  • Never would have thought after all we did to get to the motherland, we would be treated like an unlimited atm machine. And be held against our will. So many things happened that day. We should have turned around and went home. And cut our losses.

Sam Brown...Africa has always sold goods without a price tag or fixed price. Bargaining and haggling is part of the culture. If you want to live in Ghana or Africa you will be better served learning how to bargain...whether you’re African returning or new AA coming back to the continent. You could avoid all these by simply going to lots of places with fixed or price tags in Ghana where there’s no haggling or bargaining just like the US or UK. People like you don’t learn and copy or listen without researching the culture and wrongly see it as “scamming” instead of showing respect to the natives.

Get your own experience. It's just like living in America, what you pay is what you get sometimes. And their inability to investigate before LIVING, has THEM getting it all wrong. Ghana is one of the Best Countries in West Africa that many admires. It's not America, which is 400+ YEARS. Africa as a whole is less than 80 years old. And still developing. When slavery was going on, and abolished. Africa was colonized till the 1960's. Think about it. That's when they got their Freedom. Even with freedom, their raw materials still developing the developed World, and paying them a fraction of what's Worth. So TRY having your own experience. I don't understand what these people are complaining about. As a South African when traveling to other African countries I need a yellow fever vaccine which I need to take in my country 10 days prior to arrival. If I don't have a yellow fever card, that country does not have to let me in. If I arrive 8 days after I've taken my yellow fever vaccine the country still can't let me in. I either have to return home or spend 2 days in confinement. Ghana, you guys actually allow people to take the Yellow Fever vaccine on arrival. This is not safe. These people should not have been allowed into the country at all, well unless if you have a different vaccine to South Africa. The reason these people were being extorted is because they were braking the law in the first place. AMERICANS, please note that Africa is not playing games with Covid. It is possible that this guy has Covid even if he's family is negative and covid has 2 weeks incubation period. This also means that the family has been exposed and all of them need to be in quarenteen for 2 weeks, no exceptions. You're getting extorted because, yet again, you're trying to break the law. Also, you're not a citizens, you have to pay for your tests. Can I as a foreigner get free medical care in America? All this drama was unnecessary. If you didn't try to break the law, there would have been less drama. Also, why travel during a global pandemic? What did you think was going to happen? African countries have every right to protect their citizens from Covid and avoid a widespread and high death tolls like the USA. What's heartful is also this ladies language, dress code and general demeanor. Why can't you respect the people of the country? Ghanaians in general are conservative, why be so disrespectful? You're going on about white people receiving better attention than AA, maybe it's because they arrive knowing that it's not their country and they respect the laws and adapt to the country. Honestly did you really think that you're going to bring improvement in Africa? If 'white saviour' mentality is wrong when it's white people, surely its equally wrong when it's AA doing it too.

I respectfully don't find this shocking at all. I, for whatever reason always try to look at the big picture, as much as I can. If you care to find answers as to why certain things happen.
These are the descendants of African people that were shipped away like cattle to be worked to death in a foreign land (it wasn't even a country yet) to build a glorious European world for white people. When that didn't happen (working us to death that is), they forced us off the land into ghettos in cities all over America, discriminated against us in every way possible. What they were successful in achieving was that glorious European existence and wealth. So much so that it raised the standard of living for everyone even the black, poor and uneducated. But we all suffer a degree of mental damage, no matter how much money we have in our pockets.
Do not expect us all to return behaving like well adjusted Harvard graduates. This incident was very very sad. They are wise enough to know that it is time to leave but didn't know how.

