I heard his VA was a pain in the ass, so they got rid of him by killing off Breakdown Also, the episode Silas returns in his body, I think there's a handful of lines and comments by Knockout concerning Breakdown

He probably had to hide how he really felt; Megatron isn't exactly the sympathetic type and Starscream would probably try to take advantage of the situation I'd he knew Knockout was upset. I'm also convinced he worked out a lot of his grief and rage via experimenting on Silas.
This really must've got to Knockout cause even though he acted like he didn't care after the fact, it makes sense him hiding what he felt since Megatron would no doubt view that as a weakness he'd have to remove. The only time we really REALLY got to see what he was feeling was when Silas showed up in Breakdown's body and Knockout was ready to tear him out, and later puts his frustrations on him using him as a lab rat
Yeah before Silas told KO to take him to Megatron, KO seemed genuinely happy and excited to see him still alive, and in the episode where KO is retrieving the relic, he says that he and BD enjoyed retrieving the 1st relic and he intends to do it again IN HIS MEMORY!! my boy KO misses his partner 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
The reason why Breakdown was killed off is due to budget increases, the reason for the show, and Him and Bulkhead never getting a final match of them pair facing. Thus is why they never got another match after last one.
