UPDATE:
The title of this video used to be "Let's 100% the worst sonic game." Then I played Sonic Heroes. The title has been changed accordingly, thank you all for your continued patience and support.
Your in a treat with 06😂
Knukcles like's eating cement
play sonic 06 you will have alot of fun trust me
I miss my wife, tails.
i miss her a lot
I'll be back.
*eggman noises*
🤣🤣🤣🤣
SnapCube merchants whenever SA2 is even mentioned: 🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣
If you really look into it, this story is really dark, the biolizard is just left to rot, needing a life support system and having no back legs, a poor sick child dies, and a poor old man wanting to better humanity is arrested and executed for seemingly no reason, and the government and G.U.N just gets away with it all in the end with no repercussion, holy crap.
Shadow FUCKING DIES
In Sonic X the President actually has the ones who committed the atrocities on the Ark arrested and jailed.
to be fair Gerald did build a planet destroying laser, so GUN had a legitimate reason to raid the ARK. They shouldn't have shot Maria though and certainly shouldn't have given him the death penalty without at least asking why he did it.
@@josiebianchi3481at first he died but because he was so popular they brought him back. Apparently he crash landed on earth and one of eggmans robots found him and brought him back n eggman put him in a rejuvenation chamber of some sort. So there you go lol
Not to mention how to government criticizes gerald for using the chaos emerals yet you find chaos drives in the gun robots
"What the hell kind of shoes are those?" - Product placement shoes. A company called Soap made shoes for rail grinding and paid Sega to have Sonic wear them. (There are also some in-game billboards with the company's logo.) They've since gone out of business, so Soap Shoes are now only associated with the Sonic franchise.
So Sonic apparently buys shoes at the soap store...
Another company has more recently started selling a new version inspired by the failed originals & are calling them "Epic Grindshoes". I'm not sure that the market for them is _more_ today than it was back then though...
Lol this is 50% incorrect. They didn't actually make shoes for rail grinding. It was just over the top fashion
@@alwaysabiggafish3305 give me the source that gives a clear history on how Soap shoes were _apparently_ misrepresented by the entire world as rail grinding shoes :)
As one of the mentioned "loved the games since I was like 10" people, watching this made me realize how many parts of the game just aren't clearly designed for newcomers
16:13 There's literally a blinking arrow sign pointing AWAY from the hidden mandatory upgrade, what were they thinking lmao
THANK YOU FOR THE VALIDATION, that upgrade bit sent me into a spiral
There's an Omochao there you're supposed to walk into which will tell you to get the booster upgrade. The section is misleading and the camera doesn't help as it just completely points away from the path with the upgrade but there is a logic here. If the platform falls and you know you can't make the jump, your only option is to talk to the Chao or to turn around and look for another way
im mixed on how I feel about that. it depends on if we are considering death unintuitive as a teaching tool.
you might get caught off guard and fall trying to walk across the bridge, then you might die again trying to do a running jump, but I cant imagine a person would die much more than that. Therm did figure it out, i think it's just more frustrating because death and lives were involved. if it just spawned you back a bit i don't think it would be any different than a ledge you cant reach until you turn around.
I think that's the least garbage thing in the level.the robots that fall way too close to you to be fair and the missiles that hit locations you cant prepare for sucked. In General Ive noticed Tail's levels had the most things that felt unfair. Weird how eggman's feel pretty alright.
@@Gatekid3 I feel like Tails' levels were the least tested. Originally the plan was for only Sonic, Knuckles, and Eggman to be playable in the story, and playing as Rouge, Tails, and Shadow came later (Hence some older trailers showing Sonic in Sky Rail because the level was originally meant for him).
So eggman got the best mech stages because they were planned from the start.
Bro this is a kids game literal children could figure out how to play this game even when I first played this I was like 13-14 and I beat the hero story in a few hours . Bro is just bad at games
rail grinding was broken in the steam version originally you made slight ajastments with the joystick to slightly turn and stay upright on the rails and if you are upright and hold B you gain speed however the steam version for some reason has its rail controls broken so its basically impossible to do the precise tilts nessasary for some levels
sorry for typos small phone keyboard and text crunch
This is exactly what I was afraid would not be apparent from the viewers perspective, your empathy calms my soul
@@ThermChannel "Bah, this guy insulting my peak Sonic game, can't even rail grind properly, must be skill issue."