Some of their feelings are valid--regardless of the poor way in which some of you feel they express them. I am married to an African. When he went home to Coite D'Ivoire after about 13 years, he was surprised to see the contrast between Ivorian's and Americans. He hadn't noticed before that Ivorians were so dishonest and misleading because he never had a comparison to his people. When he came back home to America, he was so disappointed. He said African's are not as humble as American's, nor honest. That they will often never admit a fault or that they can't do this or that. They would rather always say and do what benefits them at the moment. If you watch other youtube vids of people around the world visiting Ghana or Africa in general, you will see that they say the exact same things. One lady from the Netherlands said she asked a Ghanian beautician to do a certain style and color for her. She asked the lady if she was familiar with doing that particular cut. The lady more than assured her. When she was done, it was a hairstyle completely different. The beautician tried to say that anyway t still came out nice. But everyone should know you don't make light when it comes to hair! Although my husband is Ivorian, he also lived in Ghana at times and Ghanaian's definitely in general are untrustworthy. In general, I find that African's take advantage of foreigners for their money and think that we are dumb just because we are nice. My husband confirms this.

The testing is appropriate and necessary but 1800 dollars? That’s a lot. Are people made aware of this high price before travel? If you have this info available before you go, then I understand. If this price is being sprung on people upon arrival, it’s too much. In many places COVID tests and even vaccines are free so I could see the sticker shock. Edit: I see later that they were possibly going to also be charged for a re-test and another hotel that the government contracts with. So double hotel fees, fees for meds, plus all of these costs could be a nightmare. Best to stay home until this is all over to avoid being caught in a situation like this!

Truth be told Africa is NOT even for the Africans!!! They may live in their native land but it's owned by America, China, UK, France, etc. Guess that's why Africans are leaving Africa to live in the land of their oppressors who they treat better than own people.

I’m noticing a theme in your videos, you travel to foreign countries and you accuse the people of trying to steal your money. In the Dominican Republic you did the same while chasing down a cheap BBL. If you have the kind of money you are claiming that you do, I don’t understand why you wouldn’t pay to have services delivered that were safe. In your BBL video you mentioned that you know the doctors didn’t have license to perform what they were doing. you stated that they broke into your room and stole your shoes and attempted to steal your money from your safe. Now in this video you accuse the Ghanaian’s of stealing from you. I was able to very quickly look up the rules regarding Covid testing and find an article that’s almost 6 months old that says Ghana requires a test and it was $150 per person. You have six people in your family. You have no proof that your husband did not contract Covid between the previous destination and the Ghanaian port. if she was in fact trying to extort you, If you had done your due diligence you would know that that is customary in the country and prepared financially. We cannot go to foreign countries and ask them to change overnight for us. You use the word very loosely colonizer, but in fact your behavior was very much colonizer behavior. You view your arrival in Ghana as you being there to save Ghanaians, the truth is your family was better off in America where you know better than to act like that. Not a single cop in Atlanta Georgia would have tolerated you for more than five seconds. The fact that you guys were that disrespectful to the military of that country is shameful.

I would love to see y'all stay in Ghana for a little while. In order to stay I think being in contact with a local is a must. It is not something that most can do on their own, although some do. First it is another country and continent, second things like bartering are complex and people will get you for your money if you don't know how to do it. Third, there are some established African American communities out there, reach out to them and they can assist you - but it is definitely not a country to move to and do it all yourself. Reach out to some African Americans who can confirm that this local or that local is dependable and then check them out yourself. To say we don't need help, we can do it all on our own - not in Ghana, you will be paying a lot more money, you are more likely to be scammed, and things will generally just be harder. I think it is doable, but you have to have connections with the right people and be willing to get some assistance. I would like to see y'all stay for a little while longer because I believe you can make a positive difference in the country, aside from all of the curse words and the N word, you said you were bringing stuff for the children. It is an opportunity for you to do some good there, you've already paid to get there and maybe this delay is for you to reconsider. You can order your snacks from Amazon or another service. I would stop wasting all of that money for expensive airbnbs and rent a place until you find a good place to buy. You left the US for a reason, and if you stick it out there a little longer, maybe things will change for the better. If not, you can always come back to the US.

Just pick what you are able to deal with and to what extent and stop expecting that anything will be easy if you don't make it so.
It's unfortunate you are both going through all that, but hopefully you'll learn to deal with it all without adding more stress or animosity to your lives as you currently sound.
And stop expecting that your own race will do better than these human issues. They are humans too and your devastation comes from your own overrated expectations.
