I bought this blind, and daaaaaayyyyyyyyyuuuuuuummmmm was I pleased with it! The opening is 100% Layton, after half an hour or an hour I find it dries down to a much milder version of Layton. 9/10 fragrance, 6/10 pencil. 😂

I've been really enjoying this past few months! I actually prefer White in Black more over Layton because Layton was a bit too strong for my sensitive nose lol
For some reason I really like the lavender used here, and the quality is there without question.
Unfortunately, have to agree with the performance. It feels like the projection is literally all used up in the opening, where it actually fills up the room. But it's ok because I use fragrances for myself mostly, and as a date night scent it works fine because your date or whoever is up close to you will definitely smell it on you even at dry down just like D&G The One.
i heard the reformulated 82% layton is harsher than the old 78% one. that is why i skipped trying layton and just went straight for this! :D
I'd like a comparison of PDM Layton inspired fragrances. TH impact intense, lalique white in black, detour noir etc.
I have this and Layton. Black is not as loud as Layton. However, the longevity of black is amazing. I spray this 2x on left forearm at 5pm Friday. It’s still working nicely of my skin 23 hours later. So it’s kinda like a beast without the big projection. Another plus is my fiancé is digging it.
You gotta start showering more often 🤷🏾♂️

I really liked this one. I use it when I want to wear something like Layton without using up my bottle of Layton
I ended up watching his last review of Al Haramain's Detour Noir and I ended up picking up a bottle and for me that one is pretty spot on with Layton so I'm going to thank Ash that he reviewed that one and that one is easily 8 plus hours on my skin and when I put it on my clothes like 10 or 12 hours and it's about almost I hate to say one to one but it's almost a one to one smell of Layton
Where did you find it? I searched and could only find it at the al haramain store which comes out to cost about $100 with shipping.

I also got Detour Noir. They do smell very similar, however I feel like Detour is a bit harsher, but still smells beautifully in the air for others. I bought it very cheap at Notino too.

I got this for about $50 with shipping 2 months back. Great pick up and definitely a better causal wear than Layton due to the price point. Prices are creeping up so I am considering buying a back up bottle of this as I'm seeing prices at the $65-$90 range now.

(wiping wiener off bottle....ahem) I really like this one myself and I do have Layton as well. I find WiB is the softer little brother to Layton for those nights where as you pointed out are better served with this like La nuit or The One. My GF loves Layton if we go out but prefers WiB for date nights.

Got a sample and I wasn't crazy about White In Black. Smelled too flowery and powdery to me.

I just blind bought it and got it on my mail yesterday. I don't own Layton but all that I can tell is that I love this juice from the first sniff. I wore it on today to go work and surprisedly got me 3 complement's.

Ashton, could you add age ranges for the fragrance? It’s tricky, because if one reads Fragrantica, one would think that Shalimar is the best scent ever. What people don’t put in the reviews is that it’s the best scent ever… for someone who is in their 90’s.

All I get off the top of Layton is that Vicks Vapor Rub smell.
That's from the cypress, and the great news is that Lalique White in Black doesn't have that. I also don't love that cypress note so i actually prefer White in Black.
Hah! Just realized that there's no cypress in Layton! Anyway people say this could be a trick from the combination of the green apple and the patchouli. I guess that geranium can also give off a mentholated smell? Regardless of what note is behind it the menthol-ish accord is present in Layton and absent in Lalique White in Black.

It’s on my radar, but I’ll wait until it’s available here at discounters. Which it will be since it’s Lalique.
Most Lalique fragrances I own and know do have a quality that’s insane for the price point. With Encre Noir (and flankers) being my favourite.
Plus they make the Bentley and Jaguar fragrances too. Which contain some decent releases.
Detour Noir is going to be a better bang for your buck. And probably closer in similarity judging from Ash’s impressions

Clones of PDM Layton don't come better than Detour Noir or Royal Equestrian. I actually prefer DN to RE and it's also about a quarter of the price.

I stumbled onto this fragrance following Karine Dubreuil-Sereni and her scents. IF you did not know she is also the nose behind Gucci Pour Homme II (one of my all time favs). Which caught me off guard with her doing this for Lalique.

Well, that's true if you're looking for an exact clone of Layton. I for one prefer White in Black exactly because it gets rid of what bothers me in Royal Equestrian / Layton.
