Finding the Dodge Journey engine codes trick!

- I haven't seen a video about this so I thought this may help some of you. There's a way to find some engine codes without a OBD11 code reader on dodge vehicles with a key fob, this shows you how to do it on a dodge vehicle with a push start button. This trick works on most dodge vehicles be it with a key or keyfob or push button start, just remember you just want the vehicle in the run position on the third turn but with the engine turned off. No problem in fact I've seen this trick done on most dodge vehicles out there.
I have it on my caravan keyfob style but tried it on the push start cycling 3 times quickly and seen that it work for it aswell.
A little confusing but I got it thank you so much great video I have no idea that that was even possible because I have it on my Dodge truck and this was for my journey. Thank you so much well done I subscribed.

I got an error code when I got my oil changed and the engine light came on. Resetting it the normal way wasn't clearing it. I saw your video, tried it, got the "done" message, and the engine light went off 🤷♂️

My check engine light just came on this morning found ur video and it worked for me but just said done, no code popped up
I've had the same thing happen to me but my vehicle Felt like it was running fine so I disconnected. My ground cable on the battery kept it off for about 10 minutes. Put it back on, reset everything. It erased the engine light and then didn't come on again. Sometimes the engine light can be triggered by certain circumstances. But there'll be nothing wrong. But if your engine light comes on and it's flashing while your vehicle is running then you'll want to take it to a mechanic because it's a more serious issue.
@Relevantminded it's a solid light. My husband has a code reader and gonna bring it home from work tonight, hopefully it's nothing bad 🤞
@riler19 Good luck, if you have 3.6L engine they're usually pretty good I've had to change a couple rocker arms because of ticking noise just small things here and there.

Mine did the same. My brother in law is coming with my other vehicle, tools, and code reader. Pretty sure its a misfire but no code showed up with this trick, just the message done and back to the odometer.
I did not see the code.
It's where the odometer is if you cycle the button 3 xs stopping on run on the 3rd cycle
I saw the word DONE then it changed to odometer@@Relevantminded
What is the code used for ?
@user-qf6bj2ix3w it's a generic engine light code to give you an idea why your engine light is on. It's a tool for Diy'ers to see if it's something they can fix themselves, and for others to educate them so a bad mechanic doesn't try to take advantage of their customers.
