Agree with you on all points. When brands disregard their USP it all too often goes badly for them. LV is all about the heritage for me...a picture of Audrey with her speedy brought me to the brand. After the last year I think a lot of people are re-thinking luxury purchases, and I hope LVs greed bites them on the bum 😆

Me too. I originally thought of saving up for a speedy because of that picture of Audrey. I actually correlate LV with it's canvass pieces.
I feel like if Louis Vuitton is considering as some say, getting rid of their canvas pieces/line in the favor of leather. I personally would lose my interest in the brand and their products. I can get leather pieces from other brands. I come to Louis Vuitton for their canvas pieces. I love them, I love their style. I love the rich history of them. I like that whole package. I think it's great that they're getting into leather and I would possibly have purchased some down the line, but the canvas is what brought me there or I wouldn't have looked twice.💕🙃

That being said... I really wanted the toiletry 26 and the 15. 🥲 pity party for me...
No way they are going to get rid off every canvas piece! They have high ticket items made out of canvas, including bags like Petite Malle for $5500. What they probably going to do is discontinue making the SLGs under $1000 , which some "creative minds" are trying to convert into actual bags. Then, they will replace them with the newer versions, which are going to be harder or impossible to mess with.
I am disappointed 😞 that LV is getting rid of classic styles. I love the LV canvas and don’t think they can compete with Chanel or Hermès with leather bags.

even us on the inside as employees dont even know why these were discontinued, it was so sudden for everyone! i would wish we had some answers, but honestly does any brand that discontinues pieces ever release explanations? NO! i fear we will all be left in the dark about these pieces 😭

I ended up panic buying the toiletry pouch 19 this weekend. I had the 15 & 19 on my wishlist to purchase later on maybe in a year or so, but I wanted to be able to have atleast one in my collection! It’s sad these are discontinued when they’ve been staples forever. I love the canvas pieces, it’s the reason I collect Vuitton.
I just sold my brand new, never been used, toiletry 26 today. I knew about the rumor but I had no use for it. I totally agree with your point not holding on to something you have no use for. I am happy with my 19. I wasn't after making any profit and I didn't, but I have no regrets.

I was able to get the Toiletry 26 earlier in the year and am very happy with that one. I am in search of the Damier Ebene mini Pochette - I love the thrill of the hunt with the LV website. I thought about panic buying it today for over $100 above retail, glad I did not. Enjoyed your video and comments. I believe more monogram items will be discontinued. Enjoy your summer.

Hi and thanks for the video. Enjoyed listening to it and concur with all your comments and thoughts on the subject. I suppose we'll never know the rationale as to why they've decided to pull these iconic canvas toiletry pieces from their inventory.
I luckily have all 3 sizes and use it as catch-alls across my bags alongwith my cosmetic cases, mini pouchettes and key cleas. I'm beginning to have a better appreciation for these pieces after hearing about LV's plan of withdrawing the toiletry pouches! Have a great week ahead ❤

So relieved I bought the 19 back in February. I really love it as a catch-all. I've been looking for a larger pouch and decided on the Gucci Ophidia pouch, which is pretty much identical in shape and size to the 26, except it has leather trim and a nice microfiber lining. I'm getting pretty fed up with LV, to be honest. There are so many other brands out there that provide a better experience, and inventory that is plentiful by comparison.
I was actually looking at the Ophidia too. It’s stunning. And agree with your points!
Oh and also, I just got the LV Etui Voyage and have been using that in case you are interested in another alternative.

I owned the T26 at one point and sold it earlier this year as it was unused. I am glad I made the decision before the news about the discontinuation hit, because just as much as a lot of people now fomo-buy the toiletry pouches, I might have ended up keeping it just because it suddenly became a rare item…
So true. Some people will cling to their toiletry pouches now, even if they’re not finding any use for them. FOMO is such a powerful feeling.