@@ThermChannel this is a problem in every port, the dreamcast joystick was 100% centered at all times with no chance of stick drift. In the ports they were clearly on a time crunch because they heard about stick drift being a problem and quickly made a big square shaped deadzone that makes it so you cant lean like the game wants you to
If you go into steam's big picture mode and change your deadzone for the game it'll override the in-game deadzone and fix the rails
@@ThermChannel Also I love SA2, but I genuinely enjoy this and the first video, these games are absolutely janky but nevertheless fun once you get a hold of it
never had a memory card so i would always speedrun the first level so my sister and I could play in the chao garden. got it on steam to replay recently, can confirm the controls are god awful
Yeah it's bad but mastering the controls feels really rewarding. A ranking metal harbor hit different
Mind you the PC version fucked up the controls a lot sadly, even stuff like the Rail Grinding is super awkward now...
On my first playthrough on PC, the control on the controller was totally busted. Slightly tilting the analog stick = full run. It was only on a reinstall and a second playthrough that it fixed itself, and now I could complete the game without any issues. I do find SA2's controls a bit uncontrollable but once you get the hang of it, it's very rewarding.
@@littleguystarYeah, sadly SA2B completely screwed up the rail grinding.
You need to watch the deadzone tutorial on CZcams for the steam port. Completely unplayable unless you fix it imo
I swear all these problems are caused by emulation or by newer systems. I played this on the dreamcast with absolutely none of these bugs.
Because it is never SA2's fault.
@@matthewbraith0411 Never said that, but okay then. -\_('_')_/-
Battle is a bad port.@@matthewbraith0411
@@matthewbraith0411nah sega actually fucked up on the ports (gamecubes is minor, Steam is major)
@@Veksyn I think he ment it is the steam port's SA2 fault. If not, then he is dumb
I genuinely cannot wait until therm plays Sonic: Unleashed
Actually!!!
Yas
I’m waiting for “the bad ones” (every one he is playing is bad but like, the REALLY bad ones)
@@Starlight-ue8jy do you understand how little that narrows it down, literally 3d sonic game can be described as "the REALLY bad one"
@@nothydrossity I mean comparatively
I remember someone explained once why the dialogue and audio cut each other off or came in at strange times and it was something to do with making the english voice-over for the game (japanese vers. had no issues with this) but still it is really bad. absolutely iconic
It has to do with the audio sync. Usually when a game is redubbed in a different language they change how long the characters move their mouths in the cutscenes so that it at least somewhat looks like the characters are speaking when the dialogue is being played. But they didn't do this with SA1 or 2 and because some words are shorter or longer in different languages the audio doesn't sync up with the video and thus the characters end up speaking over each other or cutting each other off because they need to get everything said before the cutscene ends regardless of if it makes sense or not
It's actually because the game is meant for 50hz displays and not 60hz which is common in the west
@@seg_fault884 I think its a combination the both iirc
I'm cackling at all of this because I remember being equally as annoyed with things, but still played the absolute hell out of this game as a kid. If it didn't have the chao garden, I wouldn't have played it nearly as much, but man the cut scenes still make me laugh to this day.
1:45:20 "I wanna see how they made that jump, did they just see Sonic and decide 'that's the shape of a hero'?"
Believe it or not, that's not too far off.
my jaw dropped when they said that LMFAO no way they just nailed the plot
“Huh, that PFP looks like a TOH OC”
*Looks at channel*
“My people!”
I had so much trouble when I first played SA2. I thought it was a genuinely bad game but then I saw other people play it all cool and stuff and I remembered the classic Sonic replayability factor
Dude, I don't know what the fuck was going on with your game, because half the shit I saw NEVER happened throughout my multiple playthroughs.
therm the title of this video just sent a dagger through my heart
truly
Please remember to be respectful in the comment section and that you don't have to keep watching if you don't like the commentary on this one. That said, I'm having a great time!
I’m 5 minutes in and genuinely think I shouldn’t keep going I just love this game too much lmao but I will keep watching therms star dew valley stuff for sleep aid
@@alexisryry I hope you have fun with his other videos! And have a good sleep!
