Motion Array is a staple of my monthly income, and I'm so happy that the production community is becoming more aware of the potential to earn income there!
Yeah man!! We all wanna be Stevie B!!
Excellent information, Eric, and very relevant for those wanting success in stock music licensing. I've been nothing but impressed with MA from the start even though, as you stated, they have very high standards and are quite particular on how you submit to them. I absolutely love the high level of communication that the curators give in answering questions and their patience in walking you through the submission process if you happen to not get it right the first time. Let me second the statement that it is WORTH IT to take the time to make the corrections they ask of you. I submitted a track that had a fading ending and my curator asked me to changed it to more of a sting ending with an ending chord . . . well, I considered not doing it thinking of the time it would take to change it, but in the end did what I was asked to do. I resubmitted the track, it was accepted, and I started making money on it that very day - incredible!! Two thumbs for Motion Array - well worth the time it takes to get accepted into this exceptional library!! - Ross
Right on Ross! I have a similar story where they asked me to do a vocal to an instrumental I submitted. I had to write lyrics for it, but did it that morning and it was up later that day!
Great video!!
Really appreciate you taking the time to do this video!
we are looking to join but needed to know some details before submitting!
Thanks again for this amazing video!
Glad it helped!
Thank you very much for all the knowledge and information you put into these videos and all the experience you share! One of my favorite channels now.
Thank you so much for watching. More cool stuff coming!
Great value information in this video! I'm making sure I have great quality track before applying for MA! Thank you!
And as I mentioned below make sure you upload all five songs that you are able to upload. And yes make them quality produced songs. You only get one chance to make a first impression.
Great video, Eric, as always! You know how much I want to get into MA LOL. That information will certainly help me. Thanks for sharing.
Glad it helped! Good luck getting in!!
Got approved right away and already have three active compositions of mine in the styles of urban & dance music online. Great library and lovely support! Oh and I already scored a download within just 3 hours of being an active composer there. 🎉
Nice! Way to go!
That’s amazing to hear! Wow I’m going to look into that!
@@MakeMusicIncome thx for this video - has opened my eyes!
@@MakeMusicIncome I got turned down after waiting 7 months. 21 years experience writing for some of the top libraries, making sfx and photos doesn't seem to count.
Great video Eric, learned a lot about MA and feel I can build up a good set of tracks to apply now. Like how you asked them questions at the end
Thanks Allen! Got even more responses from them and will be posting soon on a new blog post.
Thanks! Very useful info!
Excellent! Glad it helped!
A great video!
Thanks for all the information!
I wonder, like Mansji, if I can apply to them again, a year ago I was rejected, do you have knowledge about that?
I LOVE YOUR LOGO !!
Thank you I’m glad you love the logo!! And thank you for watching.
Excellent advice. Just joined Motion Array. Thanks 👍 👍
Good
Luck!
Thank you for this video, Eric. I am new to delivering stock music, so your help hits the right spot.
Excellent! Good luck to you my friend! If you have any questions, join us at MusicIncomeStreams.com for a new teaching community!
Really informative video Eric! In my opinion I find Artlist much better than MA as an artist mainly because they allow you to apply multiple times and sometimes it takes 2-3 submissions to get accepted and figure out what a library is looking for. As MA doesn't give artists an option to send multiple submissions, I would really appreciate if you can let me know a way in which I can apply to MA again, as I got rejected the first time and couldn't try again. Anyway, you have a great channel here and it has been really helpful for me. :)
I will ask my contact about that. That is a good question. Thanks for watching.
Great Info!
Thank you!
I just joined them. And I got 30 downloads literally in 2-3 days. Thats amazing. Because I tried songtrd and pond5 as well. There probably for like 1 month with 50 songs (only 5 now on Motionarray) and no views no downloads. Anyway this is an experiment for me as I never done stock music or sync licencing before. Thanks for your videos very useful
Congrats and good luck!
Do we need our own website to get approved on motion array?
@@nishuboi2009 Not necessarily but I think it helps!
Eric, thanks again for your amazing content! I'm wondering for the preview if we have to share the same 15 to 30sec part of the song or if we can share different key moment. I'm thinking for example for a vocal and instrumental version. Would it be relevant to change the part of the song for the 2 previews or it is better to keep the same extract with and without vocals. Thanks for your advice! Cheers, Al.
You have to share the entire file for the preview. If you have different versions, you need to include them as well in the preview file.
@@MakeMusicIncome Thank you Eric, that's perfect timing.
Thanks Eric for clearing up some similar questions I had about MA. I uploaded a few songs on December 8th and I just checked again this morning to see they're still "pending review". I'm assuming they're getting bombarded with holiday music, therefore being a bit behind on everything else. At least I'm hoping that's why. Thanks again Eric for the video.
I think he will have better luck if you upload five songs for them. Although they are running about seven days out right now for regular submissions. I would still go ahead and make sure you have five good quality produced songs uploaded for your first review.
@@MakeMusicIncome Will do. Thanks again Eric. Happy holidays.!
Same to you!!
