You're a vintage, original kinda guy. A lot of people these days don't understand that. They would rather see a modern Lamborghini/Ferrari/Corvette. Y'ALL GOTTA RESPECT THE HISTORY OF THESE CARS, that's where Ross is at.

From my personal experience changing out cams and building motors since I was 16 yrs old. Cam duration has the most effect on engine sounds, any engine for that matter. The longer the valves stay open the more lope sound you get. Engines are nothing but Air Pumps run by a type of fuel. Many years ago my dad owned a '67 Vette with a 427, and from what I remember it was a stock car and it had a lot more lope to it then that off yellow Vette. Maybe it had a rebuild and the cam was changed ? Also that Vette can be a screamer as it weights about 800 lbs less then the Boss. As with my comment on Can sounds that Boss or even the 302cu versions had huge Duration Cams, if memory serves me correct those cams were the largest factory duration cams period. It is all about getting more air in and more air out. For instance most people think the when they read the side of a Carburetor box and it say 650 cfm that this number refers to how much fuel it flows, but they are incorrect as it is the measurement of cubic feet per minute (cfm) of Air. The exhaust on the yellow Vette sounds a little choked, maybe it need to be opened up, those big blocks need to flow air out as well as in. 3 inch pipes would make a huge difference, as those tail pipes looked like 2.25/2.5 at best but then your drivability goes to waking up the neighbors which some of us old school hot-rodders like to do.

Hey Joab, really appreciate your detailed comments here. I think it’s safe to assume the engine of the yellow one was rebuilt during restoration, but whether it’s still stock I’m not sure. I have a mechanic who will work on it a bit this winter once he finishes the Boss 429. It seems to me that the idle is also a little high on the Corvette. I’d like to hear a ‘67 427 / 435hp tri power engine!

@@TireKickers-RossCameron Many years ago I owned a Sign Shop, I painted and Lettered all types of race cars, Mud trucks, etc... My shop was in NW Florida but I would get calls to go to LA, MS, AL, and GA, all the time since there were not may Hand Painters that could letter like I could. So in the process of working with so many racers I built my own motors, using the knowledge of some of the best mechanics in that area, many of them were record holders. So I picked their brains all the time and when I got the chance I would get them to do some work for me, and since their race car was being painted and or lettered by me they really did me right. I also got a lot of used parts from them which were always top quality parts which I used to build my first Stroker motor. They used to joke with me when I would go to the salvage yards as I knew some many Casting Numbers, like for Heads, or Blocks and friends would call me to go with them to find special parts that they needed. I bought my stroker block for 10 dollars and it was out of a 1969 350/300hp Camaro which uses the same block casting as the second generation Z/28's which were high nickel blocks with extra thick walls and that block was really seasoned too, which is a secret I learned from one of the most talented mechanics I have ever known. He used older seasoned blocks to build his race motors from as the cylinders, crankshaft etc... have done all the shifting they were going to do after 60-100k miles. People would come from out of state all the time to get Cody Johnson to build their motors. Those were the days, things are not this way anymore, most salvage yards are gone and so are the deals and the great people are now so old lol, like me @ 58yrs OMG!

The duration of the camshaft profile is what gives the engine that (potato, potato, potato) choppy sound. 1966 was corvette second year offering a big block 427. Love the corvette very nice.

i have 3 chevy's and only 1 ford, but I'd really like to get a shelby gt350/gt500. In my experience so far, the Corvettes handle better than the Mustangs, even tho the Mustang has a better exhaust note.

I have not seen the dead cat you are currently using but for high wind situations you want to make sure to use the really long haired versions. Pro tip.

@@TireKickers-RossCameron You also may look into a high-pass filter. My only concern with a high pass filter is it may effect the more robust sounds of the engine you are trying to get while dealing with the wind noise. Anyway it seems like to will get there with a little trial and error. I enjoy both your channels and I look forward to your upcoming videos. Best of luck.
