There was one difference In Finland, Vårt Land was originally a poem in Swedish, so there can be many opinions about its Finnishness. According to Pekka Linnainen, the Finnish words for the Maamme song are from 1867 and were written by a five-man group of poets led by Finn Julius Krohn. - Finnish translations had been made before, and as late as 1867, the lyrics had one difference compared to the familiar two-stanza version of the Maamme song. It is “north/bottom”. The Maamme song took its current form only 14 years later, in 1881, Linnainen says.
