    Gawkers, talking heads, politicians... BUT NOT ONE PERSON is actually trying to UNCLOG the damn DAM! 🤣😆

    This dam needed allot of maintenance... city.. county state.. failed to address it. Now the bridge will likely cost allot more than the dam demolition.

      @nicotti Před 24 dny

      Bridge replacement was part of the original dam demo cost, as it wasn't built in a way that it would be stable without all the silt. The og cost for both was ~80 mil.

      maintenance had nothing to do with it. Water found a different path after debris (which has nothing to do with maintenance) clogged up the dam.

      @@joeskis Federal regulators found the Rapidan Dam to be in poor condition in their recent inspections over the last few years. Civil engineers say the typical design life for a dam is 50 years and this one was more than twice as old.
      They give Minnesota a C grade for dam conditions, which doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence, but it’s at least better than the national grade of D. It indeed needed something from looking at the grade.

      @@joeskis Heck yea. And they even permanently sealed up two of the seven gates so they would have less maintenance to do. I mean, they should have sealed them all up, amiright? Why not, then they would have had no maintenance at all to do. Problem solved.

    Well, I'm glad that Gov Walz said that the county commissioners won't have to pay for it. Here I am thinking they were going pay for it out of their paychecks for the next 5,000 years.

    I guess when you set bridge piers on TOP of Sandstone and not 10ft into it,,, this is what you get. How was that ever approved in the first place ?

    Complaining about the river and flood waters.. but ignoring the gigantic concrete dam in the rivers path. ."we will rebuild"..( at great expense) .

    'We are going to rebuild'... Are you MAD..? The dam needs to be removed, and the bridge supports re-enforced. Even God thinks the Dam should not be there.

    No one wants to repair 100 year old infrastructure. Nuclear power plants many over 60 years old also bandaided. Bridge collapses in the past. Grid, sewage systems all on borrowed time. Sadly, reactive is more a solution nowadays vs proactive. We need to solve USA problems before other countries problems. No other countries offering to rebuild our catastrophes. Many countries complain we do not help enough. 2023 taxpayer revenue 3.7 trillion but government spent over 6 trillion. Gold $2300/ounce reflecting devalued dollar

      at least once in a while the dam will wash out and the river can clean out all the silt. Then the beavers can re-build at ZERO expense to the TAX PAYERS OF THIS COMMUNIST STATE.