I totally agree about the entry level pieces. I started just this past November with a key pouch, and since then I have purchased many pieces. I was happy to grab a Toiletry 19 new from the store on Friday and a 26 preloved today. Knowing that this is the last chance to grab these at a "normal" price does put the pressure on! It's such a weird time to get into the LV addiction, with the huge price hike in January, and now this! At least we know the pieces retain value! Thanks for the video!

Picked up the 26 and 19 last year and have the mini pouchette in AZ. I’m happy won’t sell them. And picked up a pouchette accessories a few months ago. Saving that for my daughter when she turns 16. Figured just incase they stop productions or the price doubled from what it currently is. When i as 16/18 it was 300

I was in a store earlier this week and the SA told me that there are overall less canvas pieces available and they can’t order for you or transfer between stores. They are creating demand and are looking to move to doing pieces in more leather variations much like the recent empreinte versions of the neverfulls.

I'm happy I was able to get all 3 sizes this past year. I actually was able to buy the T15 in my local boutique last Thursday after I heard the discontinued news.
I am glad you did a video on this. Actually last week I had saw that they added the toiletry 26 to the world tour collection. So to me that would suggest that they are committed to providing this item for a long time. So it was very very very odd to me that the literal next day all the toiletries were gone. Did any one else see that the TP26 was a part of the world tour collection? Great video❤️

I called today to find one and no luck. But the CA on the phone told me it wasn’t confirmed discontinued. I think they will revamp it to where you can’t convert it so easily
These were not on my list but when I heard I was very sad…had something interesting happen to me re: monogram mini pochette. I bought lots online (pochette metis and bunch of slgs) in the last 4 months but couldn’t get the mini. I started calling around the stores and the online call centre. Just as I was giving up I get an email from the online concierge we are happy to offer you the mini pochette, you have 24 hours to click on order link - and now I have it! Couldn’t believe it! Thought I’d share I guess if you spend online this can happen too :)

After discontinued Favorite and Eva I am not surprised. They did it for selling Multi Pochette so may be in this case they also did it for introducing new product. Your thoughts with comparing mini pochette and toilittry pouche was so helpful to decide me what I should to buy so I do not regret not having this one :) thank you for your thoughts!♡

I'm sad about these discontinuations... LV also discontinued the Paul Notebook Cover and the Refill notebooks. I was finally able to get the Paul about 6 months ago, but now the insert notebooks are gone! 🥺 I haven't found a suitable replacement yet.
Completely 💯agree with you and feeling sad 😞 and frustrated 😡😡😡 of this LV stupid move as an LV Customer, as an LV ex employee and finally as an European. Canvas is the DNA 🧬 of LV: dismissing canvas items blindly without knowing for which reasons and without any substitute items which could compete with these 3 LV 👝 pouches is even more stupid. Once LV will realise how many lost sales it will provoke in their annual income, than I think 🤔 things will change at least that’s what I hope 🤞🏻. Personally I had these 3 items in my wish list but if LV does not want my money 💰 I’m 💯 % sure I will find an alternative in other designers brands which will suit as well this same need or even better! 😉😉😉😉. I think they’ll bring them back in leather at 3X the price. That’s what they did with the Favorite. I’m so sad that I wasn’t able to get the DA Favorite before it was discontinued. I’m just glad I was able to purchase all 3 toiletries a couple of years ago before all the price increases.

I am glad I purchased Game on TP 26. Its so versatile and the print upgrades it to a crossbody. Regret not getting By the pool TP26 and the red empriente TP26 even though they were in my basket. Not too bothered about TP19 or TP15. Still I am distraught💙
I bought the 26 last year, the 15 last week and just bought the 19 on Poshmark today after calling LV 3 days in a row and having my sister go to three stores they said had stock.
I bought a pre-loved 19 on EBay for 240 this weekend but there is some wear on the inside but canvas looks Great! I figured I can either just use a insert or maybe get it repaired. Yes Clutch for on Beach looks okay but i think its because LV is seeing a lot of damaged from toliertry being converted on the zipper part that hangs. Its not meant for this piece to be crossbody in my opinion. I do use my 26 as a catchall in my Neverfull😊
I sold both the 15 and 19 so I guess they didn't work for me anyway.... But trying to get a speedy b25 now that's a different story... So frustrating when they're sold out everywhere😩😒