Very interesting and helpful video! One question I would have:
For libraries like Pond5, Motion Array, etc., how long are the tracks usually? Are they typical 3-5 min tracks or is the length rather much shorter?
No usually int eh 2-3 minute range. I would suggest listening to the songs on there (top songs)
Brilliantly informative video Eric. !!! Ive been a songwriter and worship leader for years, and didnt know the first thing about licensing until subscribing to your channel. I'm beginning to learn fast however thanks to your highly informative videos, so thank you for that. One thing I did want to ask however is on one of your other videos you explain about Content ID and how you've decided not to use it for various reasons. On this video however you mention how MotionArray highly recommend that you use it. I take it that the tracks you have submitted to MA dont have contact ID then just in case you decided to pull them, and sign them over to an exclusive Synch library or perhaps some other opening that were to present itself. Just wondering ??
That is exactly right. Since my focus is (and everyone’s focus should be) in higher paying sync licenses, if I see an opportunity to use a song I create and put in a RF library I need to be able to get it out and get it pitched. But sync does not want CID stuff. All the exclusive libraries I have pitched to want control of CID themselves. Personally also, I think worrying about CID is small potatoes. Such tiny pay you’d have to get millions of streams on a video, and likely a client like that is whitelisting it anyway so they can monetize.
I am new to your channel and the music libraries you speak of, apart from songtradr.
I had some of my better music mastered for cd quality, will they accept that or does it all have to be 24 bit/48khz?
Good question! Most of them prefer 24/48 WAV but will take 16/44 WAV as well. Some, like AudioJungle, will only accept 16/44, so you should be fine.
Hey I’m new to this can you please do a video on how to upload your music. I have songs and they’re saying to upload with a preview I’m confused 😩… I’m trying to be team motionarray but stuck on submit ?!
Thanks 🌟😆🙌
Thank you for watching!
great vid
Thank you!
how do we upload stems to motion array, i didnt see that option when uploading a product.
They don‘t require stems, but you can package alternate versions in a ZIP.
Is it possible to submit a music on audio J, motion Array etc. if it's also published on spotify via Distrokid ? I would like to do both
Of course. The two generally have nothing to do with the other. AJ and MA are non-exclusive but don’t have anything to do with Spotify, etc., anyway.
@@MakeMusicIncome thanks dude !
Do you recommend going non exclusive with AJ, motion array etc. Or going exclusive with one ? I mostly do Lofi beat +++
Most definitely NON exclusive. Spread those tracks around!! Now, if MA had an exclusive deal…I might re-think that position. ;)
Perhaps the greatest service you can render, even greater than letting people know about various venues is to midwife them into the process step by step, as coming you will note, motion array, for example, does not make it at all easy. Even to know that there is a contributor section to their site, being geared as it is to consumers. Please do take mercy on ordinary mortals and let them know how to go through the entry phase effectively and with as little problem as possible. Thanks much
I have a whole eBook devoted to the process of getting into each of these stock music libraries. You can find it at makemusicincome.com/stockmarket/
Hey sir... thanks but I read : "Royalty Free Music" at the top of Motion Array. According Steve, all songs and musics must be registerd with a PRO. So how understand all that ?
No, they don’t have to be. But they do allow PRO songs as well a s Content ID. But you don’t have to be registered with either to get on any of these libraries.
Question, how long does it take to review a submission? I uploaded five songs to test and it takes 16 days with no news.
They recently sent me this info: “It usually takes about 2 weeks for us to give our first review to new artists, as long as they submitted 5 tracks to Motion Array per the instructions.” I’d give it another week and then maybe email them at content@motionarray.com about this.
Do they also buy photos and video clips?
Are we only able to submit 5 products at a time and then wait for them to be reviewed before uploading more. I have Audio and Stock video, I want to upload a bunch
For MA only 5 at first, then up to 20 products at a time can be submitted.
Thank you...@@MakeMusicIncome
Hey there, Thanks for the video! I have tons of assets to upload...After you run out of submission slots, do they give you a bunch more automatically? They gave me 100 slots...I fulfilled them, but would like to upload another couple hundred assets....What is your process when you run out of slots?
Thanks!
Dave
MA gave you 100 slots? Usually they only accept 20 at a time.
@@MakeMusicIncome yea, when I first started, they just gave me 100....now they are just drip feeding me LOL
@@MakeMusicIncome Also...do you know if there is a limit to how many assets you can upload? Can't find any info on that. Thanks man!
Again we are talking about Motion Array right?
Hey all. I've gone ahead joined MA and for the life of me, I can not find any way to put my music forward for review, no email address no nothing. All I can find is the music upload rules.
Is there a magic button I have to push? I have set up my website and I'm ready to go. The only place I can find for Review only excepts Mp4 and Mov files.
Did I do something wrong when I signed up? Any help is much appreciated. Rob
Just joining Motion Array is not what you need. Have you gone to this page: motionarray.com/become-a-producer/ If not, then you are not on the way to being a contributor there. Once you are a contributor, you should log in and see a page where you can choose “Submissions” on the left side. Then you can choose what item you want to submit and go through the process.
