD AND DANGEROUS TO THE HEALTH BUT IT SEEMS WHEN THOSE MOVIES WERE MADE PPL ACTED LIKE SMOKING WAS GREAT AND THE INN THING TO DO.
@@zennabella1676smoking cigarettes was encouraged by md's, especially mentholated. The menthol was believed to enhance lung function. The armed services also encouraged cigarette use. Official government policy. BTW, get your clot shot... covid is coming back around .
Liked it
Cool story i always like stories about horse mounting Junkies.
how did he end up in the hospital?
Trish Glenn no it’s not
He worked for the Clintons
The host indicates at the end that they are still trying to diagnose his illness.
Smoking crack
Marlboros
How funny! For an oxygen tent theyhave a clear material hanging off a shower ring.
She was forgettable, anyway...
Ah, India, the mysterious land of customer service.
that was a long five minutes nurse. lol
Vengeance ought to be taken by quirk of god
13:50 you're not allowed to bet on a race if you're in it?
This episode made no sense, what revenge Sam wanted?he cut that boy deep stealing his cheap girl!
Sam wanted everything, his friends girlfriend and enough money to secure his easy life from then Onwards so he did deserve what he got, he also deserved it for being so stupid as telling his "Friend" all his plans while admitting that he'd stolen his girlfriend, the ultimate betrayal ! it was obvious you can't betray your so called friend and not expect them to react by betraying you in return. So Sam's misfortune was his own fault, he was wrong to try to seek vengeance for something he'd caused in the first place, shows he was selfish in life AND death.
Did him a favor scooping ther girl.
Intensive care unit = Euthanasia unit
What happened to rita?
I think a top jockey would have more than 1
O thousand
He won that race by cheating and destroyed Sam’s life . Dirty player . No matter what .And what kind of. Oxygen tent is that ? They must have ran out and thought shower curtain might work just the same.
These old shows had a lot of over acting. Too much.
Let's go Brandon F Joe Biden
And he's going strong, doing a great job. God bless America!

As much as comment section says they love this series some of the acting is so bad, as in this episode, the “dying” guy in the what looks like a duvet cover plastic covering in the hospital
