I really love his voice, his accent. There's a certain kind of grace and elegance to him, his voice and his demeanor. Beautiful male face and movements. I wonder whatever happened to him. What he's up to now. I think it's too bad there's not much people that are like him around. I think Hollywood today is so full of brash, crass, in your face type of people and personalities and fashion. He is the opposite of that, he exudes sophistication. A real gentleman.
Guess one has to be like him, handsome, talented, and almost perfect to become a quite successful in the show biz as an Asian man in US at that time. We don't even see any Asian guy as handsome or talented as him till today in Hollywood... Sad.
@jinqinshen I don't know if there are anybody in Hollywood that has this personality of generous patience and generous amount of gracefulness, to me he comes across as a person of very good breeding and manners. It really is a sad state of affairs, the way people relate with each other now - there's not much importance placed on having good manners anymore, like how this man shows. There's quite a decline in Etiquette with each passing generation I think.
And with him, it really too bad that that if he was being discriminated against in Hollywood because of him being Asian. It is such a loss for Hollywood. He has such elegance and class

I remember having a big crush on this guy when I was a teen and saw The Last Emperor and he was absolute 🔥in The Moderns ❤️ Literally one of the most underrated (and very sexy) performances of the past 40 years. I’d definitely call him the very first Asian hot leading man type in America a groundbreaker - he’s SO young and beautiful here and I love his voice!

Thank you for uploading this video. He's before my generation and I was just a baby when his career peaked. Who would have thought that 30+ years later I'm now obsessed about him! He's the most beautiful face I've ever seen! His performance in the Last Emperor brought me to tears.
Same here! I remember hearing his name when I was very young but not until recently did I come across his work and got to know him a little through his some of his interviews. What an amazing artist and human being in general. I wish I knew of him 30 years earlier when he might have been more active in the public eye.
I came across this clip simply by accident. I had watched The Last Emperor in the theatre and clearly as John put it, I was "overwhelmed". John is not only handsome, stylish, and spoke eloquently, he is also humble and benevolent. There must be good reasons why he went into hibernation in acting. I hope film makers will take notice of him and bring him out from hiatus and give him another epic role most fitting for his incomparable talent 👏
He revealed inan interview with an italian media years after the last emperor that there wasn't many roles for him even after the huge success partly because in the end of the day he is Asian. And another reason is that he is very picky about movies and doesn't want to repeat playing same or similar roles over and over.
So lovely to see John Lone interview, he is by far the most talented artist of China.

I think the difference is that Jackie Chan was already a successful actor in Hong Kong, he didn't start his career in Hollywood whereas John Lone started his acting career in Hollywood and became successful.
