Four dislikes? What the hell is wrong with people? This is wonderfully interprative, virtuoso playing of a keyboard and piano master's legacy. I wonder if Keith ever knew how much he was truly influential on so many other players the world over like Thierry here? His interpretation of Keith's beautiful piano melodies are particularly breathtaking. To have lost Greg Lake so closely after Keith's suicide was a blow upon a bruise. It is very hard to comprehend that we will never again see such a musical force as Emerson Lake & Palmer...
The ratio for brilliant performances is always about 50 likes to 1 dislike. Horowitz, Rostropovich, Keith himself, MLK Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech, doesn't matter. Sometimes it's 100-1, sometimes 40-1, but there are always dislikes. Just laugh at them for they, for their inability to appreciate greatness, are the losers.
I can't stop commenting here, but come on... this ensemble is utterly magnificent. The piano playing is particularly miraculous, full of the most wonderful 'outside' lines and beautiful structures. I like all the ELP tributes but this is exemplary. Prog masterpieces performed in the most charming way imaginable.
I'm not a big Keith Emerson fan and the ELP songs that I like are all Greg Lake compositions. This is not a critique of Mr. Emerson's music, just a comment on my musical preferences. The exception is Trilogy, which, with a few edits could challenge Close to the Edge as the greatest progressive rock piece ever. So I'm always looking for an interpretation of this piece to take it over the top. I may never find it, but the performance here is very good. The singer should take lessons from the old Motown performers. Never close your eyes when you sing.
You're totally right ! Thierry Eliez is gorgeous ! lots of new extracts with the manticore string quartet and ceilin Poggi are here czcams.com/channels/2LEvVEPzVOtFhHYdBMkS6Q.html
I don't have any relevant comment to make, but Greg Lake, like Thierry Eliez & guests and ELP's music, have only a rather distant link with the - brilliant - music & songs produced by Motown. There are so many sidetracks, and this one is one that takes us as far as any I've known and followed with passion.
Oh my God!!!!! This is beyond amazing. WTF??? The way he plays around with the compositions , seamlessly moving from improv to exact readings of the scores and then subtlety manipulating their harmonies and syncopating their rhythms while singing on top of it is stunning. I'm sorry it took 4 years for CZcams to bring this performance to my attention.
I love how Thierry fused Hoedown with Rondo....This guy deserves all the praise you can give. I've followed Thierry for many years. A Top Player.....Any one who gave a thumbs down....take off your blinkers.....it's an Homage to Keith.....You sad people.
This is absolutely fantastic! It's funny how sometimes real artists must change the original a bit in order to keep its "inner" untamed spirit! I prefer these renditions over any "dogmatic" cover of the original tracks. Bravissimo!
A huge smile as the maestro Listens to these magnificent improvised compositions of his work beautifully played. Thank-you Thierry Eliez for making my Christmas day.
Magnifique! Setlist: - Tarkus (Eruption/Stones of Years w/ scat vocals by Thierry Eliez); - The Endless Enigma I/Fugue-Improvisation-Fugue (w/ cello)/II (with quotes from The Great Gates of Kiev); - Take A Pebble-bridge-Piano Improvisations Excerpts mixed with Take A Pebble and Tank (just when you expect him to play everything Andante, he breaks out into a full-throttle ostinato at 31:00)-back to Take A Pebble (coda w/ scat vocals)-The Sheriff-Piano Improv.-Take A Pebble; - KE9 2nd Impression (excerpts, which is fantastic, sounds as though it's played at times by Patrick Moraz and Chick Corea); - KE9 3rd Impression (intro)-Hoedown; - Jeremy Bender - Trilogy (w/cello and duet with Ms. Poggi on vocals and doubled-scat vocals -- this is just stunning with a very Emersonian piano) - Encores: - Trilogy - variations w/ trio - The Five Bridges, Chorale [Emerson/Jackson] +3rd Bridge (w/ vocals), finishing with the finale of The Piano Concerto! Stunning!
WOW ! Just Wow !! Keith would be proud 🎹🎶💖 And beautiful vocals.... Greg would also be proud 🎤🎸💔😢.The music of these 2 geniuses and Carl Palmer will live on forever 🎼🎶
I Don t know if others are the same as me but when I watch a movie of any kind , I listen to the background music that really intensifies the mood or action in the movie ! Keith has been involved in so many soundtracks to bring out the best during a moment of emotion or intense action . Keith Emerson is and was forever my favorite keyboardist . God bless his soul , Greg Lake too of course ! What a trio ELP was and will never be forgotten ! 🙏🙏 What glorious music to my ears !
my jaw is below the floor. Thierry is absolutely incredible. the whistle at "Enigma" ending was fantastic. "The Endless Enigma" has always been very special to me. the chords Keith played would strike an emotion in me I can't explain. I will forever be grateful to Keith Emerson for exposing me to European classical music. and jazz.
Atmosfere fantastiche!!!
What a magnificent musician this guy is. His subtle changes to the originals are sublime and really add to the effect. I hope we see and hear a lot more of him!
Great music is meant to be interpreted How inspiring How this young phenom, who wasn't even born when Tarkus was released, can generate so much passion
What a way to recreate Keith's compositions! There's no words to describe my pleasure hearing this! Really want to see Thierry live, and of course Jean & Den !