@@alexisryrylearn from me, this video is NOT for sleep aid
this is one of my favorite games in the world but i definitely understand his frustration lol. i am having a great time as well LMAO final rush is definitely The Stage Ever
Who the fuck do you think you are?
90% Skill Issues 10% the game being a buggy mess
But don't get me wrong, I was ass at this when I also played for the 1st time & blamed the game, so it really just takes a lot of time to get good
Agree on skill issue. I started just like this, but once you get a hand on controls, you literally fly through the levels. And you have more fun too. I was terrified of Final Chase when started first and now it's literally my favorite level
I cannot wait for you to get to Shadow the Hedgehog to see the thrilling conclusion of what happened in this game.
I'm honestly really happy he hates Mission Street, because I LOATHE MISSION STREET. Every time I play through this game, I get to Mission Street and I'm like "ugh, with this sh!t again." I'm surprised he got somewhat far on the stage without the booster upgrade lmao.
If you didn't grow up with this game, you will almost inevitably hate a large portion of the gameplay due to all the jank and lack of explanation for everything. I grew up with it and figured everything out, so I like it a lot. My friend did not grow up with it, he couldn't even make it to Crazy Gadget.
Edit 1: I'm now seeing his experience with Final Rush. Rails are indeed very jank. I never had any issue, I just hold down "B" and maybe forward but otherwise not any other direction. Chat may've been leading him astray or something.
Edit 2: Now at Dry Lagoon. He got one of the most evil, most awful random emerald placements--especially for his first time on the stage--and he missed actually getting it so many times, I am dying.
Edit 3: ...nobody tell him that there are 4 extra missions for every stage in the game, including Cannon's Core.
The PC port in particular caused extreme jankification increases for the rail grinding apparently.
Idk, I didn't grow up with this game because I only had PC, now I finally got a chance to play SA2B and actually really enjoyed the game. I'm using a keyboard and didn't really have any major issues with the controls. At least it felt way smoother for me than Heroes. The graphics didn't age very well (unlike lets say Rayman3), but I genuinely had fun with it. Just found Mecha levels kinda boring.
The video ending on Big Daddy Clem had me in stitches, I remember the stream and I thought "hey there was a guy at work who always looked like his eyes were gonna pop out and attack me".
it was interesting to watch this as somebody whos favorite game in the series is this one. i agree theres a lot of jank and some baffling design decisions, but i still love this game for its aesthetic, story, and gameplay.
It hurt seeing you struggle on final rush rails because the whole strat is to just not hold the left stick in any direction. You're supposed to just hold b and leave the left stick alone LMAO
when i saw the title i had to hold myself back from clicking away and say to myself "HEAR HIM OUT HEAR HIM OUT"
edit: I heard him out, all's good
Not me just quoting snapcube the entire video when literally anything happens
34:15 - 35:00 "alright, what am i supposed to do in here, everyone keeps talking about how Chao Garden was their absolute favorite thing"
"I am a fan of the Chao Garden"
35:53 - 36:06 😆
21:34 "HOW TF DID WE GET TO EGYPT??"
"they whitewashed him :o" hahahahaha amazing line 100/10
Hey Therm, all of your frustrations are super valid. You got stuck on some of the levels I got stuck on the most as a child.
Hopefully Sonic Heroes treated you better!
Edit: Oh, and about some of the audio balancing issues, I’m pretty sure that’s an unfortunate side effect of porting. I remember hearing that the original Dreamcast port had sounds balanced well, then porting it to GameCube messed everything up. And that’s the version Steam is based on.
I remember being here live and watching him miss that power up so many times lol
I can't wait for Sonic Heroes (my first Sonic game, I've beaten it even as adult, so hopefully it won't be as bad in terms of controls - I don't think I ever lost all lives in it). Wonder how it will be/was for you.
Also, I'm dreading your reaction to Sonic 06. That game is actually broken from what I'm aware. So good luck with it then.
Okay there are a lot of people in the comments that are saying the controls are bad and terrible . And that the level design is bad blah blah blah I’ve played this game I few times when I was young with my younger sibling as well as a few years ago im 24 now and I’ve never had any issue completing this or the first sonic adventure . Not saying it’s a perfect game but the games around this era all had a certain level of jank to them. But common bro literally little kids could figure out how to play this game my nephew was 4 when I first let him play and he was able to play no problem 😭
He’s trash like there’s no way you don’t understand basic video game controls. He was most definitely dropped on his head as a child.
