  • Factory Demo of the early 1990's Kawai GB2 Session Trainer.
    =============================================
    The GB-2 is a great unit, still can find them on eBay for around $35.00 (or wait till one is NOT posted at some high price with outrageous shipping!).
    =============================================
    If you have one and would like to sell, trade or let me borrow it, please contact me at: GBsessionTrainer@aol.com and I can eMail a list of cards that I own. (I currently have 21 of the 26-various GB2 ROMs in my collection)

    Hey, that cat is great! I still have mine, bought new at the Greater Southwest Guitar Show in Dallas, TX (I think 1994), and plan on working with it again!

    I bought mine when they first came out, it was my backing when I used to play guitar in pubs early 90's, used it with a data disc machine via midi, still play around with it now even though I have other machines and computers..... I hear 80's music is making a come back lol :-)

    Step outside of the manual directions once you've mastered them! I have used midi in/out in new ways to have the GB2 "play" other midi instruments, and used a Yamaha sequencer to create loops on top of others, delayed too! A Casio PG 380 guitar synth was basically the trigger when the GB2 was sending signals to two guitar amps!

    This song is "Killing Floor" by Chester Burnett aka Howlin' Wolf. Led Zeppelin did a great cover of this song. They called it "The Lemon Song". It's on their album Led Zeppelin II (1969).

    Sure would like to find some cards. Bought the unit back when but never bought any cards, figured they would always be around. Seems they are hard to find.

      When I bought mine at a thrift for $5 usd and brought home I thought the same thing. I absolutely love the beautiful bite, thump, and sizzle of the my Thomas Organ Co. BAND BOX, same that Grand Master Flash used.
      Found as external units, but mostly built into organs (1966'-1979'), the simple single transistor drum sounds, 2 for white noise circuit for SNARE, HiHat, Cymbals circuit, and 2 on the Snare Drum Roll, and Castanets, but believe it or not the 1 transistor drum kit sounds are amazing!!
      The companion direct plug-into-Band Box, *PLAYMATE* was found on about 3/4ths of the many thousand Thomas Organs (and rare stand-alone BB/PM) was the *Preset* *Beats* *Sequencer* with cool old school washing machine buttons*). CURRENTLY I AM BUILDING AN ARDUINO SEQUENCER TRIGGERER' FOR THE BAND BOX. Oh' another thing, the Playmate is dynamically controlled by the lower keyboard and bass pedals to respond with more or less emphasis depending on the combined volume variations due to more/less keys/pedals held. Incredible organs.
      *Fender also used the famous washing machine 3-way (poss later 5-way) blade switches on their Strat guitars. Leslie speakers (Electro Music) also used parts from this, iirc Westinghouse washing machine company.
      Why these three companies? Because...THOMAS ORGAN CO., FENDER, and LESLIE all resided in the same town of SUPULVEDA,CA USA. :-)
      Please do not abort organs, play them!
