This looks great. I'm now on my fourth garden layout which is now 11 years old but it's still running OK. Fortunately I've been able to build all of them lower down, quite near the natural gound level. They've not been as scenic as your's but I have at least proved that one can get away with it even in a very wet climate and on acidic soil which makes choice of plants quite limited. I've also proved you can use various gauges outdoors, even N Gauge. So it's pretty hopeful your's will do fine. And if weeding proves too much you can always replace bits of it with artificial grass. That's been a life saver in my case!
Most will just be manual control, as is the standard in 16mm. Some will be sprung on passing loops etc. One of two might need point levers on extensions for difficult to reach locations.
We've been out today weeding as well. It's the decision making of 'Is that a weed, or not' followed by 'Well I think it's a weed, but I like it, so do I leave it'.

Looking really good... But hurry up with the bridge planning, as I'd like to build one too and was going to steal some ideas...