lol I texted my SA yesterday with some panic purchases, but not the toiletry pouches (which I never loved). After this purchase I will be almost complete with all the canvas SLG and travel pieces I really wanted to have. I will treasure what I have, but I'm not sure about future LV bags - the style beyond the classics isn't grabbing me, so I must not be the target audience. I did get a new Celine yesterday - my first Phoebe - and I love it!
It's very odd to me that they would discontinue such staple LV pieces. Luckily I was able to buy the toiletry 26 last year in February before the pandemic hit. I specifically bought it to use as a clutch. At one point I wanted the 15, but I decided I want the cosmetic pouch instead. I really hope LV doesn't get rid of their canvas pieces.
I was able to get the 26 last year before the price increase. I think it is so versatile. Love it for travel and as a clutch! It is a great piece.

The classic (and simple) LV canvas pieces are the bread and butter of the brand, and moving in an unbalanced way from that classic aesthetic and into a more contemporary look (and thus, more readily dated) isn’t a great move. The iconic foundational branding is classic canvas. I personally, only have canvas pieces. Besides the last year’s gorgeous lambskin speedy in your collection, I have little interest in most of their leather and/or contemporary collections. Frankly, I find a lot of their recent pieces loud, obnoxious, and just plain ugly/tacky - created for IG. If I am going to spend $2k+ on a bag, it is going be a classic, not an “it” bag. Other fashion houses do a better job creating contemporary but classic leather pieces, IMO.
With the discontinuation of the toiletries, the severe limitation of the Pochette Accessoires, etc, LV seems to be intentional in ridding their line of the $500-$800 smaller and very handy “entry” canvas items. Grab and go items to run errands for daily life. I personally don’t want to toss around a $3k bag as a grab and go, and these hard wearing simple pieces do the job for me. The irony is that with LV starting as a trunk company with square trucks for practicality, removing some very beloved, practical items seems contradictory to their roots. An SA recently told me as well that they are moving away from canvas except in their travel line and moving towards leather. The store displays reflect that.

Great video! I still like their canvas over their leather bags. Agree with the other comments that we can get leather goods from other brands at a reasonable price. I got my T26 last November and I have not used it as I am enjoying my other small bags. I bought it because I thought it would look good with a strap. But it did not worked for me. Will decide this month if I will let it go and buy something that I would like to use.
I think the toiletry 26 is beautiful as is. You can use it as a casual clutch. However if it’s not working for you, I’m all for letting go of items that don’t serve us. 😉

i bought a T26 online 2 weeks ago without knowing and just wanted to know the size as my previous SA have left. i really wanted to see the size and if i will use them. i guess now i will hold it on abit for now :) 😂
Went on the purse forum and saw that it was officially discontinued. I have the T26, probably used it as a clutch twice but didn't like it because it didn't allow me to be hands-free. I used it most for travel or as a catch-all in my Neverfull. I realized the other day I am not using it as much because of Covid and always thought I would want to use it as a clutch and never did. I don't really like it as a crossbody in people because of the boxy shape - but people should be able to alter and use the products they buy as they see fit. If LV wants to encourage people to buy the leather bags they have to make styles that are actually cute that justify the price. the Pont 9 is not on trend and they were charging almost $4K. No thanks!

Exactly well said. If LV were to discontinue their canvas it really loosing its heritage. It all started of with their canvas, Damier Ebene and i love that print so much. It is really a silly idea if they were to do that. LV canvas is an entry level for those people who desire some form of luxury be it for early stage in their career or as a reward for themselves. I am so so happy i got my hands on the Pochette Accessories and will stay in my collection. I did though of getting the 19 initially but is just my 50, 50 unsure mind so therefore i did not get it. Now perhaps is meant not to be mine. May get the key pouch or the 4 key holder. I love their canvas but understand back then it was even thicker. Thanks for sharing.
I had these on my wish list on LVs website only to find them removed last week. I rushed over to the LV store inside Neiman Marcus to panic buy, and they only had the 15 available. I asked the SA in the store and she told me they were not being discontinued so I ended up not buying it. Now everyone is confirming that they are indeed discontinued and now I regret not at least getting the one they had in the store. Ugh!

