  • The plaintiffs rented an illegal apartment from the defendant. The place was infested with black mold, and they were forced to move out to protect themselves, so the plaintiffs are suing for moving expenses, a security deposit, and lost wages. The defendant claims the plaintiffs don’t have a case and they actually moved out due to zoning laws.

      even landlords renting out illegal places try to steal the deposits . 99 percent of landlords are crooks and thieves when it comes to the deposit money and they all think they are entitled to it for no other reason other than they simply own the property .

    WHAT? Organising a move in 2 days is NOT the same as 30 days, and if you go with professionals they add extra because it's an emergency. They should have been awarded the moving costs...

      I completely agree. I think Judge Milian got this part wrong and if the plaintiff had pointed it out this way, then she might’ve awarded some money on it.

    The landlord said in the beginning that he will NOT be paying them a DIME today. He is correct. He has to pay them almost $1500. 🤣🤣

    30 days to move is NOT the same as 1-2 days to move. That DID REQUIRE a company's help. They needed to be REPAID FOR THAT.

    I think the judge is wrong about the moving cost. I mean they had to scramble to get moving trucks and a place to move it to in 2 days. She said well you could have to move at any time? Yeah 30 days you can find friends and trucks places to keep your stuff a new place to live they should of 💯 gotten back the moving costs

      I agree. A 30 day move could’ve allowed them to recruit friends and family to assist. Moving in 2 days is a huge inconvenience with no time to make adequate plans

      Noving costs is not part of the case. And it is not law that the tenants get reimbursed for moving costs. You can go cheap and get moving vans or rental trucks in two days called U-Haul.

      ​@@trekgirl65I have called uhaul and could get a truck for a week!! I just wanted to pick up a couch and the only place that had one was an hour and a half away from where I am. Its not that easy to get haul trucks. People reserve them weeks in advance.

      @@claypartridge7553 hey friend 👋.....I like pointing out decent people. They are a rare find in today's world..... I'm a rock hound. I go crystal mining in Arkansas, Herkimers in NY, etc. So that's my mentality in life, finding hidden gems, treasures in the trash - flea markets and dumpster diving.....and that's the way it is with everything. The litigants on this show are usually the type I avoid in real life. But every now and then, a decent person appears. And then I shout - Eureka! I have found it! 🥳

    First of all their apartments in New York are so small they have the nerve to split one apartment into that is highway robbery they should expose all these landlord and the cost of the rent is ridiculous

    JM should've reimbursed for moving. Although they're on a month to month they would have had more time to move not 1 to 7 days. She know last minute moving is stressful. They should have gotten more.

      I kind of get it. If they only incred 1 moving cost then there would have been a cost regardless. If they argued because it was last minute, prices were higher or my cousin who has truck couldn't help us out then they maybe they could have gotten something.

    I would have to disagree with the judge about the moving expenses.
    If I were given 30 days to vacate the property, I would have 30 days to either shop around for a good price on movers or give advance notice to friends and family to help with the move to save on expenses.
    Some moving companies charge a premium for last minute bookings.
    The old feet over the fire excuse for changing the premium price.
    Sorry, still love the hot court Justice.

      I agree. I would have argued that if I have 30 days to move I could have moved things on my own terms and arrangements and wouldn’t have necessarily had to hire movers at all. They should have been compensated for that.

    I've easily watched HUNDREDS of these episodes...even been the first to view and comment on a few... This is the first time I've seen a banner asking us to "like and comment". I respect Judge Milian, so I liked and am now commenting - as I was instructed.

    My ex husband was a roofer, and they would roof under all kinds of conditions. Bad weather, houses in poor condition didn’t matter.

    They should have gotten half of their moving costs. They were forced to pay whatever the mover wanted to charge on 2 day notice. If they had 30 days they could have shopped around. The landlord is a bum.

      No one is forcing you to do so. It is hard to find a rental in NYC, especially with that amount of short notice and the high rents being another factor. Not everybody has friends or family close by they can go stay with temporarily or money for a hotel.

      Who’s to say they didn’t move due to a financial or medical emergency, or natural disaster. Sometimes families need help. I don’t agree with relationships where women choose or are made to stay on the street or in bad situations when they have other options. But this doesn’t seem to be that

      @@adwallace021938 They’re not questioning if they’re married. The quotation marks indicate that the plaintiff’s actions don’t meet their standards of what a husband should do. They believe a husband should have provided a better alternative for his wife and children rather than temporarily staying with them in emergency housing, regardless of the circumstances.

    Slumlords defy city ordinances with housing, especially when it comes to infestation of mice, rats and roaches. They hate to call the bug person on roaches due to the fact that it is an added expense every month or every three months.

    I think they SHOULD have got moving cost... ITS RARE.. but month to month or not...I WASN'T PLANNING ON MOVING and they'd give me 30 days...IVE BEEN MONTH TO MONTH 7 YEARS...IM NOT PLANNING ON GOING ANYWHERE... if I'm FORCED to go there's a MOVING COST for me because of negligence on their part

    Once I heard the part about y the plaintiff is suing,u really don't need to guess who would win. At the end of the case the defendant is still this hardheaded clueless thief of a man. How u tryna say the judge don't know anything because of a joke she made at ur expense that ur taking as her being serious. Yea ok buddy.     Not 5 seconds go by and Milian is already interrupting the plaintiff whom is black with a nasty look on her face. But she swindled these litigants out of their money. She even disrespects them by saying stop talking. They should've been given the full amount they were asking. $5000 they should've been paid. Milian does it again to yet another black litigant.

      I'm glad Adrian doesn't run court, he'd be ruling "BONANZA! BONANZA! BONANZA!" for every litigant that sued for the maximum. Of course, most people with common sense knows that litigants in court don't usually get the entire amount they sue for. Adrian obviously ignored why Judge Milian ruled the way she did.

    No, they don’t get a free ride. They get to take their rent money, put it in the account with the bank book of some sorts to prove to the judge that I am not unwilling to pay my rent, but I will not live in squalor.
