  • Join me on a quick 2 day solo adventure in my Snowtrekker hot tent. I set up camp on the frozen lake so I could try fishing for brook trout while staying nice and warm next to the stove. It was the first time I tried drilling a hole inside the hot tent. This winter camping trip is from last year.

    Nice video Alec. The bush always has a certain kind of beauty in the winter months. Love the shots of you heading into the woods after dark with your head lamp to scout for fuel for the stove. Props too for showing everything doesn't always go to plan as well; setting up your tent and then the wind came whistling. Finally good on you for getting out this time of year, experiencing the wilderness when most things are sleeping. Thanks for taking us along and keep adventuring!

      Nothing as quiet and peaceful as a snow covered forest. There's always some challenge or mistake made, I need to remember to show more of that sometimes. Thanks for joining me on the adventure!

    This is last winter I assume? Lots of work for an overnight, so very much appreciated video 😊

      Yes it was! Winter has been slow to start this year and not much snow at all. Thanks!

    Right out of the gate. Props for even getting to that spot. It looked like some serious hard work. Hat off to you!

      That uphill portage is harder than it looks. Paige and I have had to double up on toboggans to pull up that before. Always worth the effort to get out there though. Thanks for the kudos!

    Looks like a great time and a beautiful day, amazing camera work on the way in especially! My favorite way to light the stove when it's empty is to burn a bunch of pine twigs and branches in there first to heat it up and then load logs on the coals from the branches. Cheers!

      That's a great technique! Gets the stove going quick for sure. Thanks for watching 🙂

    Lots of work for a one nighter ! And I thought that setting up the Snow trekker was straight forward... it might be hard for one person if the wind picks up real bad 😮 . Glad you had a nice trip , too bad the fish didnt cooperate , maybe this year ...thanks for sharing

      Ya! If it got too windy I'd probably have to set up in the trees for some shelter from the wind but it's not too complicated if the weather is calm. Ya hoping for better luck next time. Thanks for watching 🙂

      AoA is better than ODB, IMHO.
      I prefer the more comprehensive story-telling of AoA.
      ODB editing is too choppy-fast for my liking, from what I've seen.
      Just my preference, but your comparison/compliment does make sense since ODB is a huge channel with great outdoor adventures. Lots of appeal.
      Anyhow, love this vid Mr. Alec. It's pumping me up for my winter trek coming in Feb through Algonquin.
      Cheers!

    What pot is that? Thank you

    • @AleconAdventures
      @AleconAdventures  Před 7 měsíci

      I was using 2 pots from a GSI Glacier stainless steel pot set. A 4 litre pot for boiling water and a smaller one for cooking/eating.

    What is that reflector under the stove you installed?

    • @AleconAdventures
      @AleconAdventures  Před 7 měsíci

      It's a piece of reflective fiberglass material that Snowtrekker sells, works great, and is lightweight.

    Most people think that this is just easy work, but its not. You have to have some serious knowledge, strength, and experience in order to do this stuff.

      I've spent a lot of time and had a lot of practice in the bush in all seasons that's for sure! Thank you for the kudos and thanks for watching the video!