I haven’t heard anything about the mini pochette but I wouldn’t be surprised if they discontinued more of the popular canvas SLGs. Guess we’ll just have to see!
I believe Dior and Gucci have some really nice toiletry pouches too, they are are other lovely options. If it’s just about loving and enjoying an item(which is why i buy my pieces) and not so much about buying into the marketing games and selling items later at higher prices than it may be worth considering other options.
I have a 19, and have been happy with owning just the 19 since the day I got it. The discontinuation hasn’t changed the way I feel. Companies will always come up with functional products that people love, so it’s only a matter of time that we have the next Toiletry Pouch.

I have the 26 & 19 and was at some point going to get the 15 . I wasn’t in a hurry to get the 15 since I thought it’s a classic piece it will always be there . I guess I was wrong but I’m okay not having the 15 since I have the other two sizes.

Used to be so into LV but constantly not having the items that I wanted made me not interested with LV anymore. Likewise with Chanel so now I’m just buying from Dior
I don’t blame you. It’s interesting because Dior is more accessible as they have inventory in stock, they sell most of their items online and their customer service is generally known to be superb. However, most Dior items do not hold their value the way classic LV and Chanel pieces do. So I guess we can’t have it all.
@@hellocatwalkcity I think if you plan on selling them then definitely go to Chanel or LV but someone like me who tend to by for my own happiness and what makes me feel good, I always just buy the things that I like regardless of the price. Maybe it’s different when it comes to bags. I’m just sad that most Dior prices are over the top but I feel luxury whenever I shop at Dior.
Handbagholic had a very interesting take on the discontinuation. She didnt really think it had much to do with people making it into a bag, but more about canvas in general, and wanting to push their leather and who they want carrying their items.

I was on the London tube (Underground) going down the escalator and noticed a guy holding, what looked like, a Toiletry 26 (in Demier Graphite I think!) under his arm like a clutch. So, out of curiosity, I had a look at the men's SLG's on the LV site. They have a similar version of the Toiletry 26 called the Pochette Voyage MM except there are card slots and a slip pocket inside in different versions. Only look at the difference in price! So, I'm thinking, that LV may bring back the Toiletry 26 by modifying it (like putting card slots and having a strap option possibly) and then charging twice or three times the price! Watch this space!!!
The men’s collection has some really nice pieces. You may be right - LV may just be revamping the toiletry pouches to bring them back fresh with new prices. We’ll see!

Hey! It's NOT going away--spoke to my SA today. It's being relaunched in different prints come July 2020. I saw the prints--they're more modern and jazzy! I think they want to move in a more artistic direction. TBH, the monogram was too popular with all the conversion kits. PLUS, they're also not going to let it compete with the COUSSIN----which I don't even like. 🙄🙄🙄
The monogram is the iconic one. The fact that they’re pulling it is what’s so disappointing. Not many ppl want the new “artsy” ones.

There are so many luxury houses that produce good leather bags. LV has the best canvas in the world. I really hope that they are not “spitting” on the plate they ate for soooo many years. Because I wanted to build my handbag collection first and focus later in the SLGs, I had no time to buy them. 😔

I received a letter from LV SA (this person was assigned to me; as in the past year I did only online shopping at LV) with an offer to pre-order items for their coming collection Wild at Heart. There are no canvas bags in it. I feel like there is nothing to buy at a price less than €2K+ :( I'm not drawn to any of their new handbag designs. I find them too arty-crafty :) all my attempts to ask about canvas pieces were redirected to new collections and leather "alternatives". I feel like canvas items are getting really scarce.
As for TP, I have one more point to mention. There is a possible issue that LV may not be happy about, and it is that when people change their toiletry pouches into bags then any damage that may occur to canvas (and I could see it happening from the pressure of the chain rubbing against the zipper in my case) or a zipper wouldn't be repairable due to misuse of the item. May be they didn't want to deal with the possible complains coming from this direction and that is why, removing the whole line was rather a justified option.

