Kind of surprised he never transformed the scythe with L1 for a faster sword moveset
"Tonight, Gehrman joins the hunt"
To this day, it's still my favorite line in any Soulsborne game. Watching a supposedly crippled old man *stand up* out of his wheelchair just to kick your ass, AFTER you've slain potentially multiple Old Ones is just so badass.
Yeah, he's pretty cool
There's a way to see that fight as Gherman sparring you of his terrible fate.
Beware an old man in a profession where it is common to die young
That line alone is good but I like the full cutscene better
sorry to go on a rant here but i keep seeing people say things like this and it's not pleasant. gehrman is not "supposedly crippled" because wheelchairs are not only for people who are completely unable to stand/walk (and note that you can even see him holding a walking cane while he's in his chair - he has multiple mobility aids! not uncommon for disabled folks!). given the description of the blue elixir saying hunters can use sheer force of will to stay conscious beyond normal limits, even if it put gehrman in incredible pain to stand up and move around again like he does in his boss fight, the first hunter would certainly be capable of pushing himself through it. that only makes his attempted act of mercy even more incredible, don't you think?

Gehrman: "I'll try spinning! That's a good trick!"
*it wasn't *
I love the Secret Starting Class series.
I've done a grave scythe only run and I'm shocked it worked out so badly for you. I did do a lot of powerstance jump attacks though, nearly instantly bleeds stuff and does great poise damage.
Well, when you use it in such a way to try and prove something to some no name that says spinning slash is really good on it, you'll have a not so good time. As such, pointless complaining just to prove a dumb point.
@@ghastlyanarchy1720what 💀
@KinaIchi referring to the pointless complaining in the video about certain things being talked about as being good, yet when he does it, it's bad. Yet he keeps using it instead of trying something else with the Scythe, just to show "it's bad" intentionally.
Coming from a universe with an unending dream / nightmare that drove Germahn crazy, I dont think he would be happy in a universe with constant reincarnation 😂😂 great vid mate!
That's why he's so violent
3 secret starting class ideas
1.omen killer
2. Crucible knight
3. Tree sentinel
Gehrman may be bloodborne but can he get AIRBORNE enough to make the swag jump first try?
I think he fails one of them 😢
@tulokthebarbrarian2033 it's because the scythe is too heavy
"Can't imagine dual wielding would be much better than 2 handing" it increases your bleed dramatically and allows you to get more hits
Okay so healing on crits may not be exactly how the rally system works, but crits do restore your full rally meter regardless of the amount of hp missing or damage dealt and there's a Caryll rune, Blood Rapture, that does heal on crits, so it's perfectly bloodborne accurate.
25:12 Yeah weird fun fact, jumping actually seems to change the hurtboxes on the character model. The ones on the legs are basically removed while in the air.
I remember using Grave scythe a while ago, spinning slash was good against mobs and hoards but for bosses i got Phantom Slash from Forbidden Lands, absolutely rips and has solid stance damage, also helps with the range of the scythe move set.
The best part is, the phantom shares your weapon buff, so use something like black flame blade and you’re getting a 2-for-1 special on flame-grilled whatever the hell you’re deleting
I know this is a completely different run, but I did a run power stancing the Halo scythe and the Winged Scythe, the jump attack when power stancing reapers is really strong, it does good stance pressure, has great reach, and actually stacks bleed decently quickly. And yes the most powerful part of the build was the Halo scythe's ash of war, but my point is that you can make reapers fun and powerful, but not quite in the spirit of this challenge
It sounds like something that might work for a Ruby in Elden Ring though
Ugh, that farm site. I spent hours there trying to get the executioner axe from the bulky boy over there
Also, I’m happy for Darkbeast Parl for getting a new job as Officer Murphy down in Krat instead of getting stuck at a dead end job in Yahargul. It’s hard to leave small towns to pursue your dreams.
Banished knight would be a great secret starting class
Considering how much he didn't like the farming for this one, i can imagine he'd avoid farming a full armor set and possibly two swords, which is understandable, but a bit sad
You can murder Bernahl for his set of armour, which is more than close enough.
Then we have Banished Knight Swords at home all over the place.
only been following for maybe half a year and this is by far my new favorite channel
fairly informative, the comedy hits, and the build challenge runs are neat to see
What's most hilarious to me is that while this build may have struggled in places near the mid-late game, I have complete faith this thing could fucking obliterate in PvP. Bloodborne moment
Cold infused Loretta's Slash with magma shot or even crystal barrage as the blunderbuss would have performed significantly better
Blue Gehrman
Loretta's Slash is KINDA like his jump attack in Bloodborne, if you squint a lot.
@@TheMoogleKing93squint your eyes and turn down the saturation of your monitor
I think the coolest thing about your videos is combination of unlikely weapons and spells put together to make cool characters both inside and outside of the souls series, definitely one of the most entertaining elden ring youtuber out there rn
Man I love the scythe, it's my favorite weapon.
Edit: having now finished the video, I can't DEFEND the scythe, I just love it
Yeah, me too, I used it a lot in my first playthrough although I wasn't trying to "main" a weapon, I wanted to experiment. I remember swapping to the moonveil whenever I was having trouble, but I still think the reapers are cool AF.
