  • The good, the bad and the ugly of tropical ecology fieldwork!
    Filmed during 12 - 16 September 2022
When I say this vlog has it all, I mean it! Some of the most unique experiences of my life - working as a scientist in a rainforest, handling human poo in the name of science, surviving a thunderstorm and sampling stunning species of butterflies - ahhh the list goes on and on! It's been about 7 months since I returned from this trip, and I'm currently working on the report I need to submit using the data and results from this fieldwork. I'm in awe that I got to go on this trip, so surreal - honestly the only thing motivating me to complete this report. WATCH THIS WHOLE VLOG, I promise every minute has something cool (and bloopers at the end) 😋
If you haven't watched Part 1, watch that here!! • the WILDEST Cambridge ...
As students intending to specialise in zoology or plant sciences in our final year, we got the chance to apply for attending a field course in Panama. Around 30 of us got the chance to go to the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute in Panama. I am very grateful that Girton College was able to cover 75% of my trip's expenses.

I just watched this on my lunch break and was glad to have finished eating around the time the poo section began. Even so I felt a wave of nausea 😅Thank you for amending the protocol to identify the dung beetles alive and release them. Hopefully now you have demonstrated this is perfectly viable it can become standard procedure. And thanks as always for sharing this trip. I loved how much wildlife you encountered with capybaras and coatis wandering onto the scene.

Yesss some of the trickiest footage to capture but glad I went out of my comfort zone to find random trees as tripods and people as videographers for me 🙌🏽🥰
Hard work indeed! And this is such a small scale compared to professional scientific research - truly hats off!!
      Thanks mommy 💛
