  • Further down the STAX rabbit hole we go. In my previous STAX 101 video I looked at the L300 LTD from the Lamda series. Now it's on to the big boy STAX.

    These are sooo head nodding eyebrow raising good. I use it through a KGSSHV-Carbon and it is magic. I love my Anandas and the Cayin iha6 but wow…after an hour on my testing playlist with the Stax then going back to the last track played on the Ananda set up, it is an ‘oh you poor thing’ moment. It might be my brain making it sound limited but works towards my stax bias 😆

    For anyone who is curious about stax bass like mentioned in this video stax does not!! lack bass at all ìt just sounds more natural and not muddy at all. Even my 36-46 years old stax plays better than most new dynamics and has ( i think) better bass but they do have less sub bass.

    • @wafercrackerjack880
      @wafercrackerjack880 Před rokem

      Yep, people are so used to low quality bass that they mistake muddy bass as good bass. Electrostat bass is the best in quality.

    I have just got a Mjolner audio Kgsshv carbon which i use with my 007mk2 , 009 , L700 i very nearly sold the 007 mk2 untill i bought the Kgsshv carbon i`m so glad i didn`t sell them . They need more power than my old Stax srm 007 could provide .

    I have small Stax SRM-002 and big L300 limited - I am in love with both. The small ones I use at work, they do not bother co-workers with sound bleed and i can hear what is going on in the ofice. For comparison: I got myself Unique Melody Mest - and for my taste SRM-002 is sooo much better. I mean... Sure sound is stronger with mest, and all... but the accuracy Stax is in different league. - L300 limited: I had Audeze lcd-x, sold it and got those: I am very glad I did. I can hear everything with L300... All the layer of music, all the detail... so much, that it can get distracting. But: I do enjoy my OCD experience of hearing everything, so I am ok.

    Good job on the mess up on talking 🐱😂 I got a great laughing out of that

    Thanks for the review. I've been using Mjölnir KGSSHV with my SR007mk2 for two years or so and I've also tried out Carbon version. No such a difference between two amps regarding covering the extra expense on Carbon to be honest. At least I've never thought that I need more power since KGSSHV (by Mjölnir ofc) is already a power beast imo.

  • @IamPinhead
    @IamPinhead Před rokem +2

    Haven't had much time with them, but through a Mjolnir Audio SRM-006t they're fantastic. Very much unlike the typical electrostatic character and much bass heavier than expected.

    • @SineCraftAudio
      @SineCraftAudio  Před rokem

      Nice! Glad you're enjoying them. They're kinda power hungry so a more powerful amp will open them up a bit.

      @@SineCraftAudio Some day I'll get a KGSSHV, but according to Birgir the amp I have now was designed to pair well with the SR-007. The balanced out on my Audio GD D27 makes a noticeable difference.

    What energizer(s) did you listen to them on? Very curious to hear your review of the ES1a, too.

    • @SineCraftAudio
      @SineCraftAudio  Před 3 lety +2

      I tried them with a SRM-T1 with recently upgraded tubes, a SRM-007tA that has been totally overhauled by Mjölnir-Audio, and a transformer box being pushed by a Schiit Aegir. DCA Voce is probably next and then the ES-1a.

      I don't but here's a playlist of the estats I've reviewed. czcams.com/video/nJzOQ44jTFg/video.html
      I will also be reviewing the CRBN and ES-1a in the coming weeks.

    Any possibility to review goldplanar GL1200 with ribbon drivers ? I am intrigued how is the sound presentation compared to stax.

      I hadn't even head of the Gold Planar GL1200, looks super interesting. I've been curious about ribbon drivers since the RAAL SR1a came out.

    It has more bass and sub-bass than the Lambdas! Which Lambda - dose it has more than the Lambda Nova Signature?

    • @SineCraftAudio
      @SineCraftAudio  Před 2 lety

      In fairness I've only head more recent production units like the L500 and L300 LTD.

    • @nikolaygramchev
      @nikolaygramchev Před 2 lety +2

      @@SineCraftAudio the Lambda Nova Signature is the most bassy Stax - it has more even than 007 mk1. LNS has more bass and sub- bass than the DT880 pro, for example. After LNS Stax started focusing on the current FR that they have in L300/500/700 and the 007 mk1 or 007a remained the 'bass' ones.

      @@SineCraftAudio Got a good deal deal on these, second hand but in mint condition. Yes, these are marvelous - the presentation similar to Arya but more smooth, not that 'agressive' but detailed and balanced. Lovely!

    All of this talk about MK1 is so infuriating... Old shit you can't even BUY anymore if you wanted to. Everyone who reviews an MK1 or MK2 says one is better, but never says what the differences are. MK1 talk = pointless