I burst out laughing at "Mohg is some kind of phile for sure" 😂😂😂
I like how the community all collectively head cannoned bloodborne 2 taking place in or on water.
I think it's the Lovecraft-y stuff
Bloodborn 2 in Venice
Damn, not caring about Fashion Souls is not the hot take I was expecting today
I didn't come here to make friends
you can get a full leyndell knight set before ever setting foot in Altus due to the one in Liurnia. You can get the lightning slash skill they use in altus without fighting a boss as well. That is a secret starting class I just started using, and it was VERY fun.
Still loving this series. There’s finally a thing I know! You can dodge the Elden Beast’s wave of gold by rolling sideway, not towards or away but left or right. No, it doesn’t make sense, but it was the only way I finished that fight in my RL1 run.
"Spinning slash get's interrupted too easily." Has 10 poise.
Great video as always! these are only becoming more clever as the series is going on
Love going back through all the old builds! Congrats again on 100k! Yall earned it my dudes❤️
The Grave Scythe isn't that bad, I used it for my Pricsilla build a while ago and it was pretty fun. My only complaint was that the weapon was a little slow. In the first play through it took maybe an hour or so to solo Malenia but in new game plus i refined the build and somehow first tried her.
I didn't think it was that slow personally, but I did a scythe build immediately after doing my night cavalry halberd build so my scale for speed might be skewed.
Sword Dance completely changes the game, honestly. It does the best damage and stance pressure of most weapons that aren’t colossal or somber, too, so it’s a lot better than it gets credit for
Love the video. I wish you had more fun with the reaper. The winged scythe is one of my favorites. Fun not good but fun.
I think its decent in PVE but amazing in PVP. Reapers in general are very underrated though, long reach, slashing moveset, bleed, decent catalogue of AoWs.
Yeah I agree, I loved playing with the reapers (Other than the basic Scythe, that poor thing is just worse than the Grave scythe in every way other than dex scaling.)
ELITE song choices on this one my man!! Love the vid as always
Honestly surprised you didn't try to do Melania as early as possible since her Great rune is the one that makes the combat actually LIKE Bloodborne with the health recover after you get hit.
Another great video! Thanks for always bringing high quality videos for us!
Thank you for the video Phil, I also love Bloodborn. That dodge on liturgical town was superb🤩👏👏
Awesome vid again yay thanks !
Oh good that deal went through. Triples, triples of the nova.
I pretty much given up on elden ring waiting for dlc then you do another vid and the want to play part of me comes back ....luv the vids m8
I cant wait to see that Fabian Vid, i fuckin love Dimension 20 so i look forward to seeing those characters in these runs
I had great fun with the reaper in my first run. the spinning weapon ash you get from rogier is hilarious on it
The night before this was uploaded I was watching Bloodborne Elden Ring builds
Guten tag! Congrats on learning Gehrman!
12:35 fun fact, there was actually gonna be a gargoyle fight, but it got cut. The model was cool, but in retrospect im thankful for not having a gargoyle gang fight
I know what I expected when I googled Dragon Knot, but I was not expecting an actual knot. Never let them know your next move.
Oh was that a Survivor 43 Jesse reference? Hell yeah
The reapers can be pretty nice, though their poise breaking potential isn't great which was probably part of the issue for you. Clearly ya love your poise weapons, so it's fair that reapers aren't your style.
I thought Elden Ring was DS2 2
Yeah, but it's also a Bloodborne prequel
I’ve never played blood borne but I feel like I learned a lot about it
I want you know how much I loved the ptsd level of anticipation the back to back Thomas the tank engine joke gave me. every other time you said something was gonna go well in the rest of the vid, I was on the edge of my seat. 👍
ahh that weird skull mine and the single Rancor r in the Elden ring reforged mod, it makes death stuff actually good
27:45 LOL you think the devs thought on a proper way to dodge the duck dance? They just made the attack, said "the players will find a way, they always do", then call it a day.
The grave scythe was the first weapon I used in elden ring so it has sentimental value and i just love the weapon
Same, I went with a suggestion from a person in an Elden ring discord server and ended up with phantom slash grave scythe and black flame blade
Fun build but I may have gone crazy and tried to work too many things into that build cause I ended up over leveling, having like 30 in everything except health, which was like in the 50s , and doing subpar damage
Now im a dedicated dex build frying the shit out of enemies with lightning after having a little too much fun with dragon king’s cragblade and BOG
These videos are the highlight of my day every time i see a new one uploaded :) ty for continuing these fun elden ring builds edit: powerstance scythes were INFINITELY better than just one in my experience
Tonight, the boss music plays for me.
*Ranni the Witch is typing…*
Architect of the Night of the Black Knives? Bit problematic
Yooo this is gonna be great, was not expecting a bloodborne themed class
Gotta mix it up sometimes!
Quick tip for farming the skeletons pick up the holy blade ash of war behind the marika church were you get the tear flask. It will make the farming way faster
scythes are farming tools that can be used as weapons, so it’s designed to primarily cut low wide arcs
I'm a little surprised to not see Astel correctly identified as Amygdala!