What a wonderful Holiday Gift, discovering this gem tonight. Monsieur Eliez is a revelation. How wonderful in that, this past year, I have been returning to ELP time and time again -- especially Keith's Piano Concerto No. 1 -- and the musicianship and quality of the music has filled me with such wonder and joy. And now, this. Music: the gift that keeps on giving, for generations, for all time. Thank you for this homage. It really hits the spot.
Bravo.
Some new videos with strings are now availaible on the official page of Thierry Eliez czcams.com/channels/2LEvVEPzVOtFhHYdBMkS6Q.html - Just amazing !!!
This is amazing. For me, I must just listen only, as the audio and video are not in sync, even after hitting refresh and starting over. Merci en tous cas !
Brilliant! I think he has introduced a new flavor, even a new style to modern and progressive jazz. Certainly a new style thanks to Greg Lake and Keith Emerson.

Sublimissime ! C'est sur la page de Thierry Eliez czcams.com/channels/2LEvVEPzVOtFhHYdBMkS6Q.html
Indeed. It seems to me, in addition, that the renditions here of Trilogy and Jeremy Bender capture the expressive potential of the compositions in ways the original renditions never matched. In the latter case, it strikes me as a considerable improvement, perhaps not quite to the degree of the "Joe Cocker : With a little Help from my Friends" cover, but I always felt the original KE JB was only partially successful - as with the rest of side 2, it was hard to escape the feeling that creative energies had been drawn down so much by the titanic Tarkus side 1, that they were, I dunno, squeezing them out when these tracks were recorded?
Bravo..Magnificent..a tour de force.Take it on the road I'll be there in a heartbeat. Kieth Emerson, Greg Lake and Carl Palmer live on in your performance.
Merci beaucoup!
a Documentary about Jaco Pastorius brought me here! Fantastic Interpretations of Emerson's work - which always had a Latin American tinge to it...after all - Keith covered Alberto Ginastera's "Toccata" !
Grande Thierry!
What a brilliant composer and musician Keith was ... and so truly and authentic performed by Mr Thierry Eliez...superb..
this is how Keith would of wanted his compositions improvised brings them straight into the 21 century
I can't believe what I am hearing. This man's musicianship is outstanding. I would like to see this concert live...
If a great number of people wish that and make it public,he will continue this project !!!
Absolutely!!!

WHY CONCENTRATE ON THE NEGATIVE.
Well said.
you better focus yourself on the positive reactions...
just poor people; DANTE said: Non ragioniam di lor, ma guarda e passa (Let's not talk about them, but look and pass over)

Great!!! that rendition of hoedown is full of swing. This is the best possible hommage to Emerson, and a further step on his work.
Thierry is an absolute wonder. Fantastic interpretations of Keith's incredible music.
Outstanding!!! Thank you!
Saved the link to listen at a later time but got sucked into the whole concert...absolutely amazing.
Stunning interpretations and performance, thanks Thierry 🎹👍🏻
Bravo..Magnificent..a tour de force.Take it on the road I'll be there in a heartbeat. Kieth Emerson, Greg Lake and Carl Palmer live on in your performance.
It's great! Thanks a Lot!! From BRAZIL!!!
Beautiful piece, Keith would like for sure
Merci beaucoup!
Omg … incredible!
a Documentary about Jaco Pastorius brought me here! Fantastic Interpretations of Emerson's work - which always had a Latin American tinge to it...after all - Keith covered Alberto Ginastera's "Toccata" !
I only listened to the first ten minutes... - GREAT!!!
Grande Thierry!
