    have you tried using a funnel to refill the pillows? It might help with the smaller hole, until you get/make larger pillows.

    It honestly feels like it was just yesterday when I read her blog post about starting to make the change.

    Completely off topic... I often watch your videos when I’m anxious as your voice is soothing. (Been subscribed for years and years) however with this video the music in the background was so so soothing. What it is?

    I have been following you for years since I was a child almost and now I am 24. I developed my autoimmune disease (lupus and hashimotos) at the same time when you released your video about it! Its been so inspiring watching you go through the lifestyle changes because I had to go through them as well. I wish you the very best luck in your healing and I hope you can continue to make these small videos of whatever helps you day to day.

    I have just bought a buckwheat pillow, as I had bad neck and shoulder pain, and despite trying numerous neck pillows, they only lasted a few months. At first it felt like sleeping on grit, but I removed some of the husks and it is now great....and all my pain nearly went immediately. Definitely thinking about the mattress so really great to hear your preferences on the design. Wow.. Love the idea of adding the Lavender and afterwards recycling it in the garden.

    I have been using a buckwheat pillow for 25 years and I can't sleep with any other type of pillow however regarding the mattress I can see from your video that this type of mattress it would not suit my needs. I suffer of chronic fatigue and it would be too much job trying to move around the buckwheat, I will stick to the latex mattress with a wollen top layer, it is very firm, it doesn't lose its shape and no maintenance needed. Thanks for the video!

      I ordered a crib sized buckwheat mattress by mistake and if it's under me I find I wrestle it all night, but it's nice for painful areas so agreed I'm not sure if a buckwheat mattress is great for us. I got regular foam semi firm. It's the best.

      @@joysoyo2416 for painful area I use a acupuncture mat. But first of all I have to understand why they are painful and try to fix the matter at the root.

    My father had a buckwheat pillow and it was definitely the scorched earth option in pillow fights lol. I've though about getting one for the firmness but I remember the buckwheat being rather prickly and i have sensitive skin.

    • @DifferentReader
      @DifferentReader Před 4 lety +1

      Kiyo I’ve heard that buckwheat is only prickly when it’s been roasted. Look for un-roasted hulls

    How often do you replaced the buckwheat?

    • @KlairedeLysOfficial
      @KlairedeLysOfficial  Před 4 lety +31

      For the mattress I've only added to it for the moment, it get's quite compacted over time and needs more buckwheat. Given that it's normally recommended to replace your mattress every 7 years, that is what I plan to do. So in five years I'll empty it all out into the garden, wash the cover and sun-bleach the life out of it and then re-stuff it all.

    I'm curious (and didn't notice it on the blog post)
    About how much buckwheat would you say you used to stuff the mattress and pillows?
    Obviously it'll differ for everyone depending on how soft/firm they like it, but I'm curious
    Also where do you personally find the buckwheat you use? Are you able to buy it in bulk from somewhere?

    • @KlairedeLysOfficial
      @KlairedeLysOfficial  Před 4 lety +8

      In the last two years I've gotten through a 3-kilo bag. This has completely re-filled the pillows twice and re-padded both mattresses a few times. I get the buckwheat either through e-bay or through the same seller I bought the mattresses from.

    When i was in a car accident and broke two disk in my spine i wasnt allowed to sleep in a mattress because they were too soft so my mom gathered all the wool blankets in the house and layered them on top of each other and i slept on that for like a year. It was pretty comfortable ngl i realised i liked hard beds

    I have tried a pillow once , and I don’t remember if it might have been buckwheat. My parents had one for me to try . I slept on it , I needed more support than what it actually provided. I was recommended to try an orthopedic pillow. I did try though .
