- Cupix has been offering 3D mapping and photogrammetry using 360° videos. I find this AI technology to be innovative and useful for us architects and architect-alikes. Watch this video to find out what CupixVista is, and how they are helping the process of capturing and documenting the real space into 3D and point clouds.

I do water damage restoration in commercial buildings. I’ve always wanted to offer something like this to a customer. It’s either been too complex or too expensive. This looks promising.
Nice! Is accuracy a big matter for you? Or just digital twin that's 'good enough?'
@@JosephKim No just the digital twin
I see.
No probs Joseph love your vids, just bought Insta 360 one R base on your video
I have a substantial metalwork business here in the Uk based on your video I’m going to trial it surveying for point clouds.
Thankyou
Keep up the good work you are having slow but a positive growing following well done.
Kind regards
Mick
Thank you!
After watching your video, you touched on all the reasons why it is sometimes best to hire a professional as-built company. I think this is great for a first-time walkthrough of a site, but not for as-builts.
That's fair! I don't think it would truly replace the method of manual measurement, but it is a good backup!
When you say "point cloud" what file type can it produce? I do "laser scanning" with lidar as opposed to photogrammetry. We need that accuracy. However, sometimes we just need to see the environment in general, and laser scanning is not budget friendly. Can I use these "point clouds" in autodesk products as I do with my scan files? We usually use recap as the bridge. Recap uses fls, e57, obj, as well as other file types
Excellent video dude
Thank you!
Is it possible to automatically overlay on a plan where the photos are taken from?
No, but there is a way to overlay on the map automatically.
Very good vidéo & tuto 👍👍 will try soon if possible, Can we only use insta360 vidéo files?
They support Theta X too.
Hey, Kim! Very interesting, and congratulations on your work. Do you think it would be possible to create 3D models of forests with a 360 camera?
Ive seen it work well in the landscape areas with lots of trees. I think as long as you have light, you might be able to get some results. I will have to test it!
Very cool. I have been waiting for something like this for my 360 camera. Definitely curious how much it will cost out of beta. I currently use two different lidar apps on my iPad for this purpose. And there is a lot of drift, enough I will never consider it reliable. I will definitely sign up to test this out.
I too have tested quite a few LiDar solutions with iPad. IMO, Cupix suffers much less from drifting. In either of the solutions, I notice the doorways to be the biggest culprits. In this case, you can pause there to make sure we have things extra-aligned. The only downside is the fact that you can't see the progress.
Amazing thank you for a good clip , I want to know about system sane as 3d Gaussian Splatting.
Interesting, I had to look that up! Is that needed for high resolution images?
Great video ! Is it possible to open 3D on Archicad as well?
Not sure! Can Archicad take point cloud directly?
joseph, thank you for the great content. i was wondering if you could do a tutorial on how to convert the pointcloud to be used in sketchup?
You can use scan essentials.
Why is better insta 360 x2 than x3?
It is because they were still optimizing X3 and RS 1 inch. But they now support two very well as well ;)
Interesting , when do we know the price?
Is the point cloud generated from this camera more clear and accurate than the matter port pro3?
Not sure about the timing of the pricing. As far as the qality, I'd say Pro 3 would offer better visual. But that is more expensive and time consuming. Different usage.
Hi Joseph, thanks for your very detailed and clear video. I was wondering if Cupix would be better than Matterport in some cases. For my own MEP business I have to do a few surveys on location of big technical rooms which I have to unravel later on. I also work in Revit. Do you advice Matterport or Cupix to get a better understanding of big technical rooms?
Thanks in advance, Kind regards Wesley
I've been using CupixVista over Matterport simply due to its price point. Even after beta ends, I feel that Matterport's price plan doesn't work so well for type of work that I do.
I tried this, and I've noticed that the point cloud generated through CupixVista has a very low density which makes taking the measurements of details (like windows & doors) difficult. Am I losing something, or do you have the same experience? I'm wondering if re-scanning the areas that have been already scanned can increase the density of cloud and its precision (?) Unlike the iPad lidar apps, this method has a very good alignments that reduces the chance of drifting.
I haven't used other point cloud services extensively, but I think Cupixvista has lesser density. But I find it good enough to place walls. It may be challenging to measure window depth and such. Going slow and making sure to pause on more drift prone areas can definately improve the results.
Thanks
Thank YOU!
Your welcome Joseph
Hey what do you think about giraffe 3d?
I think you mean, Giraffe360. Had to look that up! I can't say much as I have no experience with them, but as they use a proprietary camera, it is a bit harder to get into.
Hi Joseph,
Another great video, helping explore some of the surveying options that are difficult to find!..
Have you continued to use this work process in your measured surveys, and does it still offer a positive solution?
Many thanks for all your work!
Thank you! And yes, I have been doing this on all of my site visits now. Great sanity check/point cloud workflow. I can't say it will be forever free though ;)
