What if getting involved in politics keeps the shit from hitting the fan? I value your advice and am trying to reconcile it with my understanding. If someone isn't getting involved with politics, and the conditions need to be corrected, then your choice is to either quit or (if you're not a quitter) stand up for a different way of looking at things, which involves rallying others to support your cause.
In the future, people will be more open about these things, and the old idea of workplace politics being dangerous due to backstabbing is not as apparent today. People are recording themselves getting fired, for example, putting more power into the voice of people being destroyed by politics rather than participating in it and potentially getting destroyed anyway, but at least you know you have tried.
There's enormous value in being a new or Junior Developer. In my 8 years of working with seniority in data engineering, analytics, and science, I've learned that fresh eyes see more clearly and that if you are a junior developer, you need to act with reason in what you know. However, you should still know that your fresh perspective is truly valuable.

All valid points and I agree, things are changing a lot, I can’t speak for all work environments but sadly a lot are still heavy on politics and too many people still get burned by taking part, even to a point of leaving.
Though yes, it should be assessed on a case by case basis. I appreciate you sharing your insight, it will help a lot of people
