Put a GPS tracker in your car. Install a engine cutoff in your vehicle so it doesn't get stolen.

We lived in ABQ for three years (and now live in Santa Fe). There definitely is more property crime than I grew up around. You don’t want to leave anything in your vehicles that cause people to want to break in. And we like staying at RV campgrounds with gates and security.
