I didn't even see the comment before I thought of Physician's Formula -- but in my experience it IS a great brand! Their Butter products are crazy good for the price. And their pearl highlights is my staple goin on 10 years or something.

One tip I learnt about the highlighter- scratch off the top layer and it’s more intense! It’s baked so the top layer is a bit funky... setting spray on the highlighter brush also can intensify but I reckon you already knew that! :-)

sass McSass like a 16th of an inch or so/a couple of millimeters down - you'll be able to see a difference under that hard, baked layer on top

sass McSass it's similar to if you've ever had a metallic/foil/shimmer eyeshadow do that weird thing where the top layer kind of seals over. Not every elf highlighter has this issue, but if you notice one is particularly dull, a lil scrapey scrape can really help it!

Everybody has different needs for their makeup. I actually like the mascara but you have to know how to use it to achieve the look you want, if that makes sense...
In fairness Trixie needs makeup to work on male skin to give them serious coverage for show makeup. They know drugstore brands are going to struggle. That's the fun of it! :)
To be fair she's using it for drag an needs full coverage and high pigmentation. It's all fine for normal wear
you are probably a biological woman that doesn't need fifty layers of makeup like trixie does... so yeah if they are working for you... keep using the products

Elf is by no means the best brand of makeup, but if you’re someone like me who loves makeup but can’t afford the good stuff, it’s a good brand to go with. Most of their stuff is pretty decent, and the quality of the products tends to be higher than the price you pay for them

When my girlfriend started using makeup for the first time, early in her transition, elf cosmetics was her choice! She considered it the best of the cheap drug store brands, and it looks gorgeous on her. Honestly, it's probably just because she's gorgeous already, but not even Trixie can sway my opinion.

There's a lot of ELF products that they couldn't pay me to take (most of the basic line, like the powder where you can see the pan, that Trixie didn't like), and some that would be a steal at three times the price. The "Not Not Shape Tape" concealer is so good, it buried my 14 yo's teenage acne when he was in the Nutcracker this past Christmas. You know how fierce you have to be for that?!

Trixie babe the ELF camo cc cream in the squeezy tube is way more matte and full coverage and it's honestly really nice. It does contain SPF though if you dislike that for photography.

That bite sized eyeshadow palette is SO GOOD. I keep it in my purse for when I do my makeup on the go. I hit pan on the black shadow and had to run out to get a new one. Such a great drugstore find.

Just FYI for Trixie: Cetearyl Alcohol is classified as a 'fatty alcohol' in that it is actually a moisturising ingredient. IIRC it's a not a humectant product that draws in moisturise but it does help to fortify and protect your skin's moisture barrier. Just thought I'd clarify for you since you seemed (rightfully so, IMO) concerned about the dehydrating effect of some chemicals like isopropyl alcohol.

That elf highlighter is so bizarre, once you scrape a light layer off of the top it is actually v blinding and pretty. Someone told me that and I legit took a knife to remove the top layer and now it's my fave

I love that intense ink eyeliner pen by ELF. I just bought five of them cuz they’re only four bucks and they’re the best eyeliner pen I’ve used since Kat Von D tattoo liner. I buy a lot at a time cuz they don’t have a TON of product in them but they’re four bucks! Totally recommend getting them from their website cuz they’re cheapest there.
Those $5 elf shadow pallets are 💣! I bought like, 8 of them and they really have some beautiful color combinations.
