- I replace the fuel filter on my Jaguar XK. The service history mentioned replacement 5 years ago by an independent garage (not Jaguar) but I think it might be longer than that .. who knows , it could be the original filter?
Preventative Maintenance and peace of mind.
Another excellent video demonstrating `not so difficult' DIY maintenance that all helps towards the reliability of these great cars. Really useful tip with the pliers too. Thank you.
Thank you
Looks like I have a task for my next free weekend. I've never bothered doing work on other cars but this Jag and your channel is turning me into a DIY mechanic.
Good to hear 👏
Its a pleasure to see you work with the care and attention to detail. Good video. Thanks.
I think my 2011, 5 litre XKR, has 3 fuel filters, one at tank and one for each of the two heads. They will be changed in October when the car is serviced. Great clip. You make it look so easy!
Are you sure there's 3
I was not sure if the 5 litre had fuel filters but seems l am wrong.
Just done my fuel filter on the xk and the same nut was missing must be to save on weight lol great video paul
Really? 😅
Another good one 👍 thank you. I’ve just checked online from my preferred supplier, included in the service kit for 5.0 is indeed a fuel filter, so I’ll be checking to see if mine has ever been replaced......
You might find it's been included in the kit by mistake. Let me know thanks
@@life_on_cars I’ll have a look under the car, I’m sure it will be in the same place if there is one. Checked and the lines run
the same route but no filter..... you were right why did I even look😂
Another great Jaguar video and liked the 'bonus footage', never seen inside a filter before, shows how much the car needs these parts to be right and maintained. Picking up my own 2007 XKR up this week, looking forward to following your tips etc... Thanks!
merci pour cette excellente vidéo Serge ( FRANCE Fontainebleau )
Thank you sir
That's such a neat hack with the cable ties. 👍
Great video, love all these little DIY projects.
Great vid indeed thank god there was no spark when you cut it in half I was looking away but when I thought about it don’t think alloy would spark keep them coming 👍
😄
Another top video 👍. Must have a look at mine. Seems to be an overlooked service item.
Really good video enjoyed watching ,very impressed how you really get the camera in there ! Thanks 👍
Thanks buddy
Another great video, didn't know you had been an instructor, that explains it now. How many miles should the filter be replaced, what's your opinion on fuel additives and do you use the highest octane when filling up? Cheers...
Thanks for watching. Jaguar say 60,000 miles for the fuel filter but no harm doing it earlier. I use premium fuel as often as I can as these already include cleaning additives 👍
Thanks for the reply, your videos are great. I have a 2014 xk Cabrio and really love everything about it. I wish I had more mechanical confidence to do the work you do un yours, what a beautiful auto. I am in the US and rely on an honest technician if I need work on it. Stay safe and I look forward to your next video man.
I managed to get the original mahler filter from my local motor factors. It's sat on the side waiting for a dry sunny day for me to fit it.
Good luck with the fitting 👍
Having the exact same model, yr and colour (interior & exterior) as yours. Adding to the exterior The vertical Fender vent chrome trim, chrome fog lamp surrounds, chrome door handle & door handle shell trim, has just broken up the black a bit and has really made the car pop aesthetically without over doing it. Has made a huge difference even though it’s quite subtle. Any thoughts of you doing something like that??
Sounds great buddy
No in-line fuel filter on my 2011 XKR, filter is mounted internally in the fuel tank.
Yes moved to tank and no longer a service item
Would it be beneficial to coat the fuel filter with a heavy grease to protect it from the elements ? 🤷🏼♂️
Hi , the filter is absolutely fine left open to the elements. I'd only be looking at putting a coating of wax oil or other anti corrosion protection products onto the steel components of fuel systems such as the steel fuel pipes found on older cars 👍
