    Thank you so much for this initiative. He cleared so many points, it was so precise. I do have some follow up questions though. Dch and Sec DNB is more than 36 months of paediatrics training. So that plus the MRCPCH exams - will that be enough for me to enter at ST level?

      Hi, both options are ok, depends on whether you want to work in UK sooner (plab) or you prefer to stay where you are longer (mrcpch)-you need to complete all parts to get plab exemption

      Yes, it is possible. But most trainees end up doing the mrcpch to further their options there (like further training)

    Sir I am a recent mbbs graduate confused between doing md pediatrics here and then giving Mrcpch, or else to go through the plab route. I haven't done any publications or presentations in my ug. So I'm worrying whether it will affect my chance of getting a pediatric residency in UK. Would love to get your opinion sir.

      If you have the option to do MD or DNB there in India before you move to UK, it is more secure as you have a qualification. MRCpch is not a qualification and CCT is a long route and is not guaranteed

      If you are starting training fresh, you need to take the PLAB route. But I would suggest completing this postgraduation even if not your first choice. As a security measure

    So basically specialty training is a must even if you’ve done pediatrics post graduation in your home country ? Won’t that make things very long, I believe American peds residency can be completed during those same 3 years which is accepted in the uk ? I’d like your thoughts on this sir

      Exactly. The US system is shorter and is well recognised worldwide as well-but if you are talking of super-specialisation, you need further 2-3 years fellowship in US while this can be built in. And in the UK, if you have MD and some local experience, you could join at ST3-4 level, which is practically another 4-5 years of training within which time you could complete Specialisation as well if lucky (as huge competition for grid posts)

    what's MD??.I don't have a master degree if that's what u are asking.. . I am a doctor from Egypt with 4 years of experience and I finished part 1 of mrcpch and oet exam..is this enough for mti?

      Unfortunately such sub specialty fellowships are not as organized in UK as in Canada, Australia etc.

    Sir I am a post intern from india .I have completed my MBBS . I have a very big doubt regarding the degree in UK. Is there any degree in UK Equivalent to MD PAEDIATRICS AS IN INDIA.and if it is how do I go about it. Please reply sir !

      Hi, you don't get degrees but you get CCT like certificate of completion of training-you will then be eligible to work as consultant in most parts of the world. The MRCPCH is like a qualifying exam in that journey, and it is around 8 years program if you enter the training (competitive)

      GMC registration changes from limited to full quite smoothly in any post. If you mean specialist registration to work as consultant, the answer is no

      You could work in a subspecialty post to gain experience but it may not offer completion of training or certification

      Good morning. You could apply for the post advertised for that specialty and then the visa process he described. BMJ careers is a good place to look for adverts. I will pass your question to Dr Alok as well

      @@drsowmyalakshmivenkatarama2291 there are many agencies as well, that recruit overseas doctors to NHS, you can look at my LinkedIn connections where a few such agencies are there. If you are looking at specific trusts, you would find adverts on their websites too, but most come up on BMJ careers

    Sir, I have completed my MBBS and am planning to take up MRCPCH part 1 and I have a working contract with a pediatric hospital for 3 yrs ( not MD or DNB). Would that be considered as clinical experience?. Can I enter into ST 3 level after clearing all parts of MRCPCH. Also what if my visa ends before I get into St8 and complete the training? Kindly guide me sir

      Hi, yes, this would be considered work experience. I believe the ST3 is based on competitive entry and visa rules keep changing so I am not sure

    Sir I ve completed my MD followed by almost 5 years experience (senior residency plus junior consultant) have cleared my ielts.i was thinking of doing a mti fellowship in neonatology.i have plans on coming back after 2 years.Do you think this fellowship will help in career advancement /have value in the corporate sec in India if I am planning to come back to a metro /metro suburb region.have also cleared first 2 parts of mrcpch.last part pending..

      @@SridharKs Sir, I am Indian working in saudi Arabia as Paediatrician , before returning to my home country , I need to do some fellowship from abroad , So pls guide me sir , I applied for visiting fellowship in neonatology RCPCH twice , they rejected stating due to high applications , so pls help me to peruse degree and i am doing fellowship in neonatology from Medigrad online course for 6 month (I know it will not be very helpful )

      @@indianbharathhindustani visiting fellowship is usually for academics. But as I mentioned, consider posts in Canada or Australia where fellowships are more structured

    After completing dch from India
    What I see is the competition ratio for st3 st4 post is quite high for higher speciality training
    So would you say plab is a more secure route to enter peads training
    I have heard that post mrcpch we can do non training jobs.are there enough jobs ?

      Yes, if you aim to train there, getting into the system first definitely helps get a run through training in the next year or two. There should be job openings for non training posts if place is not an issue

      MRCPCH is more a training requirement in UK, you can work there after plab or with mrcpch (or through the route discussed in the video)
