I miss times when devs actually care about historic events and people involved in those events. Also I wish more shooters would explore Vietnam war or POV from "other side" like north Vietnam in that war or Japan in ww2.

We are so overdue for a good Vietnam FPS. I think there’s this misconception among devs that Vietnam is too one-tone of a setting (i.e. just jungle) and an aversion from writers because we lost the war and it was controversial, but there’s so many opportunities for varied mission types (jungle patrols, tunnel ratting, recon and surveillance, sniper mission, base defense, hill assault, heli mission ala Apocalypse Now, patrol boat mission, prison rescue, night time ambushes, tet offensive in hue) in so many varied locations (mountains of the highlands, swamps and rivers and fishing villages of the Mekong Delta, city streets of Hué or Saigon, base camps like Khe Sanh, horrific hilltop fighting like in Dak To or Hamburger Hill, and of course dense jungles and wide open rice paddies) and the setting gives writers the perfect opportunity to make a really good character driven story about the horrors, confusion and pointlessness of war.

Just beat the game again after not playing it for probably almost 20 years. It sure was buggy, but man it was still fun. Medal of Honor Allied Assault was the very first FPS game I ever had and played, and that and Pacific Assault will always have a special place in my childhood.

That blur on the mounted guns looks like a clumsy implementation of either a heat haze effect and/or the usual over-heating gun barrel forcing you to fire in bursts for the sake of balance.

i actually grabbed it from GOG and i have for the first time in 20 years replayed it. i ran through it when it came out and completed the game, and its nice to come back and be able to play it on modern hardware. What I have always wondered is where in the heck did they get the war time radio broadcasts from? i know its actual clips from World News Radio, so like where do i find this? i looked on google everywhere and nothing.

this was.a forgotten gem, released before half life 2 and better than it in most ways.its not perfect,it has its flaws, but didnt allied assault also have some flaws?
this game is hard to me even, the squad mechanics are cool too, there is basic physics in some areas.i havent played much of allied assault because of issues.but from what i played i didn't really like it as much as pacific assault and got lost.a lot.graphics aged well too.better than half life 2 even.

@@joethealternativegamer3935 agreed.half life 2 wasnt great even in 2004,they always say it was revolutionary, not as revolutionary as the first that is. it has a good physics engine, not much else, the story was alien 1984 invasion, the ai was garbage too,the graphics were meh.
medal of honor pacific assault is my favourite,of all the shooters i played it was my favourite.
people just need to grow up and realize, your masterpeice might be another mans garbage, and your garbage might just be another mans masterpeice, and again.people have opinions, and you may not agree with someone elses opinion, but that doesnt mean you have to harass, they usually just say "you are really wrong on so many levels" without saying why you are supposedly wrong, and sometimes go as far as to harass you.which is what i hate.

Better then Half Life 2? I own almost every Medal of Honor 2010 included never got to play airborne or warfighter I’m a big fan of the classic James Bond like games 1 to frontline/allied assault and also own Half Life 2 played Half Life 1 and I can say that is the biggest stretch I’ve ever read by a long mile in terms of narrative they are two completely different games, but if we’re just talking about gameplay and visual presentation that is just not true. Half Life 2 was way ahead of its time in terms of animation, physics, and the E3 press conference Lost Coast source engine tech demo showcased its graphics capabilities, physics, a.I. behavior. The environment look a lot better then MOH pacific assault in the id Tech 3 and it’s pretty obvious with the source engine being able use hi quality uncompressed high res textures and hi poly count assets(buildings, models, objects) where as the Id Tech 3 is primitive by comparison with many environments you can tell it uses low res compressed textures, characters have less detail and low poly compared to Half Life 2s. Physics is another major aspect that Half Life 2 beats Pacific Assault being able to use environmental objects as weapons and to also get around a level, throwing a Grenade into objects can send them flying or alter a certain path your taking. Pacific Assault because of the id Tech 3 does not have physics and limited on what it can do certain exploding barrels without physics and that’s about it. Lastly a.I. behavior you say the a.I. was garbage but provide no evidence to back that statement. Because having played half life 2 I know this is not true 100% the enemy will coordinate other NPC to defeat you and use sound tactics, where as in Pacific assault because of how the Id Tech 3 works the japs literally just trying shot you in the open or sometimes try charging you for no reason even if they are behind sand bags they will just shoot standing. The game also uses a squad mechanic which didn’t really work well and just felt tacked on and wasn’t new or revolutionary as other games did this and did it better by this time Full Spectrum Warrior which released the same year had it as a part of its gameplay and did it way better, the Socom Navy Seals games as well. Lastly this was the game that deviated from the James Bond covert operation aspect and lore it built with the previous games that made Medal of Honor unique and great to trying to be a tactical shooter and trying to imitate cod I don’t like this aspect of it. Is a horrible game? No but as a MOH fan I would not blindly defend this game and call it underrated by any means given when this came out there were better fps on the market Halo 2, Far Cry which gave birth to Crysis, Escape from Butcher bay, Doom 3, and half Life 2 all which were leaps bounds better than pacific assault.