I love seeing therm enjoy the first tails boss, I wonder how badly the last one will rail him (idk im still at the beginning)
Update, he nailed it like a champ
@@f33lscrub35he genuinely shocked me
Someone probably mentioned these things in chat, but anyway…
1. Sonic’s weird shoes are part of a product deal with the Soap shoe company. They had a plastic half circle in the sole for grinding on rails and I believe you could actually get the pair that Sonic wore.
2. One of the lyrics to the song in that first knuckles stage is literally…
“Wild Canyon fun, I gotta chase a bat, huh
Yeah, Rouge, she's sexy and smooth
A double cross spy thief that's out for my jewels, uh!
I'm feelin' her in mysterious ways
That's why I stay on point like, every single day”
3. The emerald treasure hunt levels are incredibly annoying because they essentially do gaslight you. The radar is based on your X proximity from the piece. So if it’s in one room and you’re in the next room over on a higher floor, it will say you’re next to it, but like… ya know.
You are very bold for having a video about what is basically the flagship Sonic game titled the way it is
My prayers are with you
“The Worst Sonic Game” Riiiiiiight….
You have a long road ahead of you if you consider this one the worst 💀
This was my FAVORITE game… to watch my twin play and rage to xD
The Chao garden, city escape, and Route 101 are they only bits I ever played haha
Therm, I've literally downloaded a couple of your videos on my mp3 to listen to while I'm going places, I love your stuff so much. All your videos are twice as entertaining as other CZcams videos about these same games. Keep up the good content :D
I feel bad people are so annoying during streaming, I love this series and this is the funniest thing I’ve ever watched
I remember hating the controls and camera when I was a kid and nice to know they did not age well
Heck yeah thank you for posting man, can't wait to watch
ive never seen an adult man suck this hard at this game
My first and only encounter playing through this game (didn't make it to completion, I just had the biolizard level left to go) was with one of my besties who grew up playing this on her gamecube, was very aware of the fact that it's NOT a super self-explanatory game at many crucial points, and gave me hints/straight-up told me what I needed to know whenever I got to the confusing points. I also had the benefit of playing it on her gamecube instead of a PC port, which I would imagine makes the controls SO much easier.
It can be a fun, well-loved game and still be a total enigma to the newcomer at times; I think we can make room in our hearts to accept that level of nuance. You did great, Therm!
I’m a die-hard Sonic fan and I came here specifically to watch a 20yo man seethe over it 😂
No clue if it was an intentional reference, but Shadowland Lasertag is a real place that I have been to on a trip to Washington DC
there was a shadowland lasertag in my town in MD too!! unfortunately it has since closed down rip
For a while I thought he was actually gonna 100% the whole game but it was just a story “100%” lol
Also might as well say what the 100% reward for getting all A ranks and 180 emblems in case your wondering and it’s a 3D recreation of the first games Green Hill Zone.
Also Sonic Heroes and Shadow the hedgehog have their own 100% reward and in both of them you unlock super hard mode for Heroes and expert mode for Shadow. It would be funny to watch you attempt the hard modes but the grind for it probably won’t be worth it for you. If anything I would say to just download a 100% save file after beating the story if that’s even possible to do and that’s only if you feel like doing it.
13:04
fun fact about the Pumpkin Hill music: Hunnid P (the rapper on the track) wrote it _himself_ in a single day. he's tried leeching off the nostalgia of the track ever since, and is also the most toxic, deplorable person i've ever witnessed in the video game music space :)
(if you don't know about his "shenanigans", literally just search it up. not very hard to find lmao)
Final chase is literal hell and it's cathartic seeing some else go insane playing it
My favorite level actually
It's sad that the only way to play this game anymore is a broken mess. Every port further from the dreamcast gets worse and worse. It's not even recognizable. I blame some of your frustration on that. Not all just some.
It’s so interesting seeing someone play this game with zero prior knowledge on how it works and how the stage is. Before I finally got a chance to play the game, I watched people play it who already played it before and when I got a chance to play the game years later it just became natural to understand and play really quickly and same could be said with the train wreck known as Sonic 06, oh boy good luck with that one. I really wonder how I would’ve gone without prior knowledge on my side lol.
