I don’t have any Heritage Audio gear….. yet. But man, I really love the gear they’ve been putting out! I’ve been dreaming of having the Successor and having that as my bus comp, but now seeing this, get two and you’ll have a killer compact analog bus chain. Very versatile unit! Thanks for the review good sir!
Thanks for your video. I am going to get one of these for sure...maybe two. I have the 2 shelfords, 2 portico II channel strips, 2 LA-610's. I sold all my other preamps and strips. I just want to have a few really top notch pieces. This is in the same ballpark as the shelfords but a lot less expensive. This looks like a great piece of gear. We'll see how it compares. Just a different flavor.
Great video! My favourite end-game channel strip is the Manley Vox Box. The fun part of tube anything, is that you can swap out the tubes for further tone shaping. To compliment this, I'm considering the HA81a and the mini-Distressor Pump compressor from ELI. The Strip is also on the list, and the compressor is the main pull here! The preamp is the starting point, where everything gets added and subtracted from, but I've had as much success with a cheap preamp as I have an expensive one. The difference is the time spent making it sound right. The Manley, I hardly have to do anything to the sound in post, The Audient/Focusrite/RME/TOFT/Universal Audio/PreSonus/etc. etc. pres need a little help getting there, which is why I have so many saturation plugins. A great pre means less work later. So save your money if you have the time, or spend your money if you want a quicker result!
Which is worse though- the very minimal audio degradation, or printing something that you later realized is overly compressed? I don't know the answer but genuinely curious.
Presonus have the Studio Channel, which has roughly the same features, and is £260. Not the same quality, obviously, but sounds good and is affordable.
Thanks, although sibilance is found at 5-6K not 12k. I slightly dip the nearest frequency to this (4.8k) anyway but honestly this unit isn’t the best tool for tackling sibilance, a dynamic eq is far more suited
You beat me to it! I just shot a review of the Britstrip and Editing today. Your review is great! One thing though The build quality is not quite premium imo I’m curious about the new Neve Newton which is the same price but built more premium like my Neve 5211
@@pastosco Love your work. It's excellent. Emailed you this morning and was going to purchase this beautiful rack. Unfortunately, since I am near Seattle, the shipping is double the price of the rack.
@@HarvVideoAudioStuff I bought this beautiful case because of your video. Excellent craftsmanship. However, the holes to screw the unit in are square, and I did not receive any screws with the rack. All of my other racks are just standard round holes. What type of screws did you use to fasten your rack to the case? Thanks.
@HarvVideoAudioStuff influencers tend to use certain buzz words and urs is the exact wording of colt cupertone or whatever when he did spl one channel review he said "this thing oozes class" atleast 10 times 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Enjoy guys! 😄

Good call! Manley stuff is 🤤 I always wanted a vari-mu
I'm getting a vari mu tube compressor there"s only two made in the world and it's made by one dude ngl@@HarvVideoAudioStuff
Great review, great sharing❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I own a HA 1073 eq love it !!!!!!!
Rack storage looking 🔥😍
🙌🏻
A really great combo is, the Heritage Audio HA81a into the dbx 286s. The dbx "over easy" compressor is arguably better for vocals.

Good call, presonus kill it on value 👍🏻
Great video! Use the unit to deal with the sibliance in your voice. Your 12k is razor sharp.

You should do something to reduce the sibilance in your vocal audio, it’s kinda harsh
Sounds good but I’d try some kind of spectral dynamics to tame your resonant sibilants.

Hi bro, would you recommend the Britstrip for rap vocals with TLM 103 ?
Compared with the 5211
@@andrewhadjicosta6487 Just seen this, don't know If you're still looking but get the 5211 or even better the Neve Newton
Great video. I love the wooden case! Care to share where you purchased it?
Many thanks and yes sure, it’s a UK etsy seller called Pastos Co. A search for that should get you there 👍🏻
❤

Hmm it should have come with screws, I’d contact the seller. They were missing from my unit too and they had to send them separately 👍🏻
Very well presented review. Please leave a link to the wooden rack.
Sure, it’s these guys www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1108882269/
I l ove distorted Acoustic Guitars. Listen to the song White Dove by John Vanderslice or the album Return of The Frog Queen by Jeremy Enigk.
I really like the Newton channel. The shelford channel is too complicated

Gear doesn’t last a lifetime. Caps last 20 years max unfortunately
Sure, but these can be replaced. Doesn’t mean it’s the end of the line for the unit 💁🏻♂️
Lmao colt warmtone says the same shit lmao oozes class lmao
Not sure what the joke is, but ok
