This was a smart operator that spec'd this. If I were a hotshot driver that wanted to stay comfortable OTR and HAD to get a diesel, this is how I'd get it. Detuned diesel, and pro power for charging tools and portable compressors (although I'd rather fork over the big bucks and get a belt driven compressor with quick connects behind the cab).
They should have the Ultimate Package on the F550 Lariat. I am going from a ‘23 F350 Lariat Ultimate to a ‘24 F550 Lariat for the payload. Seems like a lot of the luxury feature will be missing. (No 360 camera, No Heads up Display) I am also hoping that the power will not feel like it is lagging going from 475Hp & 1050#Tq to 330 Hp & 950#Tq.
You better add air ride captains chairs if you plan on driving it in any sense of comfort as this truck will beat you up badly, I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone with any kind of back issues
Just out of curiosity... Is this a way to make up for all the drive trane issues these trucks have? Will this 2000 converter speed up the turnaround when taking the truck to a dealer for service... Will this 2000w converter make this truck more reliable and will it give us a pass for when the truck spends months at the dealership and the bank wants their monthly payments as the truck sits at the dealership not making money...???? I'll stick to my 07 E-450 cab and chassis dually with no fancy electronics... Just a money making older van...!!!! I would love to own one of these newer trucks but all the high tech b.s. is not worth it to me... Just my opinion
You can get any aftermarket bed you want for it either through the dealer at twice the price as what you can get it through your local truck shop for. The dealer will order the same bed for you through the same local truck shop you can use and just mark it up for their profit. I’m not sure tho if a regular truck bed will fit the frame without being stretched, someone else will have to answer that one.
I don't have any use for an F550 but it sure is cool. It's a beast of a truck.

Why are the bigger trucks de-tuned?
For better reliability since they will be towing heavier loads and more often. I believe they also have different turbos than a 250/350.
