I just did new batteries, plugs, oil/filter on my (2) vx cruiser ho’s @ 35 hours. Starting 4th season and super easy to do. Saved myself easy $500 in just labor.

Just check those plugs after a couple hrs, looked like you didn't torque them down enough. All plugs have crush washers and when new you need to "crush" them when installing. A torque wrench is best for ppl who don't have a good feel of when the washer crushes and the plug actually gets tight. And by all means DO NOT overtighten them or you can face serious damage.

In case anyone wondering - manual calls for 25 N·m (2.5 kgf·m, 18.4 ft·lb) torgue on spark plug
Oil filter is also 18 ft/lb torque - use small torque wrench (i.e. bicycle tool kit) so the you right in the middle of the torque wrench adjustments (don't use the torque wrench designed for car's wheels because it's not accurate on low values)
Yamaha service manual for a 2018 VX with this engine says 17Nm / 12.5 ft-lb for the oil filter.

Great video! Thanks for putting it together. I'm curious why you start the engine before turning on the water hose and then turn off the water before shutting down the engine.
You can damage the engine internally if you don’t start your engine before running water.
It's in the yamaha manual. You can force water into the engine and damage it if the engine isn't running while the water is on.

Wish you would of shown your trick to getting the spark plug out on the right. The one that has part of the fiberglass body over it. I’m actually thinking of drilling a hole thru there to drop the ratchet extension down. ?????
All you need is a short extension.

@@Junsworld I bought the cheap one he is taking about and could only get about 2 quarts same as a lot of other people on 2 oil changes .. so I'm guessing this Matco extractor pulls more somehow?

I have never been to Florida but want to go down there and do some fishing and kayaking and maybe a little ride on a ski. I want one to go fishing with so I can get places faster than my yak but I have had 3 spinal fusions and about to have shoulder surgery in June and my birthday is June 3rd

The water was from me washing the motor after riding in salt water
Can you mess up the Jetski by washing the engine ? What do you spray to get rid of the salt and then keep it looking shiny new?
As long as your motor is off when you’re washing it it won’t cause any harm to it I basically use Dawn soap and wash the top of the motor and I sprayed it down after that I spray WD-40 marina Lubrication spray all over the motor to keep it from rusting
