Cuisinart Mini Prep Plus Food Processor Review

  • Hi Guys, today I’m reviewing the Cuisinart Mini-Prep Plus Food Processor DLC-2A. LINK TO Cuisinart Mini Prep Plus : amzn.to/1Dqn5vU It’s 250 watts, weighs 3 lbs and is 9.25 inches tall. The plastic work bowl is 3 cups or 24 ounces. The plastic is BPA free.
The body is a durable lightweight plastic. Mine is chrome but there are many different bright color options to choose from. The control panel is simple with a chop button and grind button. The stainless steel blade has auto reverse meaning when it is in the chop function, it spins one way and when it is in the grind function is spins the opposite way. The chop function uses the sharp edge of the blade for herbs and pureeing soft foods. The blunt edge is for processing harder things like spices and nuts. The lid has two holes for pouring oil or liquids when making mayonnaise or a dressing. The unit comes with an instruction manual, recipe booklet and spatula. The parts are dishwasher safe on the top rack.
I’ll test the mini by chopping garlic, onions, tomatoes, herbs and pureeing cooked carrots. I’ll also grind spices.
This mini is definitely not a replacement for a standard food processor and it’s not meant to be. But it’s a good option for making smaller items like dressings, dips and salsa. People who are not that quick with a knife will also get a lot of use out of this mini.
Hope this review was helpful. Please subscribe and thanks for watching!

I’ve been using a mini prep for years to make salad dressings. I’ve been so happy with this use I’ve overlooked all the other ways to use it.
I’m so happy to have found this review and I’ll finally get all my onions small enough for my tastes. (Happy Dance)

Thank you for this, it's so hard to find reviews of appliances like these where they don't mute or overlay music on the audio of the machine running, so I can never judge how loud or high/low pitched the motors are.

For a TL,DR kind of guy like me, reading customer reviews on home blogs and websites like Ebay, Healthy Kitchen 101 or Amazon is torturing. So videos like this are lifesavers for me. Very thorough review, good job. Hope you’ll do more product reviews for other kitchen appliances as well.

Does the job beautifully. Also does a great job on onions for recipes that call for it to be grated. And it makes just he right amount of passata for my marinara sauce or meatloaf (finely chopped onion, carrot and celery). I only cook for two so it's the perfect size for most chopping jobs. This is the only video I've seen on CZcams that actually showed these 4-cup Cuisinart used for grinding spices, in the same way as a blade coffee/spice grinder, and showed that it actually is not a good choice for that purpose. Cuisinart makes three versions of this 4-cup chopper/grinder: this Mini Prep Plus model, and two other called "Elemental" and "Elite". Elemental is cheaper than this one, while the Elite is more expensive. Every other video reviewing any of these models, they all show chopping, and of course it turned out great. If they showed grinding, they used something like peanuts which is much easier to grind than cinnamon. Actually you can just chop the peanuts, as normally done in any food processor. A $10 blade coffee grinder can do a much better job at grinding spices into powder :)

both: worked a few times, though there was an electrical smell from the
start, then completely stopped. Called Cuisinart and they would do
NOTHING since the units were over a year old. Cuisinart was zero help.

Best Kitchen Can you give me your recommendation for the best mini processor- I'm buying specifically for grating / shredding cheeses- all kinds of cheese. I just don't want to have to return yet another processor
      ; ( Thank you!

Hey Taylor did you end up buying one? If so, which one did you choose (and do you like it)?

@@bestkitchenreviews it works so fast! I love this new unit! What I also like is that it accomplishes all that I want to do in such a small package. Easy to use and added bonus is that it is easy to store away!!

Hello friend. I’m in the market for a Mini Food Processor to grind/mix my spices and sugar for my Barbecue Rubs, are to breakup and make fine my Rubs that have clumped and hardened because of the brown sugar in them. I’ve been using a Proctor Silex 1.5 Cup Chopper for about a year now, and it works well for my needs. However, the plastic bowl and lid are not made of good quality plastic and the chip easily, crack and degrade after a few months, even though I hand-wash them and treat them with care.
I’ve watched this review as well as your review of the 3.5 cup KitchenAid Mini Food Processor, and both seem like excellent machines. However, I did note you stating that powder residue from the chopping process seeping out from your bowl with the Cuisinart. This has been an issue with my Proctor Silex also, but I deal with it.
Would you be so kind as to recommend which Mini Food Processor would work better for my needs... this Cuisinart or the KitchenAid for mixing my BBQ Dry Rubs (No grinding... I’ll grind peppercorns in my Krups Coffee/Spice Grinder).
Blessings to your & yours Kola (friend)...

Hi, both machines work well. Since you're grinding the spices in a Krups...like I do 😀, either food processor would do the job. The KitchenAid is quieter and the bowl is larger than the Cuisinart. Hope that helps 😀

I was leaning towards to KitchenAid, and being that it has a larger bowl and is quieter, I'll go with it. Also, I really LOVE the look of the KitchenAid, especially the red. Also... if I use your link to get to Amazon, and I get the new version of the KitchenAid will that help you? I only saw a video review for the older version of the KitchenAid.

      @maydaygarden Před 2 lety +1

Yes. Partially freeze the meat first, then cut in small 1-1/2" pieces. Partially frozen meat is necessary to allow the blade to process evenly. Use the pulse function and scrape down the sides when needed. The small spatula is great for this. I actually use the spatula for alot of other things too.

Jake Arandilla Hi Jake, the grinding function didn't work on the spices. I have seen others grind nuts/bread crumbs and it seems to work on those items.
