They endured the bad luck of Covid closing the world down as they landed in California and were unable to make any impact that first year. They decided to jump start themselves on a global scale with that Oprah interview and the rest as they say is history...
The clooney's accepting the invitation didn't seem as weird because Amal is british so she probably wanted to attend. Supposedly Oprah had tried to get an interview with Diana for a long time and was in the running with Bashir for that disastrous interview. Diana's son would have to do.
It is pretty tacky! I do have all respect for Reese Witherspoon who has said in interviews that she was invited, but was totally confused as to why she was invited because she didn’t know any of them and turned it down. I have so much respect and honor for her. Very Classy!
The black choir and pastor was comical. I sincerely doubt Meghan Markle nor her family had ever darkened the door of a church especially a black church. That coupled with her dress that was two visits shy of the tailor and her hair befitting an afternoon of the beach, the whole thing was a joke. This is such an unkind podcast. I really loved the wedding. I loved the cultural diversity in it and the cellist was an incredibly talented and beautiful touch. It was a beautiful wedding and so romantic too. Meghan does have African American roots too, and she wanted to show that at her wedding. What is wrong with that. As bad as this is, she said much worse in the interview and since. I will personally never forget or forgive the sadness and stress that both Harry and his wife cause HRH Prince Philip on his death bed and the stress and betrayal of our beloved Queen Elizabeth. As for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, she was no ones fool, like many people around the world she could "see" Meghan, Her Majesty's face at one point in the wedding service, HM shrug of her shoulders at the wedding said it all.
The Queen was not fooled by Meghan one bit. As head of state she would have got a full dossier on Meghan. Charles is the one who found Meghan charming. Charles got to marry Camilla and so would be the last person to meddle and refuse to allow Harry to marry who he wanted. Prince Andrew had a reputation for doing side financial jobs, for his personal needs, not approved by the RF. There have been some questions about his past and when he first met MM. MM ran with a very influential fast crowd who is known to keep track of its members. Perhaps the reason the Royal family did not speak up, if the truth came out, it might be worse than actually having Megan in the family itself. But she seems to be along with Harry destroying any positivity she might have accomplished.

In the beginning the Royal family were loved bombed and she behaved so sweet and charming until just before the wedding her behaviour started really showing. She was caught taking freebies, sneaking around in areas she didn't have permission to venture, taking photos of the Wales's children and their bedrooms. The Royal family welcomed her and tried everything to give her anything she needed and encouraged her to take help but she threw everything back in their faces. Apparently Queen Camilla, The Princess of Wales and the Princess Royal and Zara all seen her coming, they all had doubts but gave her the benefit of the doubt. However her actions since the wedding proved every doubter right but I don't think that the Royal family have ever encountered someone like her who is a malignant narcissist with no integrity, no shame, self-awareness or sensitivity. They have never been subjected to someone so vile. The Queen's face at the wedding was the final alarming red flag that set my eyebrows north and started me on the path that she was a wrongun. hearing about the dress fitting incident was red flag, the engagement interview was red flag, Harry making statements to the press about harassing his GF red flags but it was the Queen who confirmed it for me because I had never seen the Queen so serious at a happy event before.
I went back and watched their wedding. The look on the Queen's face is priceless. I made my boyfriend watch that part and he died laughing. He's not a big royal watcher like me.

However I am 67 and when I saw the engagement interview, I saw the fakeness in Meghan and thought “oh Harry, what have you done?” I doubt very much the Queen was taken in either, a gracious, careful, shrewd and very savvy Queen. The wedding proved how fake she was, who invites strangers rather than friends and relatives to their wedding? She had already alienated her own family, this was a huge red flag 🚩. I too found Meghan to seem very fake/inauthentic/an act in the English interview, but I didn’t express that opinion at the time as I now suspect was the case for many people. Overall I was just happy that Harry was happy and had found love.

