    I had an emergency C section and I found that afterwards wearing a waist trainer helped me. After being cut on and then having to walk around with a post baby bump my waist trainer helped me a lot especially with getting out of bed. Just make sure to go a size up so it isn’t completely snug. You can thank me later. 🥰

    Tip: Opting to get a preemie baby outfit to take baby home works great. Babies are that small after birth, it fits perfectly for a week or two. Newborn clothes don't fit right just yet. #motherof5boys

    I asked my nurse for a mirror when I was having my son, because I wanted to see him be born. The nurse gave me a weird look, but rolled on in anyway. I have no regrets, I’m blessed that I got to see him be born. Not many women can say that. I 100% recommended asking for a mirror, who cares what others think.

  • @BlancaPerdomo
    @BlancaPerdomo Před 4 lety +153

    I had an unplanned c section and everything I brought was for a vaginal birth so joke was one me 😂. Looking back, I did wish I had brought my own pillow, some makeup, boppy pillow and an abdominal binder. I didn’t have one but once I used a faja (kind of like spanx) it helped a lot with the incision. What did help with my incision as a part of it was getting infected was dermaplast. I had bought that for the expected vaginal tearing.
    I do want to say that recovery is hell. You’re going to feel like you’re split in two. I could barely get out of bed but I figured it out while in the hospital. You are going to retain a lot of water. It’s going to hurt like hell to cough, laugh and sneeze but you can use a pillow to minimize the pain. Lastly, it’s ok to feel upset and sad that you didn’t have a vaginal birth. Those feelings are normal. I sure went through and it’s ok. I hope this is helpful to anyone out there ❤️

    Granny panties were definitely a must for c-section so I wouldn’t toss those out just in case. You’ll need them for recovery as well. I wore regular panties and didn’t know better the first 2 days. It was rubbing against my incision and irritated it. My mom, a nurse, came to the rescue and bought me some granny panties. Bring those just in case you have an emergency c section.

    • @kim.brooks58
      @kim.brooks58 Před 3 lety +3

      Jennifer Clark girl pack for a few days if you’re being induced and it’s your first time! I was in labor for 36 hours and it was ROUGH. Make sure you also pack enough clothes for your SO and have cash on hand (in case your hospital only takes cash for the cafeteria). My husband would have to go to the closest restaurant to get food since we didn’t have any cash and I had to start pushing while he was on his way back. I know it sounds cruel, but if you’re in labor for a long time don’t give him a hard time when he eats and you can’t, it’ll be hard since the food will make you even more hungry, but remember that you can’t eat just in case you need a c-section. Get as much rest the first night after delivery. It’ll be hard because you’ll just want to stare at your little one, but you have nurses there that will help you, just rest as much as you can while you have help. Congrats and I hope you have a fast delivery ❤️

    I went into preterm labor unexpectedly at 33 weeks. We didn’t have a bag packed. We did have phones, but my husband had to stop at our place to pick up some things (I was airlifted to the hospital, so he had to drive). My mom wound up buying the clothes for us to change into, and brought me some chapstick. My lips were so chapped, it was so painful. I had to use some Vaseline at first because it was all the hospital had. I was so thankful when my mom arrived with the chapstick.
    Side note: I was in labor for five days before my son was born, so we were there for a week. Looking back, I definitely would be more prepared (though to be fair, we had no idea I was in labor when we went to the hospital. I thought it was just hip pain, which had been completely normal for me at that point. But, lo and behold, I was already 4 cm dilated when we arrived!)

Mom's who know that they're having a C-section, you'll want to wear that Maxi dress instead of pants. Your incision is wrapped up and covered but during the ride home , waist bands against your incision won't feel nice AT ALL. I'd say bring one Maxi dress even if you are planning to deliver naturally. You just never know what's going to happen . I couldn't stand anything near my incision for a very long time while it was healing.

I also brought my own towel and wash cloth, a sweat pants outfit to go home in, a throw blanket, charging cords, spare cash, head phones and tablet and of course a outfit for the baby to go home with. I used a adidas duffel bag so I had enough space to take any extra goodies the hospital gives to you like pampers, wipes, formula etc. my husband had his own bag. I'm 36 weeks pregnant on Monday with my third and my first two babies were both born exactly on their due dates but preemie clothes were all they could wear for weeks. They were both quite small---son was 6lbs 9ozs but dropped down to 5lbs 8ozs by the time we left the hospital, and my daughter was born at 5lbs 6oz and never lost weight. Tip for this is be careful buying preemie clothes because sometimes they are labeled as preemie (4-6lbs) and they are definitely too large for that sized baby. I just ordered over a dozen "preemie" onesies in preparation for a tiny baby again and they are the same size as the newborn ones I already have (possibly even 0-3month sized) so that is super frustrating. I even washed them in hot water and dried them in an attempt to shrink them...to no avail. 😩. So, shop around. And have a variety of sizes, like BR said.