After using the grave scythe myself, I can say I have quite a bit of fun with it. It's not too bad if you use Loretta's Slash with a cold infusion, then put on some high poise armor to tank through damage.
Love these 🎉
Finally Bloodborne 2
Should have summoned the Jellyfish to be the squid.
I tried a build once that required farming up two of those scythes. That was fun.
Great video as always, mate. Did ya try Lords of the Fallen? What did you think about it?
I love all the abigail thorn references haha
Spinning Weapon AOW is great on scythes, stacks bleed and winged sword etc !
The sarcasm in unrivalled 💀
Uh actually the character of Gehrman is not in Elden Ring at all I can’t believe you’d clickbait me like this.
It's what we do best
I love the grave scythe That was the weapon I used to beat the game in my first playthrough.
Should of used the mantas leg curved sword thing as the weapon changes when used like the one in Bloodborne 😮
Love this pops up as soon as I'm starting a new bloodbourne playthrough
Not sure if you know about it, but there is a Flying Greyll cheese that works really well. Start at the grace and cross the bridge to aggro him. Walk him back across the bridge towards the grace. once you are near the tree on the right in front of the grace, hide behind it while crouching until he de-aggros. He'll start walking towards that circle design on the bridge in front of the tree. Once he is on top of that circle, hop on Torrent and re-aggro him then immediately get back behind the tree (still on torrent). Make sure to face Greyll to not get hit by the fire. Once he flies up into the air, jump around the left side of the tree and ride torrent along the outside of the bridge. Get to the branch hanging over the wall and wait. He'll land on top of the tree, walk towards you and will fall. He'll float above the ground t-posing for a while, then he'll just drop and die. It took me a few tries to get it right, but once you do, it works all the time. Just make sure he is INSIDE that circle before you re-aggro.
A scythe is a tool for harvesting grain. Grain which grows toward the sun. Sweeping the blade horizontally allows you to reap the rewards.
Grimly.
Also Nagakiba is the name of the weapon, proper noun, but it is a naginata, noun. The naginata was made to thrust through the legs of horses from the ground or to stab riders of horses so that they are not alive.
Grimly. You are welcome.
Bro this guide is insane. Whos supposed to be able to follow this.
I think even fashion souls players understand that it doesn’t matter, but that’s why they wanna look good
I always do qt least 1 scyth build for fun. It takes some getting used to
Spinning weapon is the ash of war you should put on the scythe
Power stance dual scythes with jumping Light attacks I think is actually better than 1 scythe. That’s how I’d did my scythe play-through. Spamming jump lights with bloodhound step got me through Malenia. It’s range keeps you just safe enough and bloodflame blade stacks well with their innate bleed. Not amazing, but doable.
I used Occult/Sword Dance Grave Scythe on my first playthrough (also my first playthrough of any Fromsoft game) and I figured it must be completely overpowered because I destroyed pretty much every boss in the game except Maliketh lol
Dude camera really is the thing to kill me the most
Ngl, that scythe is my fav weapon, though I used scythes nonstop in DS3
Where is mah Pizza cutter?!
Volcano Manor!
You also could've farmed for a vulgar militia saw and used that. It's got the halberd moveset and decent bleed.
Yeah, so as it turns out the two-handed moveset of the reapers is the worst, it is either same speed or even slower than the one-handed moveset, a powerstanced reapers run would probably be less agonising.
Just finalized the deal, I have triples on the spinning slash now.
I would have accepted swapping to the mantis blade.
Also Missy Higgins and Garth Marengi deep cuts? 🎉
Mantis Blade just doesn't have the reach.
One might ask "doesn't that hit too close to home?"
Gehrman is my favourite souls boss of all time such a same I couldnt make it for the stream. maybe next time though
request to do a dark magician run for all the yugioh enjoyers? (gravity spells/throwing knives with cruicible knight/renalla helmet drip)
you should do one of these with the godslayer greatsword
Idk about you but an underwater souls like kind of like bioshock sounds awesome
Oh Elden Ring is my dog's favorite video game
The spin on ner juice and patches are were spinning slash is good aka PvP
There are also 3 versions of spin slash: one blade (fast), twin blade (many hits), and scythes (slow)
After this run it might be nice to have an excuse to run rivers of blood
Just when i've started BB again ^^
Tulok, go on! You are cool af!
"now that we've finished him off we can go into his hole" damn tulok you just gonna push radahn over the edge like that?
Braces for Ranni's roast of this
How about 2 of this scythe for a Friede cosplay? One with frost and another with Black Flame Tornado?
can't believe you didn't use the vulgar militia saw
I love the look of the grave scythe buttttt….yea. It lacks hard. And sure you can do weird dual weird jump attack build but that just looks weird. And I like jump builds. Still always happy to see a new upload and loving this series. I know it’s been overdone but the guts build is honestly fun. You can get the weapon and some pretty decent look alike gear pre remembrance.
You could do a run as Magnus the Beast Claw, since you can get all of his equipment without even fighting him
