Money isn't everything; many rich ppl prove that even millions on a bank account isn't a guarantee for a happy life. There are ppl with way less and yet still happy. Being materialistic is a sign of inner emptiness.
No matter how much money you have - you can't buy culture. Traditions, culture are preserved or lost. It is given from one generation to the next. Once you lost it, it's gone - forever. It's the modernization is the destroyer of every culture and it is continuing to destroy.
This is is why the western is getting 'richer' with money but poorer when it comes to authentic culture. They've lost so many traditions and see a lot stuff as "foreign" - which once, were something normal for their ancestors. Solidity and cohesion are far more present and stronger in poor regions. While in modern states, overfilled with ppl, ppl don't feel that sort of solidity or unity. There's only on a linguistical and national unity, while other places are tribal and have a strong sense of being a part of big group that is the same "blood". This is what Roman Empire, Ottoman Empire and later modernization have done to ppl. Destroying their tribal structure to make them strangers to eachother and let them work for only paying taxes and making only few ppl richer that rich. After banning slavery an alternative was needed. Hence chapter Capitalism followed; which is a modern and new form of slavery. But for most it doesn't feel like slavery - that's why ppl don't complain.