I heard yesterday fro LV that the toiletry -ouches were getting a face lift.
I panicked now and got the T19+T26! BNIB from trusted sellers. I LOVE my T15 and now I have all three sizes and am very happy!🥰
Another possibility…Because of the relatively inexpensive price of the SLGs, many people buy them and cut them into earrings, hat emblems, etc… and sell them in their small boutique shops. You can’t walk into a shop anymore, anywhere without finding some sort of “repurposed” LV monogram canvas. They sell earrings for about $80 a pair….Just imagine the profit margins for these boutique owners. Just my own thought. The brand is losing exclusivity because of this.

Just purchased one pre loved for $100. It’s funny that now they redesigned it with a chain strap and accompanying toiletry 15. This is exactly why they discontinued the original toiletries.

I am going to guess that the profit margin isn’t worth it for them. LV has been so much about selling as many products at as low a hard cost as possible. I’d say that the smaller products likely cost more to make (time, skill, etc) versus the profit on it. Because they can only sell a small item for so much. In the last couple decades the quality has declined and the number of products made and sold have increased… just my perspective. 🤷🏼♀️
It is designed to have some exclusivity and also to keep us all clamoring for things and not sitting on them. Pochette Accessoires went up to $1290 before they discontinued it.
I believe we should all relax it’s just the toiletries they are discontinuing. We don’t know if they are coming back or not. They will revamp with a better one. Let’s wait to judge the brand.

I grew to love LV for their heritage and their history behind some of their classic designs like the Noe was made for 4 champagne bottles etc. Their canvas pieces are so signature to the brand and I loved the simplicity of these SLGs, where no other fashion houses (IMO) had such a range and versatility in their pieces. Such a shame they are pulling the plug on these and potentially putting them back in stock and jacking up the prices which they have done before, taking advantage of their customers and the spotlight some of these SLGs are in right now. But I guess that's just business and making money... :/

i guess they are bringing a new style of the toiletry wherein it has a removable strap and some compartment inside like the voyage. and they will change it to a higher price. cos this is a classic and i think louis vuitton doesent want to see us using their product with a third party straps or chain. they want us to carry the whole louis vuitton style so they will bring that design soon. and the price of this toiletry 26 is like a price of other SLG's they have so they need to change it
I sold my 19 3weeks ago and I’m kicking myself in the butt. I used it a few times but i had finally gotten my hands on the multi pochette and thought to myself that I didn’t need the toiletry if I had the multi but had I known it was going to be discontinued, I would’ve kept it 😭

@@hellocatwalkcity this is true! It’s never good to have something just to have it and never use it. I know that it wouldn’t get much use but the fomo is real especially knowing that it’s a discontinued item. Oh well, it is what it is. There will be other bags/SLGs
They basically revamped it and increased the price tag to match that of a handbag simply because they saw people were reinventing the pouches as handbags.
I just popped into the LV at Macy’s and the SA there told me these are not discontinued. He said they had a few 19’s last week. That he doesn’t know why everyone is freaking out (he was talking about me lol). He said it’s the summer time and a lot of travel has picked up and these are such coveted pieces that they’re going faster than normal. Hoping to score the 19 as soon as some arrive. Just thought I’d share for anyone in NYC.

I didn’t further inquire about the error message on the website, but he did say it’s super hard to find any canvas piece on the site to begin with. Speaking of which I snagged the last monogram key pouch at the store! I happened to mention it and he said there was one available. Let’s hope I’m as lucky for the 19’ toiletry pouch.
