  • Church of Immaculate Conception as famously known as Baclayon Church in Bohol, Philippines is a declared National Cultural Treasure and National Historic Landmark. It is one of the Philippines' oldest Catholic churches and structurally original and still with authentic materials dating back to 1727. Baclayon church is best preserved cultural heritage in the country, with its origins tracing back to the 15th to 16th century when it was started by Spanish missionaries. It is also well known as a Tourist attraction.
    Constructed with coral stone, the Baclayon Church exhibits a simple yet elegant architectural design. Structural materials consist of coral stone, bricks, limestone, oil and plant extracts.
    In 2013, a 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck Bohol. The church portico collapsed and a bell tower was ruined. It took more than 4 years until the church was fully restored.
