Really?! wow! I mean it's already amazing singing in the original key and singing it not 1 but 2 Keys above is really a feat in itself !!.... She even raised the emotional value of the song with that, which is a very important aspect when we sing a song! That's why she's the 3rd-gen's best vocalist !!
It's two keys higher simply because she's more comfortable in that range. She's a soprano, so if the song were in its original key, she wouldn't have been as powerful/comfortable. Just because someone sings higher doesn't mean that they're a better vocalist than someone else. It's just a question of vocal register.

According to the reaction of Brother-in-law, he already knew that it was Wendy. Wendy slayed it like omg, my eyes got teary for a moment.
Brother-in-law Sungjae guessed that it's Wendy in the first round, but the judges chose the guy that Wendy went against. That's why she was being revealed in this clip. Haha the judges was like WAHHH YOOK SENSE because Sungjae guessed the other singers correctly. But they were suspicious about this because he's Joy's virtual husband and he probably already knew Wendy was going to be in the show. But Sungjae said that's not true, he could tell its Wendy because of how she sings. He knows this because he's a MC in inkigayo and he watches the performances lol. Then the kim gura was like it seems like you paid more attention to Wendy than Joy lol then Sungjae got flustered and said no that's not it and Wendy said, what are you saying, joy might be watching! Then Sungjae said its Wendy's gesture and mannerisms when she sings that gave her identity away for him. Which is very true, Wendy has this aura and delivery of emotions when she sings. 👍

Her technique is really well developed ^^
She has no weak register.
She supports her mix really well up to D5.
Her lows are one of the best for females this era down to F#3 with breath support and tonality
Her head voice is better than anyone this gen if we only count active groups with support at A5/Bb5.
Her agility is also one of the best this gen, only some vocalist are agile in kpop and wendy is one of those few.
Generally good, placements vowels, cord clossure, projection, breath support, dynamics, transitions, pitch and intonation.
On the other side
She is just *a bit* nasal
And her resonance isn't that consistent.

In the beginning Irene and seulgi were the well known members pre-debut and even in debut. But I did see a lot of love for Wendy during that time as well. Nowadays, it's Joy who is popular because of WGM. Even Red Velvet members said that Joy has become very popular. Wendy is starting to branch out more doing singing shows and etc. as well as Seulgi. Yeri had her MC gig too..so I think as time goes on each member will become even more popular as they grow as artists as they grow as Red Velvet. I'm just happy that Red Velvet was in a lot of programs this past year. Granted I would love Red Velvet variety show, but I'll wait for it.
Irene is very popular these days, in my opinion. Not only her web drama garnered her success, but her perfect pairing with Park Bogum also helped. Plus, she has a beautiful face; who wouldn't love her? Now a days, Wendy and Seulgi don't seem very popular tbh. You see comments here and there, but it's always about Irene, Joy and Yeri (pos or neg attention.) I just hope people learn to appreciate all of them; they all are very talented. Given, there is still room for improvement; saying this as a fan lol. It just upsets me to see that some group members are less popular, rather less appreciated than the others. I think every group has this situation and it sucks, honestly.

is it me or does wendy really stand out the most when she sings solo? as a main vocal of red velvet, she always have to be careful and calculative most of the time because she’s always assigned with the hardest parts (whether it be low notes, high notes, runs or riffs). she still does undeniably enjoy her performances in rv but she still has the responsibility to maintain the pitch, guide the members to transitions, bridge one member from one line to the other-things a main vocal typically should be concerned about. but when she sings solo, she becomes carefree and that’s when we see the real her: soulful, sincere, and versatile. i hope people do not only know her as red velvet’s main vocal but recognize her as the singer that she is!
