I'm glad TMNT is going far out and weird for their 40th Anniversary. TMNT's greatest strength as a franchise is the amount of different takes people have on it.

@@psychobilly42069 right, and there's a version for everyone. I like the 1990 movie and mirage TMNT, some people like Rise and Mutant Mayhem. Not my thing, but I love that one franchise produces so many variations.
I really like how they went with the original 2003 Design for Donatello instead of the later seasons version.

Sorry I didn’t think of this before but the Jones’, the O’Neil’s, and yes even the new turtles of the last ronin-verse are members of the Hamato clan. They r not bonded by heritage or genealogy! They r bonded by the teachings of Splinter and his master Hamato Yoshi. But, none the less they r a family and just because the story continues after Mikey death doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be told.
There was one announcement I was really hoping for; last year a picture with Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird from VERY recently was teased with the caption "big things coming next year!" and I was REALLY hoping that was going to be the two re-uniting for another issue/another run. Laird mentioned last year he was feeling the urge to pick up his pen again, and I still really hope he has it.
Hope it will show Venus from the Next Mutation version just like it shows Jennika from IDW. It's the same just like the 50th Anniversary Scooby Doo Comic showed all versions of Scooby.

I bet 2003 Donatello would make fun of the 87 turtles but gets called by the 2012 Michelangio for insulting the 87 Turtles, as a nod to how Turtles Forever disrespects the 87 Turtles whereas Trans-Dimensional Turtles & Wanted Bebop & Rocksteady respected those iterations.

haven't read any of the on-going comics(only ronin since archie series), but would love Ninjara back. not just comics but in cartoons and movies as well. only new thing know her in is as a background character in Shredder's Revenge.

I would instead had pick Mirage Comic Raphael, 2002 animated Leo, 2012 Donatello and probably 1990 Michelangelo for the multiverse team.
I found the last few usgai not the greatest cut back on what I read and those crossovers and spin offs didn't make the cut. Excited for the main boom though

The reboot, really just a renumbering is just called "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles", it's a new volume of the main turtles book, still set in the continuity established by IDW Publishing.

Aw man. I’m still reading V7 of the IDW comics and other comics. How can I keep up?
Are you only reading the volumes of the main series, or are you buying the books labeled "the IDW collection"? I ask because the cheapest way to own the entire IDW continuity is through the IDW collection, as they collect both the main book and any accompanying spin offs in reading order. I don't know how many volumes that it would be in just regular single volumes, but the IDW Collection books are $50 each but collect a much larger portion of the series at a time, and can generally be found on sale or used for cheaper. There are currently 15 volumes of the IDW Collection, which are not caught up to the current issues. They are currently up to issue #124 of the main book, out of the 148 currently available.
What I recommend you do is jump in to the newest turtle books when the Free Comic Book Day issue releases the first Saturday of May, read the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Alpha #1" book releasing in June, then stick with the relaunch of the main book in July, along with whatever other spin offs interest you while you slowly save up to buy the rest of the series in whatever format you prefer.

Rottmnt turtles are the strongest turtles period.
I havent gotten into the idw comics cause of the time commitment but I will def read the cross over since anything with the 2003 turtles will have my attention.

It's mid if nothing happened with the next gen turtles in the lost years then last ronin 2 ain't worth buying cause all they did was break continuity raises alot of questions, presents edge lord ideas that fail in execution, killed the turtles in brutal ways and had michaleangelo globe trot and waste time to learn new skills when he's one of the potentially gifted best fighters like leonardo and didn't develop its villains like the death worm or hiroto orroku nor baxter stockman and they ruined the ending by bringing in idw fan fiction ideas of replacing the tmnt with a next generation which led to Peter laird and Kevin eastmans friendship splitting apart with all these extra mutant gimmicks
Last ronin could've been reworked to fit in line with the Mirage continuity but they failed in execution, Casey marie jones should've been Shadow Jones for one, the story should've been about the foot breaking their truce with the turtles when the mistress aka head hunter tang Amai usurps the japan foot head quarters branch from karai to attack a long forgotten tmnt ally Gosei hattori and takes over his company to control new york and she uses foot mystics to ressurect her love the shredder orroku saki from the shark body he was last seen as but instead awakens the spirit of orroku nagi and he takes over where his brother failed so many times and he attacks and ambushes the turtles because his restless spirit had encountered splinter and the turtles before in tales of the tmnt.
The last ronin animated movie or in Netflix as separate episodes for each comic would be marvelous 🐢🍕
I will never buy another loyal subjects figure. They are cheaply made and break with the slightest move. They look cool if you leave them in the package but don't open them. Save your money!

If I didn’t like change I wouldn’t have enjoyed basically every other interpretation of the Turtles.
All of those included big changes.
The new show just has discarded all the characterization of the individual turtles. They all act the same by trying to make a joke every line of dialogue.
The change of exploring the turtles trying new weapons is a good idea. But the execution was poor.
I never read a turtle comic . I grew up on the 90s toys and toons and films . Any recommendations?
The original mirage and archie comics are the one I've grown up with, enjoyable read. I don't know where you can get your hands on them though.
If you're interested in the classics tmnt ultimate collection vol 1 is good place to start.
If you want something a little more modern try tmnt the idw collection vol 1
There's also The Last Ronin if you'd like a darker story about one last turtle left alive seeking revenge for his family
