  • My next video we decided to head west again… after the disappointment of losing my first thornback ray I was keen to get back over and try again so we ended up at silloth promenade.. armed with all sorts of different baits and some of Dave’s special sauce ( raymondo) we had one hell of a days fishing with a few thornbacks pulled in.. this is a wonderful spot to fish and I can’t wait to go back at some point🎣🎣 enjoy and until the next one tight lines

      When sea fishing mate it is rare and I mean rare you see a landing mat I haven’t seen one used yet if I’m honest mate every fish went back safe so no issues really thanks for the comment and support

    Went fishing to Silloth in my teens.(now in my 70's) I remember fishing off mussel beds digging ragworm for bait where we were stood. Fishing was good we caught a lot of big dabs 2 at a time was a fantastic days fishing. Travelled from Middlesbrough east to west like you. Never been back you really bring my spirits up with your travels and fishing info The man who used to take me fishing used a wooden rod with ceramic ring liners with a scarborough reel. Thankfully I had a beach caster and multiplier. Look forward to your vids tight lines.

    We always use a large drop net at Silloth. It's kinder on the fish no lifting by the line where fish can be lost and saves the long walk to put the fish back.

    • @Cynical_Jim
      @Cynical_Jim Před 3 měsíci +1

      A drop net is a shallow disk shaped net about 3 ft across suspended on a rope a bit like the stretcher lowered from a rescue helicopter. It's a way of lifting heavy fish from a hight without putting stress on fish or tackle. You can also return fish with a drop net the same way. Hope that helps.

      We've started to bring a drop net with us now, been a learning curve for us, so you'll see this more often.

    • @richyiotp1
      @richyiotp1 Před 3 měsíci +2

      Drop net is a must for silloth much easier on the fish and yourself. Saves walking a double figure ray all the way along the prom.