When I watched the wedding, it was like watching a fiction movie. She came through as faking her character as a bride. This has been her debut as an actress and enjoyed the world watched her performance at last!
It was so telling. From the engagement interview to the wedding guests she chose to invite, celebrities who don’t know her well, tells how desperately she wants to be in that famous crowd.
I remember my heart sinking and something saying "something very not right here" when l saw that wedding. The celebrity instead of family set my doubts off about her. But over time i learned to despise that false grinning empty face. She let commonwealth down big time. No forgiveness from me.
She didn’t like the hierarchy as that meant curtsying to the Queen, the king , Catherine, William and even the children. She would not have coped with that.
That’s fine…..no-one is forced to curtsy to the Queen….its just a protocol….like covering your heart as an American when your anthem plays. However if you are joining a working team such as the British Royal Family then protocols are something you should consider. In any other marital union the parties discuss how they will handle any differences of creed, culture, race, ethnicity etc.

I think that the palace tried to celebrate Meghan’s African-American heritage but could only go by what they had been told. This is why it felt so ridiculously false. Her pretend life was being demonstrated in the slightly bizarre ceremony. That preacher was a dreadful choice.
That preacher was chosen by Doria. He started off okay but then got caught up in the moment, realized he was being watched by millions across the globe and decided to have his 15mins in the sun. That is what happened there.
I think Charles tried to give Harry his support as a loving father (and the late Queen was the same, at first but being as astute as she was, it didn’t take long before she saw right through Meghan. She even called her “evil” and saw that relationship as a train crash in slo-mo). William was not backward in coming forward.

A friend of mine’s daughter in law’s mother passed away about a year ago. At her funeral, her only son spoke. He wanted to share the wisdom his mother shared with him. At the end of the list, he told of how she told him that Meghan Markle was evil. It got smiles and nods from the fellow mourners.

I'm dumbfounded that Charles didn't maintain a handle on the thing, especially if Harry insisted that he be given as lavish a wedding as William. So I'm dubious; either Charles knew exactly how much it was costing and never asked Harry during the reception, or he closed his eyes and just let things spiral out of control. If Harry demanded that huge wedding, Charles had to know that he was paying for it as a matter of course. If Harry was paying for it, he wouldn't have to demand it, he would just do it. Also, Charles had to know that Harry couldn't pay for it. He would know to the penny what Harry was worth at the time. Nothing about that scenario makes sense.

The reason why there was so much snickering at the wedding was because it was a freak show! Did you even watch it? It was so inappropriate and outlandish, from the Bishop's so-called sermon to that weird choir. A friend of mine’s daughter in law’s mother passed away about a year ago. At her funeral, her only son spoke. He wanted to share the wisdom his mother shared with him. At the end of the list, he told of how she told him that Meghan Markle was evil. It got smiles and nods from the fellow mourners.

I'm dumbfounded that Charles didn't maintain a handle on the thing, especially if Harry insisted that he be given as lavish a wedding as William. So I'm dubious; either Charles knew exactly how much it was costing and never asked Harry during the reception, or he closed his eyes and just let things spiral out of control. If Harry demanded that huge wedding, Charles had to know that he was paying for it as a matter of course. If Harry was paying for it, he wouldn't have to demand it, he would just do it. Also, Charles had to know that Harry couldn't pay for it. He would know to the penny what Harry was worth at the time. Nothing about that scenario makes sense.

The reason why there was so much snickering at the wedding was because it was a freak show! Did you even watch it? It was so inappropriate and outlandish, from the Bishop's so-called sermon to that weird choir. I can't believe that people were bored by it (I was horrified - my hair was standing on end), or that you or anyone else could see the remotest connection to true Christian love and fellowship. It was surreal. Twilight Zone.

Royal wedding guests fall into 2 catagories, Church only & Church + Reception. The latter, a more intimate event, was held at Windsor Castle.
The Queen paid £35 million towards the entire wedding. Sadly, Meghan never thanked the Queen and her staff, all of whom worked long hours in preparation and dismantling of the reception. I have been in the great hall where the reception was held. It is utterly stunning.