But next up with Heroes I had no prior knowledge since it was one of my first Sonic games alongside the Shadow game way before I had easy access to CZcams so it’ll be fun remembering how I struggled at first the parts you’ll probably struggle with as well. Good luck with the Egg emperor boss, that one I remember struggling with the most as a kid for a while as well with the end of stage 4 with Team Sonic and dark with the lava rising.
Btw word of advise for Sonic Heroes, Team Rose is basically the easiest team with shorter stages then the rest so start with them first and sorry for such a long comment lol.
I really think that sonic games are just your kryptonite
I think you accidentally planted a seed in your brain. After all the 3D Sonic games… I think… you should… LET IT RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIP!!!!!!
19:00 "most mandatory items in the most ridiculous to find places"
XD buddy i hate to tell you, but its NOT mandatory. you can complete much harder underwater levels without it.
trust me, i know, cuz i NEVER FOUND THE AIR NECKLACE.
i cant stop laughing, i grew up on this game so for me everything seems super obvious but it's amazing watching someone play it fresh, im in love
I loved this game when i was 10, but I only played the first level over and over again and raised chao. I recommend playing it that way.
I remember playing through Jedi Fallen Order, and as soon as I got the double jump I entirely forgot about it and spent like 10 minutes trying to make a jump that wasn't possible without double jump. Every time I see something like tails falling because he can barely jump I remember those 10 awful minutes
I get the anger. I love Sonic, but man, every time I play, I can feel the brain hemorrhage forming.
Youre supposed to homing attack onto the rails to make them start, watching this was painful 😢
Me every 5 minutes: "HOWWWW?!?"
Therm I swear you were playing with inverted controls or something I have never seen such jank. Don't mistake me I was entertained all the way through but....????????????
Bro I just found this account and I’m in love I have been watching you non stop since I’ll be here for a bit
"Where are the chaos, all I have is an egg"
my brother in christ what do you think it is that an egg does
Bold opinion, start running.
I love this chat man, you gotta have it displayed for the next game PLEASE
Yeaaah, this game shows it's age but, if you are careful and play around the glitches there is something really fun here! Also, I'm going to be a bit honest in that a part of your bad experience here is just due to you being a bit too impatient.
Consistently falling off the map is not just due to the buggy level set ups/collisions (although some of it DEFINTELY is) but, because you were just trying to speed through everything. Which *yeah* while I get it's a sonic game and you are meant to be speedy, even the classic 2D games had obstacles to prevent you from just blindly holding the control stick in the direction of forward movement. They still want you to think about how you are moving and choosing how you do so wisely.
Also... I've got bad news about that title, this is not a 100% playthrough of this game. Each stage has 5 missions which you can find in the stage select! In order to 100% this game you'd need to collect all the Emblems (The little sonic ring icons that appeared at the end of every stage completed during the main stages and would tick up a counter after you beat the levels), you'd have to beat each mission with an A rank, you have some emblems that can only be acquired by making progress on the chao garden both with the Chao Races and Chao Karate and general chao growth, you have to play through all of the games boss rush modes, AND you have to beat all 3 races in first place in the Cart Races game mode.
In a weird way, while what I just described for playing through this game 100% might sound like hell to you, I think you'd appreciate the game a lot more if you did. If you took the patience to sit through all the levels, finding all the alternative routes you can take to complete the levels and just seeing how expansive each stage in this game truly is, you'd see just how much effort was put into this game. (Not to mention figuring out the nuances to the games various control types)
This game is really special to me for a lot of reasons. Some I only really discovered when I starting attempting *to* 100% it. To this day I'm still finding out more information about this game that I have been playing on and off for the past 20ish years of my life and that's beautiful. Something most games can't get a person to do nowadays.
