Using UV Glue to REPAIR Glass Furniture

- Hi, this video shows a glass computer desk being repaired using UV glue purchased from eBay. When repairing glass furniture UV glue is ideal because it is hard to see the adhesive that bonds the metal to the glass, so the finish is nice.
Many thanks, Vince. - Jak na to + styl
Thanks for posting. Clearly explained walk- through tutorial. Worked perfectly for me.
I am addicted to your videos, good job
Thanks, this is great! I need to do this to a glass table I have - leg needs glueing back in one corner.
HI Vince Love your videos, keep up the good work
Great video Vince.
Thank you, Your explanation was really detailed and helpful. I wish you had linked the glue to make it easy to access

Well done Excellent video very simple BUT PRACTICAL VIDEO.
Thats a really nice glass desk
It is until it starts coming apart
Good idea
thanks!
please, can you show item link? or exact name of this glue?
Hey Vince or anyone...Is this glue the same as loca glue?..I have some left over from cell phone repair..wondering if it would work in this instance as well?...
Can i apply the uv glue for a glass top on a wooden table top?
if we open back the glue, we can use the uv light?
When you said not to look directly at the UV light it was too late. I had already looked at it.
How did you feel? lol
Interesting. Didn't know there was such a thing as UV glue. If that's what the manufacturer used then hopefully it'll be strong enough
It almost certainly will have been a UV cured cyanoacrylate adhesive the manufacturer used it has been around for at least 30yrs or more.
Cool
Thx Vince for taking time to put out video but as MSDOS4 pointed out a heavy glass drawer with a a keyboard sitting on it is In my opinion not safe being supported with just glue and no mechanical support.(My shelf has just come away at three of the four glued areas and I had to let the shelf hang down which made the last glued area come apart)Not a good advert for the manufacturer or any glass furniture manufacturer.
I am going to try to work out a better solution to hold heavy 6mm thick heavy undershelf with keyboard sitting on it
in place rather than rely on four glued areas.
If I come up with a solution I will post it on CZcams.
I know this is an old video but feel the need to comment anyway. Acetone lovely stuff and works but to remove cured cyanoacrylate like the original adhesive Nitromethane works better but is not easy to get. After cleaning the old glue residue and re wiping with acetone would be all you need, it wouldn't be necessary to use Isopropanol as well.
If only UV glue could be developed to be appropriate for making an aquarium. It would be goodbye Mr ugly silicon. It's waiting for someone to make millions!
Well they do make them out of acrylic and use a similar method? The joints are fused together chemically and buffed so there is no caulking needed.....
@@unibrow9 acetone welds acrylic
I've heard about the UV activated glue. I hope it holds up with that glass, although it's probably tempered glass I would still be unsure of it.
Can you post a link of the glue?
Can you please provide link for the product?
Do you have a link?
How to removte thats sir.... i needed
I wanna see you fix a air plane next lol.
great idea vince but lord i'd never trust it xD
be careful CZcams when using solvents to clean glass if the class is hot and you wipe solving on it like alcohol it will break instantly so be careful
this a great job 👍👏but what is the name of this glue .pleeeeeeeeeeas😯😯😓😓😓😓 why don't you answer😫😫😫😣😣
Hello.Does the glue and the light come together or one buys them separately?
Just use sunlight its the UVC that cures it those little blue LED's will work but the UVC in sunlight is far better. and quicker or a UVC lamp but with those things (UVC Lamps) looking at it is very bad and will damage eyes but it isn't necessarily permanent If exposure isn't for too long. But it does feel like you have grit in your eyes for a while. Don't ask how I know that :-) Excessive exposure will blind you though, how much UVC in the eyes is excessive? Any direct UVC exposure to the eye is too much. the blue light from the LED's is barely UV at all but it can still be dangerous it contains mainly blue light with UVA, B and some C components.
please what is the name of the thing you pasted
Does this work on discs??
Should have used rearview mirror glue for automobiles
Please what’s the name of that round silver thing that holds the glass

What type of glue and UV light will work?
Any UV cured cyanoacrylate adhesive intended for glass repairs will do it, and sunlight is the best and safest source of UV for this application but UVC works best if you have a UVC light source UV steriliser wand is UVC.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
*looks away from the UV*
Wait... I'm watching this on a monitor... I'm not there.... :|
Didnt say what glue apply in it…
Hello
Hi 🙂
In the Hall of the Mountain King ???
Uhhhhhhh, a GLASS shelf hanging by glue with NO mechanical support. Yeah, no thanks.
Bolts through with rubber/silicone and metal washer is a must for myself. Couldn't ever trust that even though I know there are glues that make permanent bonds and are tougher than the materials being glued.
Funny how the original maker of this table thought "She be alright no wackers... just some glue and it will stay together"
Uv glue(if it's real) will break the glass before the glue gives out. The table didn't have real uv glue from factory.
AndyD really, then is it work well?
link or name of glue pls and it still holds?
It’s fixed and hideously stuck in the 80’s

I would stop buying crap from flea bay if I were you mate, seems like everything you buy is broken, or needs repairing what a pain in the arse. Some people never learn. everything in your house was bust, did you buy that on flea bay too.
He said its 6 years old lol he brought the glue from ebay
UVB light cannot pass through glass LOL
UVA passes through normal glass including car side windows
Yes it can.... LOL
@@lyndonp6296 nope
UV C does and that is what cures the adhesive hence leaving it in the sun. Sunlight contains all the UV wavelengths.
