      Augusto O.R 9.0 is easily achievable with the 3rd and 4th gens because they come from the factory with a 8.4L. You can typically bore them .6 liters out no problem. Gens 1 & 2 are 8.0L stock, my Gen 2 is bored out to a 8.5L. If you added new sleeves, you could go even further than that.

      I'm a huge fan of the Viper. It looks stunning and its engine is practically indestructible. The 8.4L V10 of the run out production model came fully forged from the factory. A low stress 20 valve , fully forged pushrod engine pretty much guaranteed bulletproof reliability. Upping the displacement to 9.0L with over 720 WHP is really impressive. But to then compare it to a McLaren 720s raises some issues. Firstly its unfair to compare a modified car to a standard car. With that in mind wouldn't it be more sporting to race that 9.0L viper against the new McLaren 765 LT? Either way the 720s is lighter than the viper. More aerodynamic than the viper. Its equipped with a far superior gearbox than the viper ensuring it remains in the power band more successfully than the viper. I doubt the viper would win in reality. Assuming it did win the driver uninvolved, talentless drag race. The McLaren would murder it around a race track.

    For those saying its not impressive since it's a 9 L motor. Keep in mind that this is a pushrod engine that dates back to the late 80s early 90s with no power adders. OHV engines usually need to be larger in displacement to makeup for the smaller cylinder heads as opposed to an OHC motor. The one thing about a large displacement motor is that you don't have to wind it out to make power out of it. The situation I am creating is hypothetical, but 600 HP from lets say a 6L motor is not the same as 600HP from a 1.8L motor. The 6L engine will make the power much sooner and it will make more power under the curve while the 1.8L engine will be peaky and only make the 600 HP at the upper end of the mid range to the very top, especially if its heavily boosted. I'm an Import guy over domestics, but 700+ WHP NA on 93 octane is NOTHING to sneeze at, regardless of how big or small the displacement of the motor is.

    • @dannyllerenatv8635
      @dannyllerenatv8635 Před 5 lety +1

      @@RealCraftIV I mean hey dude at the end of the day large and small displacement motors both have their place! A hillclimb or rallycar would definitely benefit a high revving small displacement motor for example while something like this has no turbos, no supercharger, no nitrous and it makes 700+ wheel horsepower on your everday 93 octane pump gas(not E85, not race fuel) which is what a lot of the fastest production cars put down WITH power adders. It's a solid build. Whether someone would rather use a high revving or torquey engine on a road course could defend on the weight of the vehicle or the preference/driving style of the driver. They all have their place!

    • @RealCraftIV
      @RealCraftIV Před 5 lety

      @@dannyllerenatv8635 yeh man for sure, you mentioned rally and hillclimbing, both of which are basically dominated by small punchy engines, equipped with anti lag systems alot of the times to compensate for lag and high-torque gearbox+differentials to go with it. Small engines definitely have their place (I absolutely adore both rally and hillclimb) But when talking solely about power output, people tend to get mislead - simply look at the maximum power output, without factoring in the linearity of the power and torque curves on dyno graphs and factoring in the possible lag often acquainted with small displacement engines . Bottom line, even in 2018, there aint a replacement for displacement bahaha

    This Viper could easily pull 1200 all motor HP on a 9.0, I've seen the 8.4s from this generation pull 900 N/A. Turbo'd, that'd be one hell of a car, that'd think 2500 was a breeze, hell, it could probably go up to 4000.

Literally the only difference between 1 & 2 and 3 & 4 is hard top to targa/soft top, the rest of the cars is exactly the same. You really count that as a separate generation? While the body is a Viper, if it doesn’t have a V-10 magnum, the heart of the beast, it’s not a Viper in my mine. The Viper never had a 9.0L engine, the largest one was an 8.4L V-10 and that is what you got in the ACR
