Glad you're giving Bill the recognition he deserves for the initial idea of the technique. I was there at one of the first classes he taught just after he super-glued a rubber O-ring to the body of one of the original Laser Products handheld lights. I was taken with the concept but the light wouldn't fit in a duty-belt light pouch with an O-ring so I got a section of an old bicycle inner tube and wrapped it around the tube of my light. Worked like a champ and fit in the pouch. Never looked back. Bill collaborated with LP/Surefire and the "combat ring" was born. It's still my preferred handheld light technique to this day, even with all the new whiz-bang techniques out there now. Still have the old LP light with the inner tube, although the material is worn and cracked with age and holds a position on a shelf along with all the other handhelds that have come and gone in the interim as a timeline/history lesson.

I picked up two for use in your courses coming up (primary and backup). One was quickly claimed by my wife for her EDC haha.
I find these to be a much better light than my long lost E1B they’re replacing. Better output, better clip, and better switch with the same small footprint and ability to use with a weapon. My buddies have the SF Tactician and this is a better EDC light in my opinion. Nice job.

Good to see a new video. I love my HSP products and have helped sell a few slings to those seeking something serious and versatile. That said, I would love to see an increased frequency of video output especially on the tactics, drills, etc. side over product promotion. Products are great and make our job easier, but an individual with the right tactics and mindset could use an M1 carbine with a Mag light duct taped to it to greater effect than a clueless individual with the most tricked out modern AR.

I think a 2.0 version of this product would benefit from the following changes:
    1. A light head with surfaces designed to optimize its ability to be used as a glass breaker and a striking weapon. Beefing up the bezel and lens may be rquired.
    2. Duel fuel ability with either a CR123A or an 18350, which would obviously give different light performance specs.
    3. Some sort of geometry to allow adding rubber gasket finger rings for optional martial arts retention. They're strong enough so you aren't dropping the light while grappling, still break so someone can't control you hand if they grab the light, and compress if you decide to just put your hand over it.
    4. This will be controversial, but a light head that allows switching to strobe by rotation the head 180 degrees.
These additions, with the strobe function that you switch to by turning the head instead of with the button maybe being optional, would build on its versatility as a general purpose handheld flashlight.
    Edit:
Regarding #3, I just realized I could wrap one gasket around into that space right in front of the body ring, and from there loop in another gasket or something else that breaks semi-easily.

Love the design and big fan of Roger's method, however can't justify a 500lm handheld anymore. You're giving too much up and no matter how collimated that light is, you'll lose the battle against a 2 cell. Too many other good options out there. If this was 2 cell, with good collimated hotspot... I'm in.

Why shoot with a handheld when you have a weapon mounted light. I train to find my threat with my handheld and then let go of the handheld(release my grip and it falls to the ground) and draw the gun, utilizing the weapon mounted light. I don't see any advantages to fighting with a handheld light in your hands, nor keeping it for the draw. The point of the handheld light is to search and ID threats without muzzling good guys. Once the threat is ID'd the handheld light has served it purpose. Once someone is trying to kill you, I think you're justified in continuing to use your weapon mounted light to locate and shoot.

$169 with and you can't even mount it to a pistol, and it doesn't come with a mount for a Rifle? Holy shit all because your logo is stamped on it, and you applied a Cerakote? I like your products, but this is a huge hell no! Sorry, can we get you to design a flash hider/muzzle brake? I might pay $169 for something like that, that is state of the art.

    "high output" tlr lense
    "500 lumens"
It's one of those things, for sure... 500 lumens was a lot in 2005, this is 2019. Go pick up a Pelican or Streamlight.

Forrest C. Adcock There is a lot more to a combat light than who has the most lumens.

Its a 3V light, dude. If you think you've got a light that has more than 500 lumens on 1xCR123, you're being fooled. Find the runtime graphs. 500 lumens is a stout sustained output for even a 2xCR123. I actually don't use standard CR123's in these 1-cell lights because there is barely enough voltage for 500 lumens and the output regulation is poor, but surefire does a better job than anyone.

Do more research man. Don’t always believe what it says on the package. You get what you pay for.

I understand this completely and know that a weapon mounted light isn’t always an option for some for whatever reason, but thinking about running my CCW without a WML gives me anxiety lmao