Thank you so much for your speedy reply. Thanks for helping me out 👍
Hi Eric! I just got an email from MA saying they like my stuff and want to onboard me (Yay!!) but i'm confused as the email then says please complete tax form etc and once done we will review your assets which may take 7-10 days. If they haven't reviewed them yet how did I get accepted?
What I’m guessing Is they approved you but now the songs have to go through the queue to be approved individually. This is normal. And yes you will need to complete the forms and ID check just like many of the libraries ask for now.
@@MakeMusicIncome ahh ok so maybe they checked my profile on Pond 5 or whatever as they ask for links and decided it was ok but now the songs need to pass... I won't get too excited yet then 😂 Thanks for the reply and for the great content👍
Hello , thaks for this video , I have a doubt : when you apply must yout send the music you are licensing with them ? or could i send something showing my skills but that i am not planning to put in the library? My best work as a producer and engineer could be something i wanna show to apply but not to sell this way. thanks in advance
Good question! Yes I believe you can send songs you don’t plan to license with them as your audition songs. Then send different ones to actual license with them, but I would make sure to ask them via email.
@@MakeMusicIncome thanks a lot!
just in case anyone is interested in this topic , i send them a mail and they answered imediately "Yes you can send us a portfolio of your work, this does not have to be what you choose to upload to Motion Array."
Yes sir. This is correct!
@@MakeMusicIncome well in the end it wasn't 100% true. In order to trigger the system applying process I had to upload an asset to actually selling . AFTER THAT I can upload my portfolio I think 🙄
I uploaded my first lot of tracks to motion array 6 weeks ago and still waiting, they keep getting push back in the queue
It’s pretty normal for the first audition submission to take a while. It took 3 months for me to get in. I stayed in the 100s for a month or so. Might be another good question for them.
3:26 You say to showcase different genres when applying, but later on 10:33, Motion Array says don't submit a bunch of different genres/styles?
Yeah it is kind of a careful dance. I don’t just think you can put up five of the same song. I think you have to show them the breadth of what you can do, without seeming too eclectic. Although if all five songs you put up our a different styles and they are all amazing, then you may be fine.
@@MakeMusicIncome Thanks for responding. I'm really enjoying your content sir.
Hi there! Where can I find the Watermark file on the Motion Array website?
Go here: motionarray.com/upload-rules/
Then go down to the RF Music and then find the underlined Audio Watermark. It’s a Dropbox download.
@@MakeMusicIncome Ooo I am very grateful to you! I couldn't figure out where to find it, thank you! I want to submit my music but review as an author, and is it necessary to submit 5 works at once? Is it possible to submit one, later the second and then three more?
My advice with MotionArray is always to do five of your top produced songs. They like to see a cross-section of work not just one song. But again make sure it is highly produced and your best material.
@@MakeMusicIncome Thank you for help! Good sales to you, and great mixes!
Good afternoon!
I would like to be a contributor to Motion Array. I need a good mix and mastering engineer. Would you recommend a good mix and mastering engineer that would understand what’s needed for this provider?
Email makemusicincome@gmail.com as we are now offering this service.
I can’t even figure out how to upload a track for my audition review! Every time I try to upload I only get the option to use video. I just cannot find an option to upload a zipped audio file
There are videos coming specifically about this I hear…
@@MakeMusicIncome that’s fantastic news!
Who’s the artist you mentioned that’s making $25 daily from her own music? I would love to hear her music on Spotify
That was a year or two ago, and was the old days of Motion Array. It doesn’t work the same anymore. More based on daily downloads, and levels.
oh no! So the money is not good anymore on MA? and what exactly do you mean regarding levels?@@MakeMusicIncome
The staff picks will be buyouts so they don't pay out later.
Buy outs?
Also, do try to choose background music or at least sounds, which do not confuse or make chaotic. The material you are trying to convey. The chosen tracks for the end of the video above are certainly not conducive to clear perception!
Agreed. I stopped using music in my videos last year for that very reason.
A library that makes its own music - they can then own it, and not have to share any future income. Its basically the 'premium beat' model. Hmmm.
Well, when you can you can. In their defense, they are hiring composers and producers to make this music. So they are supporting the composer community that way as well!
I’m sure it’s buyout though.
Ooow that is a big negative with there own music original prioritises its self. That's going to be a bigger and bigger issue as time goes on.
Yeah on one hand I feel the same way, but I understand their desire to have quality that they can manage.
I got rejected by them so badly that I can't even submit more songs to them. Luckily I got success elsewhere
Sorry to hear you got rejected, but super happy to hear of your other success! It’s good to remember this isn’t the only music library or place that you can have success with your music!
@@MakeMusicIncomeThank you my friend! Yeah I can understand that my orchestral trailer music wasn't for them, but to close for future submissions?! They don't believe people can improve or have other songs. It's not a company I want to work with. I hope others have better luck though
@Maya Olssen that sucks that the door is permanently closed. I hope that doesn't happen when I eventually submit to them.