If you ever do go back to this game there is one thing I would recommend even if you decide that you don't want to 100% the game (which, is understandable) it'd be going back to the chao garden, relaxing and taking your time to learn everything about the chao system. Now that you aren't in a "I have to beat the story" set up, going to the stage select screen and playing the chao garden is the best way to play the chao garden. You can actually name your chao at the fortune teller (although I will admit the way you get to the option for naming the chao yourself is really dumb), buy new chao eggs and food at the store with the rings you collect from stages, teach your chao how to draw and play instruments at the kindergarten, and see their stat grades and general health at the chao doctor office cause you don't get auto zapped to the next story beat. Plus, if you need to get more rings, sticks (chaos drives), or animals for your chao you now have the choice of only replaying stages you actually enjoyed instead of the Rouges, Knuckles, Tails, and Eggman stages you hated so much.
You wrote a whole ass essay
@@tammycline9403 Just a little bit. XD
But what can I say? I'm passionate about SA2.
Id argue hed dislike the game even more if he went to do all the side objectives tbh. The side objectives are usually much more difficult and require patience and if he didnt enjoy the main story as much the challenges will be worse
@@lazilylapis676 If he went for a 100% playthrough? Yeah, I could see it going a bit of both ways. In some ways it'd make him hate it more cause there is a lot of dumb/tedious missions but, in other ways I think it would make him appreciate it more too. Also it's not like Therm hasn't played games that require patience before. He's played Stardew Valley.
If I were suggest him to go back to this game at all I'd probably just recommend the chao garden stuff I mentioned at the end though because even I haven't 100% the game fully yet and I actually enjoy this game.
I'm having the time of my life with these sonic videos
I LOVE CHAO SO MUCH. The shots of them looking around while theyre supposed to be eating fruit
Had a fun time watching your vids as a sonic fan. They’re janky but silly fun. I know you’re probably gonna hate heroes but I’d love to see your video on it.
i was SCREAMING to use the boost on the last level. my god lmao
I only just found your channel and adventure one video last night and now I get adventure 2
I haven't laughed this hard in a long time. Thanks Therm 😂
This is one of the funniest videos I have ever seen
You have to alter the game's app settings from your PC's graphics card control panel (Nvidia for me) and hard lock the game to 60 FPS.
Nvidia Control Panel (or whichever you use) < Manage 3D Settings < Program Settings < Sonic Adventure 2 Launcher < Adjust Max Frame Rate.
That should fix it.
After that, you need to apply fan patches for anything else.
I want to mention this is for a common problem that usually occurs in modern PCs where the game runs too fast. So I don't know if it would fix your particular slow down problem.
Watching this reminds me of watching the show when I was a kid
I wonder if Therm played the Crash Bandicoot remake or the newest release? This game is making me want to see him play through them if he hasn't! Don't get me started on the rage inducement of Stormy Ascent that they added for the remake of the first Crash 💀💀💀
This game very much has its flaws, especially the camera and just generally in the mech and treasure hunting sections. But I just don't understand why you were having so much trouble with the rail grinding. You literally just hold the B button to crouch while on rails and you will always have enough speed to get past all of them. You can also spin dash onto the rails to start off with a lot of speed. You don't even need to balance with the left stick, just holding the B button is enough. Switching rails is janky, sometimes the game will just throw you off to your death but other than that, rail grinding is perfectly functional in this game. You don't really ever have to switch rails like in other Sonic games. It's mostly just used to get goodies or to take alternate routes
from what i heard the pc port messed the controls heavy especially on rail grinding
@@justasimplemanworkinghiswa1569 I've 100% the game twice on the pc port and have never had issues with anything. I think Therm might just be that bad.
im currently playing through SA2 with my boyfriend! we grew up playing it and we love it so much its so dear to us. it sucks so bad ❤🎉❤🎉 cannot believe i used to be good at a game this jank.
The game is significantly jankier nowadays due to terrible ports.
Skill issue
Wooo long video about a game I’ve never played
The biohazard is the prototype of shadow and how they got to the hedgehog design from angel island mural from sonic 3 where it showed super sonic iirc
i love this video so much. sometimes free therapy is watching someone else play a buggy sonic game
Your crazy gadget experience had me on the floor 😂
I left this game and did not play it for several months. Somehow it moved on past the most difficult part by itself?!
18:25 its because our parents or older siblings would beat the game and we would only play the sonic and shadow stages, except for sky rail. 😂
This is the second time in a week or 2 that I've seen someone play through this game, lose all their lives, and get confused that they were on the title screen. Which is the wackiest thing to me because it's the most obvious thing. You lost all your lives and you're at the title screen to start over. But with save files.
