Life's What You Make It
With that superb Linn Sondek, it would be great to hear The Blue Nile's first album, "A Walk Across The Rooftops", released in 1983 by Linn Records. The 1989 follow-up, "Hats", is superb as well. A friend of mine worked for Linn in Glasgow at the time and supervised the glass mastering for the CD release of "Hats".

The embedded audio codec is good (OPUS?), better than Spotify, i'm running right now a spectrum analyzer and it gets to 20KHz flat, if it wouldn't for the limited digital compression it would get higher than 20K. Dynamic range is good too.

this LP recording sounds better than iTunes, better bass, richer sound.
Yeah, no loudness war here, must be a precision work done, dynamic range is small, no games, just richy sound😊
This is why they will never get my money: they all offer remastered soups only.
@@sc0orEarly CD releases (prior to around 1994) can also have pre-loudness war mastering. For that format, release year is relevant.
To affirm above it’s not the format but the mastering and dynamic range that matters.
Vinyl is superior

They were a fabulous band. This album is probably my favourite one. I always seem to play it, year after year. It's a shame prefab sprout had not put as much effort into their production, as they also wrote some fantastic stuff.

this was a 80´s band ,maybe the best there was not even the U2 have all songs close to Talk Talk quality, they had a short life but from LP to LP they seem to embrace others ways of playing ,the first and last album are apart in the way they played music ,always records ,cds destroyd by their bad sound, clean but 30% of what we could hear in a turtntable, this Linn is a example of trhat but i have a late 60´s thorens professional range that sounds at most high level of quality this to say that todays turntables and cartridges are beneath all this models from second half of the 60´s till 1980 excluded, most of the sounds recorded aren´t heard in a cd this album in cd uis a good example ,there are new turntables with the same quality but not all have 15.000€ to buy one with trhe same quality of a early 70´s turntable whatever the brand it as and cartridge,normally the ones that came with the turntables were already perfect