I guess it's because in the old games, you lose all your lives without earning "Continues", you go back to the title screen and start from the beginning again. But by Sonic 3, they added save files so at least you don't start the game over from the very beginning but simple from the beginning of the last stage you were on.
This has been the standard for Sonic games and MANY games.
But recently they got rid of the life system which I thought was weird and made it too easy if you can just die over and over and never have to worry about losing your lives.
It's still such a new thing to me that it didn't occur to me that a lot of modern games are already like that because of the kind of games there are, and therefore a lot of modern gamers would be perplexed by the most basic thing if they're just not used to it. It's not that they don't have common sense. They've just been trained to think differently already.
I can’t get over the fact that Rouge and Nancy Drew have the same voice actor. I keep thinking we’re about to solve a mystery 😭
Omg, I remember playing this with my older brother and younger sister.
Yall escape from the city is my favorite song from any sonic game, followed closely by Reach for the Stars from Sonic Colors so I’m so happy to hear it again
TL;DR: This is the man who gets mad at Papa's Pizzeria games, of course he's gonna rage at a 2001 game. I appreciate this playthrough, y'all are just mad.
There's like so many copy/paste hate comments on this, like omg. Guys. Man play game. Man no grow up with game. Man not have hyperfixation on game. Man not have as much fun with game (which I love, don't get me wrong) as last game. Man scream and have hand hernia. Getting angry that man does not have the same opinion as you is silly, actually. If someone having a different opinion on something you grew up with hurts-- like, if it does psychic damage or whatever-- and compels you to insult and gripe about it in the comments, stop watching. He might not agree with you on funny blue rat game, but that doesn't make him morally bad. Liking different things is a great thing, and people are probably still gonna spam this guy with hate. He might not play the next games because people harass him, which is a damn shame because this is such a fascinating perspective. I wanna see more! He might not be "converted" or anything along the way, but there's still more to hear him say!
17:45 the hbomberguy thumbnail is pretty epic
this is not the worst sonic game, dont forget sonic forces💀
I absolutely still love this game and come back to play it from time to time. But I agree certain controls are awful like rail grinding and etc. If I'm to be honest only the sonic and shadow stages are the fun parts but it feels like you play them the least and in the dark story you play shadow for like 3 stages
Wow you REALLY don't get speed on those rails if you don't hold crouch literally the entire time, huh?
The part I didn't get for a long time was that you tapped the lean instead of holding it for the best effect.
The more I watch this, the more confused I get, like, does your controller have drift?
Cant wait to see you play sonic heroes XD
My friend if THIS game made your blood boil, Sonic heroes is far, far, far worse than this.
Only on PS2 or PC GameCube is fine
Wait until 06. That will be a doozie
SA2B on GameCube was how I played and I never had this much of a problem with the controls. It's a shame how bad the ports are. It's not like everything was perfect, the game has always been a little janky. But watching how much your struggle with the controls made the game less enjoyable is sad. I played the levels over and over to get stuff for the Chao and got a lot better with time. It's fun to go back and play when you know how everything works. I don't think this is the BEST Sonic game but it has always been my favorite. I have nostalgia bias but I do remember raging at certain levels (freaking MISSION STREET) and not being able to beat stuff for a long time. But then I'd raise Chao to cool off. I always thought I was kinda bad at the game, I've never been good at video games. Was it user error or just the controls this whole time? idk, man.
My old laptop also ran SA2 off of Steam in slowmo for some reason. Eventually, when I got a new computer, that fixed the problem lol.
Also, completing SA1 > completing SA2.
It's wayyy less stressful, although that might just be because I'm way better at it. I just prefer the first Adventure game overall, haha.
Both PC versions should be modded, though. They have a lot of problems with the base versions off of Steam.
I love the Dreamcast restoration stuff.
Although the Steam Version is a bit broken, that doesn’t matter too much as there’s a ton of mods to improve the game and fix bugs.
Man the music in this game rules
the first person to actually need Omochao's obvious hints bruhh

Do that when you're alone. This is like that one fortnite clip. 😂
Dunno if the Battle DLC fixes the game, but I can't really sympathize also having the steam version. You may want to use Steam Input if you ever return. It fixes the deadzone issue on most controllers.
This is one of my favorite games ever
